I have the same laptop. Came with windows 7. My problem is it idles at about 50% computer usage. I cant figure out why the usage is so high at idle. I've turn most of the services off that I dont need and have a good tweaking dell inspiron 1540 program to control "start up" programs etc. any advice?? What does yours idle at?

I see nothing special about your computer, you didn't even point the cam at the rating, but it looked like 3.8. that's slightly above average. I saw your processor meter on your desktop gadgets maxing out when you were opening windows. I never see mine go past 50%

the battery life is supposed to be 3 1/2 hours. I know, actually, the battery runs out quickly because the brightness is set on it's highest. If you want it to work longer, press F4.

The 'dandruff' is just the smudges i imagine, thats the one thing that puts me off buying it but i do really want this as my first laptop. I'm 19 and only ever used desktop lol.

I will only use it for internet, msn, storing files like pictures and music and plugging in my iPod and mobile USB.

No games or anything.

It's definitely not a gaming computer, but that's not what i bought it for, it's great for internet and light music editing.
