  • love the anti-religion message of this song.

  • probably 6 years ago,.... still feel the same. Such a great song.

  • Are you asleep, are you in a dream? The copper shades of a morning Distant lights beckon and fade Unwritten songs of another day I fear that you would never be Every song in the world for me I took your hand, led you astray You cursed the worlds I longed to save Is heaven to you a perfect place? The look of sorrow on a sufferer's face A field of lives to sow and to reap That some of us will never see? .................. (no more place left :P)
  • thanks......never knew the lyrics...till now :)

  • this is my favorite song since 3 years, and i think it will be my favorite song forever.

  • soo geil der song! deep.

  • they sound like Oasis mixed with Amplifier (or does amplifier sounds like them?)

  • no, definitely not like oasis, i hear a sonic youth influence in the guitars, but much more dynamic and aggressive

  • whoo! me too!

  • im seeing them tomorrow! WOOT WOOT. if i had a choice of 5 songs to play at my funeral... this would be one of them for sure.

  • Who says nothing good comes out of Texas!

  • Idiots.

  • This band is still fucking rad.

  • Source Tags & Codes is epic. It's a shame the following albums sucked.

  • i like their following albums

but this one has a real raw unpolished feel to it

that makes me like this album more than the others

  • Comment removed

  • :) I know right, that's why I like this song so much (sorry I had to come back here to comment again b/c I love this song) everytime I hear it, it almost makes me want to cry, because it has that nostalgic yet nonchalant feeling to it that reflects life...like an old mirror that one has forgotten to look into for a long time...a song everyone can relate and create a meaning out of, no matter if they are gaining or loosing something in life's long run...sorry for the comment

  • naw naw its cool

lets hope they bring some of their old tricks back in their

    next albums to come

    since they left interscope

  • The following albums did not suck. I am seeing them tomorrow for the first time and I can't wait!

  • welch ein geiles lied..

  • I uploaded a live video of this song shot in Austin TX. Jason Reece is playing drums on it. Check out my profile page for this song and "Bells Of Creation."

  • This song is the GROOVE....!!!!!

  • Awesome band - supremely underrated ...:D

  • Great band and song. I am almost glad they arent too big, its more likely that they will be more happy and more real.

  • this band has been so raw!

  • I love this song, it brings back some memories (thanks for uploading)

  • 3:34

  • What about 3:34

  • vez stai male

  • Holy shit I haven't heard Trail of Dead in so long. Like several years, I still have thier cds rotting away in boxes. I love this band so much so amazing.

  • My best friend in the world introduced me to this band/song at 4.30 in the morning on his car stereo after we got back from town, we were slightly drunk sitting in the front seats of his shitty car listening to this amazing song....the next day i got diagnosed with cancer...so this band and the 4.30am moment holds significant meaning in my life, not to mention some of the most powerful

lyrics i have ever heard from any band in the world...totally motivating!!!

  • hly shit dude. hope you get better.

  • damn that sucks.... well good luck with that i guess... i mean come on. what else could i say.

  • damn dude that....sucks ass. Get better man, damn, well much love ans support man. :)

  • damn dude get better man

  • Wow, that's heavy.

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  • you dont even know Ja Rule

  • every time i hear one of their songs it puzzles and saddens me that they don't get the attention they deserve. so much raw emotion paired with great musicianship.

    what an incredible band.

  • wow..

  • Fuck this was a good album.

  • There had to be a 0 behind the 93:-)

  • what a good band, fukkin underated

  • It lacks testosterone? That's possibly the worst criticism I've ever heard. Source Tags and Codes is an amazing album.

  • You lack good taste

  • Epic stuff

  • TRAIL OF DEAD are epic!!

  • I only came around to see what the band was like and I gotta say their name is false advertising.

  • false advertising based on what?

  • he probably thought they were going to be screamo

  • Were you expecting actual deaths? Like The Ring?

  • I love the middle part of the song. SOOO EPIC!

  • This was the first song I ever heard by them too. I only managed to see them the once...a few years back at Reading Festival. Beautiful

  • this and ''how near how far'' my favourite songs..

  • verdammt gut

  • the bass line makes me nod my head every time.

  • Tune! Not given the recognition they deserve IMO.

  • what is forgivness.. it's just a dream?

  • I can never understand for the life of me why people absolutely HAVE to post a lyric from the song with the video. Are you trying to give us the impression that you're singing along? Or are you just trying to tell us what they say at one point in the song? Honestly it drives me completely batshit.

And who the fuck would give the idiot a positive feedback from it?

  • Oh my, you're so linear.

  • i know how you feel but understand that some times some parts of lyrics touch some people more then others , and they might not have everything others have , and it just something they can relate to .

  • I'm in the military, and this week, we lost a guy in Iraq, and I understand the desperation of feeling more than ever.

  • The beauty of these guys is that they are pure rock and roll. Like the Stone Roses they are cockey and ready to prove their worth. perfect combo for success.

