@Pro constitutioner u know if frank sinatra was still with us he'd kick ur ass and quite frankly I think someone should u pot smokin dick head it's people as crazy as u that make America look bad
LOOK AT HIS EYES AT :53...HE HE'S DEMON POSESSED!! My sister threw away an album we had from him, because in the album picture he was smoking a cigarette (or cigar) and demons manifested themselves in the smoke, and we could see over 6 demon faces!! Then I looked up his name, and this is what I found!! Don't believe me?? Look up "shape shifters on the news" here on youtube!! Frank Sinatra sold his soul for fame, money, and women!!
@ProConstitutioner hahahaha XD Oh my God! you are very funny sir. What would be of us if there was no one such yourself to humor us?! Thank you for the laugh keep it up!
i need to write this...sometimes I feel kinda sad because I am 17 and none of my friends (or people of the same age) likes frank sinatra and they think i am weird
I love You Tube for the very fact that music such as this is the only chance the 'younger generations' have the opportunity to become exposed ,
Their comments are refreshing. We hit our popular music peak in the middle and late 40's and its been downhill ever since. I detest the crap that is out today.
I was a deejay for many years and played big bands, Swing, Jazz, Sinatra, Christy and the likes
but when Bill Haley and The Comets came along I, for the most part gave up the ghost.
I'm 15 and obsessed with Franks music.. what happened? Today's music is awful compared to this! I. wish I was born in the older days... even the clothes were better in my opinion. :)
So nice to hear, I am 72 years old and like you have been obsessed by his music. I feel the same after nearly 60years, I have had the privilege of seeing him in London, England, on 6 occasions.I think his the only songs I didn't like were MY WAY, and NEW YORK NEW YORK. The lyrics of most of his songs have so much meaning. The romance seems to be missing these days.It restores my faith in human nature when I read comments like yours.God Bless you
He, The Voice, Ol' Blue Eyes, Frankie, has a dreamful voice , making one dream of love and romance each time played on a turntable, along with slightly rustling tunes flowing from the tip of its worn needle...
I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive comments made by so many young people. I've been listening to FS since the mid forties. A suggestion: listen to his "Christmas Dreaming," recorded in 1947. It's his best Christmas song.
Thank you so much for uploading all of Frank's songs. Found this by accident..wow,that is music! It is such a beautiful song and I feel like dancing. Lost my husband over a year ago and this music reminds me of him. It is always you Kendal!
You know...his voice was amazing even when he wasn't singing. It was perfectly tuned. I read a quote by someone who said when he was first born the first note he screamed must have been perfectly tuned. No one sings like this anymore. I wish they had a fraction of his talent and charm. Best singer ever.
@jufro2 Yes. There is great music being made right now (namely indie rock) but the vast majority is, if you'll excuse me, complete crap. I just recently found frank sinatra and am amazed by his voice. I'm glad I have the capacity to appreciate this.
@irulz66 Sinatra invented seduction. Find the movie, "High Society" (1956) and watch The Man sing to The Most Beautiful Woman Ever to Draw a Breath, Her Serene Highness, Grace Kelly.
@ncpc17 of course he did...if you look it up online you will come across a pic that has him, carlo gambino (which in my opinion is the most respectable mob boss) and a few others...plus some say his connections with the mob helped get kennedy elected...the FBI kept a close eye on him but he was smart enough not to get caught...its actually pretty interesting you should look it up
@capncummings I was born in September 1953 (boomer) and I'll bet there were two glasses, scotch and sodas and Mr. S. on the record player that night; New Years Eve 1952.
I know people from back then. With the blitz, the great depression, the racism, the poverty, street crimes, communist scares, polio, not to mention how much power the church had over your life... There's a reason why they had such good music back then. They had a hell of a lot of things that they needed to get their minds off of.
This song was recorded between 1940-42, during Sinatra's engagement with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra. Having sung for a brief period with Harry James (1939-40) Frank went on to sing with Dorsey and it was with him that was first launched to the top of the charts, with songs like "All or Nothing At All" and "I'll never smile again".
@vHumboldt77 Actually Sinatra recorded "All Or Nothing At All" in '39 with Harry James. It wasn't a big hit until it was re-released after Frank had #1 hits like "I'll Never Smile Again" with Tommy. Sinatra didn't get a dime for recording with Harry or Tommy except for "This Love Of Mine" which Frank co-wrote.
very very nice song,, its amazing how talent like this only comes once or twice in a lifetime mr. Frank Sinatra achieved something really amazing which is to capture every little feeling and turn it into music and make it sound so right =) best of all time.. =) thanks for posting this trooper7h
However, you must remember that in frank's early career he was a junior member of the Band and took second place to the band itself. And the Tommy Dorsey band was a pleasure to listen to and dance to anyway.
trooper, first of all best wishes to you, too..i think that frank's voice improved with passing years..his smoothness and tenderness changed in a light-baritone tone that made him more sophisticated and deeper..and old-fashioned arrengement of dorsey, based on ballad tempo of swing era, is without doubt romantic but maybe less fascinating than roboating and timeless orchestrations of capitol (above all) and reprise years..bye.
Frank did start with Harry James but it was with Tommy Dorsey that Frank became the 'Bobbysoxer's' Idol.
All the big bands were hothouses for musical talent of every kind and usually the first rung on the ladder of success for all solo pop singers and harmoney groups in those febril days of the 1920's30's & 40's. It was a wonderful time to be young.:)
Ummm... that was my grandma... I think my Youtube account is still logged in at my grandparents... this is awkward.
Though I DO love Frank Sinatra as well... clearly not as much as my grandmother. But I did grow up on him thanks to her and yeah he's pretty awesome (especially in Anchors Aweigh... favorite movie! xP)
You're welcome... it is my great pleasure to share with you, one of our favourite singers.
Many people who regarded Frank Sinatra as the best, forget that his great talent was forged in the 30's and 40's singing with the Big Bands of those days.
