  • Ho much did the katana cost you?

  • Great video! I've only started this year, and your videos are a great help. Thanks for posting and 9:32 is beautiful.

  • @47Shakes Thanks,glad i can help.

  • 4:32, i love drawing my blade like that, looks so smooth

  • @ZentetsukenVII Thanks.

  • maaan, how much are those mats each?

  • I hate tatami too, kill em'all

  • Yes for kata's.

  • Some people say that the Paul Chen practical XL isn't very versatile and that the blade is fragile. Is this true? Because I want to do heavy cutting with this katana and also some iaido... Which means blade on blade contact.

  • Blade on blade contact ?? what kind of iai is that ?

You should never even touch another blade with your sword, that could be very dangerous. As for practical xl,well I've used this blade for cutting for last 3-4 years, i cut beach mats,yellow/green bamboo, tatami omote, wooden dowels,etc.. the blade never took a set,and It's very sharp.

  • who makes that Katana you are using?

  • It's a Paul Chen Practical XL Katana, but i customized it,i put on a new polish and koshirae.

  • nice one, bro :D

  • very nice sword work. 3.50 great spin cut

  • Thank you.

  • zdravo revan. i ja sam kupijo jednu ketanu. What type of material are you practicing on? I thought about using bamboo but it might be too hard. By the way, nicely done.

  • Pozdrav,in this vid I'm cutting tatami omote and beach mats, bamboo is a traditional target so you can cut it if your sword has a proper heat threat.

  • Wow, nice cuts! The angle of the kiriage seems to be off by a few degrees but the makuri and the yokogiri was nice.

  • Thanks, yeah i'll need to work on that.

  • i would like to know what martial art you are trained in and what suggestions you would have for companys to look at for begining a sword collection

  • i think Master Revan is self taught in tameshigiri !!!

  • Iz Trogira

  • koji je to park

  • Ja sam u Češkoj trenutno, ovo je snimano ispred moje kuča koja je u parku, a od kud si ti ?

  • samo tako nastavi

    viježbom do savršenstva

  • hold on would a neighbor call the police if he/she saw you outside with a sword cutting stuff

  • I really wouldn't care if they did,I'm on my own property and there really isn't anything they can do. Besides why would they ? Being my house is in a public park (i'm cutting in front of it) a lot of people stop and watch me cut, often with they're children, they also ask about the swords, tameshigiri etc... Cops drive through the park at least five times a day,i even had them watching and inquire about swords, honestly i don't think anybody minds.

  • nobody should im just saying. and where is your country? i dont see it anywhere on my map

  • Europe, between Slovenia,Serbia,Hungary and Italy (boot shaped country) is on the left side, it's fairly small that's probably why you couldn't find it.

  • ohhh i see im still finding it haha xD thanks anyway

  • WOW that was some badass cutting. good job

  • Thanks.

  • How much does each mat cost?

  • Here, almost 20 usd for tatami, but beach mats are very cheap around 1usd per mat,and long makiwara around 8 bucks.

  • your very good !

  • Thank you.

  • Why not try a wakizashi??? It would be a great foward? ;)

  • Remarks: something is missing on U're Hakama!!

  • What ???

  • I don't want to u're enemy!!! it Pretty fast cuttingand it's effective. Wow!!! By the way the angle of the cam ia real good! Man U're Cool!!! Luke

  • LOL,thanks.

  • Can't stop watching this video, such good cutting!

  • Thanks.

  • Pause for a moment and let your mind imagine what you would look like if you were the victim of the series of cuts at 2:35. That's some straight up Kill Bill $#!+, right there.

  • Hehe,thank you.

  • Those cuts, CLEANS! AWESOME!! great work and great great cuts, keep it up!!

Continues to delighting with your videos!!

    Nahuel from Argentina.

  • Thank you,i will.

  • After looking at the website it looks like some kind of wara or goza they are selling. Harder to cut than beach mats, but not quite tatami omote.... With your form getting better it would not make a huge difference.... but you can feel the grab more with Tatami Omote....