  • This was the first track os theirs I heard, got it off Audiogalaxy way back. Loved them ever since. Saw them at Roskilde festival on main stage, mind blowing. But not close to their show at Loppen, '06 I think too drunk to remember really, best concert I've ever been at. You gotta know it's a really small place, 500 people max I think, stage is like 1 foot tall, magic.

  • alsatiancousin1 im not trying to be the average youtube asshole but how did you even know that about the guitar thats like mindblowing you hardly see that close up in the video once again not being an asshole just curious

  • I think he is right. it is hard to make out but the shape is Italia. I can't be sure there were so many cheap guitars in that period but............. Its not a Firebird. Great tune anyway. That is what rock and roll is about.

  • gotta love austin

  • just perfect! Fell for ToD in May of 02, & the torch still burns strong for the boys...........

  • best part of this song for me is 02:23-03:10

  • SIMPLY...AMAZING =)

  • I remember first hearing this song on MTV2, around 2002. I loved immediately. I love that this band dig Baudelaire if you're familiar with Les fleurs du mal- the evil flowers you can see the influences and it's a beautiful interrelation.

  • Another morning stoner NEVER gets old! This song still makes me feel good everytime i hear it. Long live Trail of Dead!

  • Great song

  • i like the older stuff like let it dive that was a great song :) every variant of the song i downloaded had that gay asian person at the end which completely ruins it but its still a great song

  • My favorite song is intelligence, but I can appreciate the newer stuff (which it seems many people don't like). Hopefully they keep pushing the envelope.

  • you guys know what kinda guitar is that..the 1 in the blue

  • maybe a gibson firebird... :)

  • oh thanx

  • its a cheaper guitar of a brand called Italia

its a firebird influenced model and conrad has played a firebird too but thats not whats in this video

you should be able to find info about Italia guitars on the internet

there are reviews of this model at harmony central

  • I checked and its called an italia modena

as a coincidene theres a pawn shop auction for one tomorrow and Im gonna try and go if I can get up that early

a very cool looking guitar and I think the PUs are supposed to be good..

  • They were amazing Saturday night!! They played stuff from "Madonna" and Source Tags & codes..

  • This drummer is a beast!

  • he's good but i don't like the cymbal attack

  • best band ever!11 go to to trailofdeadorg... thats there page!!!

  • minimal techno and this sound give me the same feeling, very selfish i know but true all the same folks

  • three, keep the faith, as the boys are split from Interscope and at work on a new album as I type. Hoping they have another US tour soon, as I have seen ToD 9 times and eagerly await number 10!

  • 10 times! Damn... tell'em to visit moscow again!

  • I love this song and album...I"m very disappointed with their newer stuff though...oh well, this one, madonna, and--to a lesser extent--worlds apart, are good. I really wasn't a huge fan of 'So Divided' however. And it's not because I'm anti-mainstream or change or any of that nonsense, so don't throw that at me. I just think their newer material is weaker and less emotionally driven than Source Tags-era stuff. (and Elana's Tomb.)

  • I agree !! I'm gonna go see them Saturday in Houston..and I pray to the Universe..God..whatever.. that they play stuff from "Madonna" & Source tags and Codes

  • can't get this song out of my head. i'm becoming obsessed. check the guitar riff at the start....the bass....a sort of tribal drumming...they do know how to play guitars. the whole 'source tags and codes' album has some pretty songs but this is really something.

  • i love this song always reminds me of the days when id wake up smoke three cones of skunk and have an awsome coffee ready to face the day ;) this song is awsome.

  • the album is from 2002.

  • didn't they released an album in 2006-7

  • Does anyone know if they are still making albulms? I haven't heard anything new for years!

  • are you serious

  • Yeah...you know something I don't?

  • their latest album "So divided" was released on november 2006.

  • Their music, to be honest, probably wouldn't be as good if they were on MTV.

For one, they'd be way overplayed.

Secondly, fame like that really changes bands, and their music wouldn't be quite as meaningful, more controlled by the media.

It's a sad thing, it truly is.

I always dread the day my favorite underground bands go mainstream. =\

  • Their album got play on MTV, their best album actually, so you're wrong. I also hope you're favorite underground bands don't go mainstream because you probably listen to underground boybands and emo gayness. DIE

  • dont get me wrong i listen to 'underground stuff' too (MF doom, throbbing gristle, polkadot cadaver) but whats wrong with mainstream?

not every mainstream band becomes corporate rock whores

  • this is definetly one of my favourite songs!

  • this is probaly the best song i like ever heard

  • still ahead of their time.

  • anybody who is a real rocker should love this song!!!

  • I love it!!!!:)

  • I love this song 5/5!

  • after this album I think they weren't able to stand the pressure anymore

  • i first heard of one of their songs on madden (let it dive)...loved the song, thought they were a one hit wonder. then i saw the movie the invisible and heard caterwaul. im not a big music guy, but those two songs are fuckin amazing. so what are their most popular songs?

  • I relate to TOD, hardcore. Used to live in Hawaii, moved to Texas. Their music is amazing.

