The first one of these that I ever saw was "Upstairs, Downstairs". It was in 1987. Very amusing!

Wow. I remember this. Oh man this was a long time ago. I miss this so much though. If I stayed at the age of 4 or something I would watch Sesame Street all day. Because memories like this is so amazing.

Hmm. Does anyone know what the theme is in the Library Opening? I feel like I heard it from somewhere and it is just beautiful.

i remember seeing the actually masterpiece theater when i was a boy, and just fall down laughing when the guy said welcome to masterpiece theater im allister cook, all i could think was i finally get it, what made this so great and funny was the attention to detail like the opening mirroring the other, just fantasic

I have to admit this segment seems better with the library intro. Now let's hope someone finds a copy of "Guys and Dolls" with the Union Jack or Library opening! (I DO know that segment used both of those intros at one time.)

I do seem to remember Cookie Monster's different mumbling to himself. Actually, I believe this was the first Monsterpiece Theater episode I saw with the Library introdution. And you know what? It scared me. I was so used to the Flag intro that this was something new and rather intense for me.

@Garrettk41 I kinda thought "Twelve Angry Men" was the first one with the library into with AC's line "Me still Alistair Cookie and this still Monsterpiece Theater." And to tell you the truth, I actually like this intro better than the other library intro that we're used to seeing.

You may well be right about that. Muppet Wiki suggests that may be the case on account of that line too. I just said this is the first one I myself saw. But didn't you say on another one of your videos that you liked the Union Jack opening best.