  • Enter tatami omote in the search bar and you'll see both hanwei mats and omote, you can chose between them, tatami is two times more expensive the hanwei mats.

  • may i ask why... at 1.11 you ahve put a broken peice ontop of another? (balanced on there....)

  • you cutting is getting better though... sweet Kesagiri...

  • Thanks.

  • when you show the mat up close it looks like a Bugei wara you cut down... The sound is not quite right. Its more a thud and less of a Zip sound that tatami cuts make.... Also the mats show to much movment even when your cuts are clean... Looks like you rolled the wara tighter and cut it short... Every place I have seen shows a low stock with mugen dachi these days... do you have the invoice for the mat order?

  • I ordered the mats from outfit4events,they sell hanwei mats and tatami omote.

In this vid i only used beach mats and tatami.

  • were whould you say the cheapest place for mats.. i use beach mats but even at like £1.50 each.. it goes get into the hundreds quickly../

  • Simply amazing, the best tameshigiri video I´ve seen on youtube.

  • Thank you.

  • finally someone who can cut like the best you are realy good i enjoy when you swing your sword like that

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like the vid.

  • Really, really good!

  • Thank you for the compliment Johan.

  • Really nice cutting.

  • Thank you.

  • Do you get water on your blade from cutting beach mats or tatami omote or does it cut and leave nothing on the blade?

  • Sometimes but not often,i usually leave the mats to dry out for 20 minutes.

  • Is cutting tatami Omote more difficult than cutting the short beach mats you have in the video? Those are around a buck each around these parts !!

  • Yeah same here,i paid exactly one buck per mat for these short ones.

As for tatami yes it has very high density and is much more difficult to cut.

  • Awesome Cutting ! What does real Tatami Omote cost per case of 10 or 20 mats?

  • Well if you order directly from Mugen Dachi i believe the price is about 9 usd per mat or 260 usd for 30 mats (and that's including VAT and shipping) which is the minimum amount you can order.

If you buy from re-sellers... well i paid as much as 15 usd per mat in my country.

  • are you self taught and if you are then you are amazing, if not then your sensei must be really proud of you amazing cuts man

  • Yes i am as a matter of fact,a friend of mine gave me a few pointers but i mostly taught myself from books, internet and a lot of practice.

  • As always amazing cutting! I am still blown away at the doubles you do on such small pieces. 5* as always.

  • Thank you for the compliment.

  • Very smooth cutting. Great blade control. Thanks for sharing.

  • My pleasure, and thank you for sharing all those Russell McCartney Sensei videos,i must have watched that five target Nami Gaeshi fifty times already.

  • watched it twice. pristine. all of it.

to cut like that on such tiny little single beach mats is not only amazing, it is also cost effective ;)

  • Thanks Ric, i just got back from Olomouc, visited Pavel Bolf and saw some amassing swords I'm sending you a PM with a link so check out the photos.

  • Luka:

    Another fine practice session!

  • Thank you for the compliment Tom.

  • And a thinner blade helps A LOT.

  • Actually that cut isn't very difficult once you get a hang of it, you just gotta use your hips.

  • omg your skills is awesome !! very good video, keep working !! 5*

  • Thank you,i will.

  • if i could do that, i would get all the ladies.

  • As always, beautiful and seemingly effortless! Peace.

  • Thank you Josh.

  • WOW Man! WOW! That's all I can say.

Well, that and 2:20 was a thing of beauty!!

And 9:19 was just amazing and again at 9:32.

  • Thanks Tom, yeah those cuts are a bit tricky but they're also a lot of fun.

  • Those cuts sure look like a lot of fun. They certainly aren't part of the Toyama Ryu curriculum ;-)

I'm going to have to give something like that a try I think. I like the smoothness that you pulled them off with.

  • Awesome, great cutting.

  • Thank you.

  • Amazing as always

  • Thanks.

  • Great skill! ^_^

  • Thank you for the compliment.

  • 2:20 !!! WOW!!

This is definitely my new favorite cutting video !

    Amazing.

  • Thanks Randy, and congratulations,Jonis made the right decision putting you in charge of the group.

  • Thanks. I just hope I can rise to the task.