  • Having said that, TOD are one of the biggest gems that I have found in the 00s. Not too many Aussies appreciate them either. Did I mention their self titled album? That is kewl too. Particularly.... is it Gargoyle waiting? If you don't like the new stuff, check out the ten year old stuff. It is good.

  • Great band, love their work. Even the new stuff!

  • "Madonna" was a pretty good album too. I have no idea what happened to them after source tags... they just changed beyond recognition. Love this song though.

  • i love this band

  • this is the only album i like by them ..but it is awesome

  • Can anyone tell me why it is that anytime i ask someone if they've heard of this band, they're like "who?". A shame. This was the 1st song that intro'd them to me..been hooked ever since. True rock.

  • it feels good that not that many ppl know about them and that mtv and radio hasnt played their stuff too much

theyre still succesful enough for one of them to get to buy himself a bar

  • Why exactly does that fact make you like the band more? Should like them because of their music nothing else. My opinion at least. Would their music be not as good if they were on MTV?

  • I just meant that if the dj had played them every time I was in a club and youd hear them everywhere all the time the songs might get worn out to your ears

but of course it doesnt matter how many ppl like them

  • Because, people live in their own little worlds and are not exposed to brilliant bands like TOD.

  • At 30 seconds the pose they do is hilarious. I love that. Totally underrated album, and band.

  • source tags and codes is such a great album

2002 was a great year for music(interpol, glassjaw, division of laura lee)

  • those who argues in youtube..get a life!!!

  • If you've been to any of their shows you'd know they still play a wide range of all of their good songs.

  • yeah right so they just lost their talent?

    your an idiot

  • Takes me back to the good old days when Trail of Dead was still good.

  • Damn, this is not stoner music like I was looking for.

  • chulada de cancion!

    y tambien,

    chulada de video!

saludos a los fans de TOD

  • Can't say what album that is the best. Madonna, STC and Worlds apart are all just awesome. Have to listen a bit more to the newest tho.

Amazing performence in Gothenburg, way out west. "Where is the Vodka?"

  • yeah that show was lots of fun

but I dont think it was one of their best gigs

I just got my photos from that night back

a few pretty cool live pics and a few silly ones I took of myself with jason and conrad after the show

  • it was my first time to see em live..

haha, so it's one of my best ^^

but hey, who are u then?

Cuz me and my sis was with conrad and the crew as well.

  • just a fan

    met em once before

    dont know them or anything

Im not allowed in pustervik right now cause both me and my gf had faked our stamps to get in to the theater-stage(although we had 2-day bracelets for that stupid festival)

I said I had given my gf the fake stamp when that bitchy woman kept screaming at her when they were gonna throw her out

still I got to see the gig and she didnt it was well worth getting "portad" for

    ;-)

  • awh shit, i think that bitch you're talking about tried to fuck my evening up as well.

me and my sister got backstage pass, and some how they didn't put my name on the list, only my sister..

so jason sneaked me in the backway, lol..

but hell yeah, need to see them more than once.

  • well it was really fucked up that the band was booked since long back for the festival then they put their gig on the clubnight on the thursday

then they sold out the concert with separate ordinary tickets so that it was almost impossible to get into that gig with a festival-bracelet

    it wouldve gotten crowded anyway

and they just did this so that pisstervik would get even more money from this

    did you see sparta aswell?

  • they should've played on friday/saturday and on some bigger stage, that was the plans.

but some incompetent rövhål doublebooked 'em with some other band.

  • yeah it wouldve been better for everyone if they had played on the smallest of the festival stages instead

it was still so fucked up of luger/pustervik

to sell separate tickets to that concert this way

are you allowed to book things like that?

I think that if someone had tried to book things in this way in the states they would have gotten sued big time

  • ops, clicked to early..

I only had time to see Trail of dead, and i checked out Voxtrot (think it was).

i guess sparta is a band right ?

  • I saw sparta play on the saturday

    they were good

  • god i love this band, im just so pissed i cant find anyone else in my area who likes them too :(

  • these guys are awesome - they put on a real live show - always on the edge, explosive and entertaining... i really hate it when they are compared to sonic youth. sure, im sure sonic youth influenced them, but sonic youth vocals were ALWAYS horrible and they were completly incapable of writing a good melody. try and sing a sonic youth melody right now...you wont be able to..

  • "... Teenage riot... stormy weather..." dumdumdumdumdumdududumdumdum

    Mh, wasn't that hard.

  • Hands down, Source Tags and Codes is there best album. I love this song, and I learned how to play it a few years ago... I forgot some of it I'll have to play it a few times again. :D

  • no shit! you heard their earlier albums? amazing.... hard to believe they're american. no offence

  • How is it hard to believe that they are American? Are you under the impression that all Americans are George Bush and love Toby Keith? Because if so, that's as fucking dumb as buying into the whole 'euro-trash' stereotypes.

  • My graciousness, these boys are reckless; they drink quite a bit of alcohol but they are catchy.

  • The best part about these guys is the name of their band.

  • truth

  • damn right

  • this band rocks

  • wow

  • love trail of dead they rock

  • yo gay

  • the best

  • It's still as great as the first time I watched it.

  • this really is gayrock
