I had one which is Lotos LT5000D (red one). yes. it works on both 110vac and 220vac. I used for more than 3 years now. It works great. use 10 hours per week.
Dont matter to me if its made in a chinese sweatshop or a gold floored american dream factory, Its whether it works well, is cheap and i can get parts for it.As to keeping americans working, dont matter shi* to me, im not american.
"Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the centre of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven."
@llnetbeast Yes, mores the pity. Chinese made goods are not quality and not made to give long service. If you doubt my words take a look at the death traps made in China and sold as cars! See the crash test results and tell me if you rate Chinese goods highly afterwards
I agree with you that chinese made products aren't as good in quality but my point I'm trying to get at is more than 70% of our products we use or wear came from China. If you're claiming that every Chinese products are dirt crap....look around your house and you'll find that many products parts are either made in China or assembled in China. e.g. look at HP computers..it's an American company but most of their computers/parts are made/assemled in China.
@llnetbeast Correct sir ! [?] And WE the people who buy this utter crap need to say "NO" to our governments. The chinese have been very clever by undercutting [NO pun!] our industries with cheap [shoddy] goods coupled with the greed of some industrialists to get cheap labour/production costs at the expense of denuding our own countries [the 'west'] of their native high quality products in the quest for bigger profits, bigger turnover.
I try very actively, NOT to buy anything made in china

if it was 1/8 inch its not plat its considered to be 10 gauge sheet metal and if u cut slower wont have to beat the diamond plate with some pipe and the left over kurf would be considered to be SLAG aluminum and steal have different settings for apps 2 totally different characteristics of metal BTW im a teen and i know more about this shit then u thats sad dude
Im thinking about buying one of those cutters from Harbour Frght. anyone have experience with that one? Also, does plasma cutting generate much heat in the metal? thanks.

I like how everyone is asking about technical questions on this video and no one cares for the racist "It's not American, but for $300, who cares?" bit at the end. :/
how is that racist? chinese stuff is usually garbage and that's why they're cheap. American cutting and welding tools cost at least twice as much on average but are more quality tools. Chinese stuff like this is fine for a hobbyist though.
Probably because most Americans are patriotic and would rather buy good made in their country then from China or other places. I think the same way however i'm from Canada
comawhite13> I was going to call you a moron, probably still will. But the fact remains that a lot of "American" tools are put together in the USA using parts bought from China and everywhere else. I have a GiantTech Arc/Tig/Plasma combo. I paid $600 for it. It would have cost me over $2000 if I'd bought them from Lincoln Electric
As for it being "racist", if anything it's anti-nationalism, but since America is being slowly murdered, it all won't matter in another 10 years at this rate.
I have a G cut40d, what size compressor do you run, do I need to seperate myself from the ground and not touch the metal when cutting. what are the safety issues, can you help and what type of glasses are you using. thanks
Seeing as hes not answering i will. This guy hasent a clue how to use it,lol.Hes cutter way to fast, crancking up the amps just burns more electricity. This machine will cut 5/8 plate, but cut at a slow rate.Dont worry about seperating your self from the ground,u wont get shocked,,i wear a good pair of sunglass's when cutting, its all u need.
Get a self-darkening mask from Harbor Freight; cost me about $40, works awesome.
As for the compressor, I believe on the plasma, you only need something like 7psi... pretty sure its less than 20psi. Like he said, he's just using a compressor in his jeep. Probably one of those cigarette plug compressors for inflating your tires.
what combination of the 3 wires plus ground did you wire to the 120v 3 prong? i have a feeling i know what to do but don't wish to find out the hard way.
Either remove the cover and see which of the power cords three wires are connected to the machines metal frame and which two are connected to the ON/OFF switch or without removing the machines frame you can do a continuity test with an OHM meter from a point on the outer of the machine's frame to each of the three wires to find the wire that is connected to the frame, that wire will be your equipment ground ( normally green in the US ).
I think it was like brown on mine... I saw there going "WTF!?" I just stabbed my volt meter probe through the paint on the case until I hit metal, then tested the wires until one made continuity. Was easier than opening the case, didn't void the "warranty", and I could care less about a pin-head size of missing paint.
Yes it still works, I gone through a few sets of comsumable cutting up atleast 50 sections of 4'x8' pieces of 12gauge sheet and 1/4" plate.
One thing is the plastic shield around the torch connection started cracking up I put some electrical tape one it.
And you have to remember that these plasma cutters are made in china with little quaility control you might get a good one or you might get one that is junk.
I've got one that I've used just a little, had it only a few days, and it's not cutting. Is sort of sparking and skipping and shooting fire off to the side. Have made sure it doesn't have water in the line, and switched the consumables a couple of times. Any suggestions?
What size air compressor are you running it off of? And what is your air pressure? It sounds like you dont have enough pressure or volume, and the jet is not penatrating and just arcing along the surface.
It's actually arcing inside the torch, it burned a path along one of the air holes and cut a trail across the electrode. Have 120 lbs and had it adjusted as recommended. Also had a water dryer on the compressor. Contacted the seller and he had me ship it back for warranty replacement. Thanks for your help, I'll let you know how it turns out.
I got it off of ebay for about $375, but check who you buy it off of some of the seller use chinese suppliers that make them in the back of a barn with the cows, and some that make them in a actual factory.
They are on sale for 350 dollars for Christmas season. Call lotos by 4088651544 or 4086424864
