How can someone possibly watch this and think that LV is attacking SC? How can you be smart enough to like Stephen but not smart enough to understand a video like this? Or maybe you don't understand Stephen and like him for the wrong reasons.
I yearn for a hate button. Stop taking the genius of Colbert and shitting on it. At the very least find a picture that doesn't prepare us for the Colbert high, and crush us with the liberal viewer experience.
I dislike when guests come on a talk show and try to out-funny the host or outright steal their routine. It makes them look like poor sports and they're always a pale imitation. I think earnestness is the expectation of guests on the Colbert Report, and Carville isn't holding up his end here.
No, he didn't. Stephen Colbert's irony proves a point, or helps the guest prove a point. By trying to use irony against his irony, you just end up losing the opportunity he's provided for you to explain what your position is truly about. Instead of just ironically agreeing with Stephen that the oil in the ground belongs to the company, the right response would have been to explain honestly why that shouldn't be so. Instead of educating the audience, Carville just agreed with what they felt.
Your videos aren't horrible man, they seem to be kinda controversial. Also, you commented at the beginning about how people can't tell you are joking. not to be mean but you kinda sound like a robot. Or microsoft sam.
@SelectHawk i have no idea. its frustrating lol, you would think that fans of colbert would recognize irony and sarcasm when they heard it, but apparently even colbert has retarded fans.
Liberal Viewer, Stephen Colbert's comedy is irony in it's truest sense. And sometimes even the irony of irony. It's comedy, trying to make a point with irony.
@HelplessVictim Look man, I am not retarded. I just downvote things that scare me or I do not understand. I feel safer and less dumb that way. Also if I am watching a good documentary on offensive subject matter I downvote it to let people know that I find the subject matter offensive regardless of the quality of the production I am viewing.
Both the maker of the video and the inbred mr carville are morons. Colbert runs a COMEDY SHOW. If you didnt know that......then i dont know what else there is to say.
James Carville didn't out Colbert Steve, he reshaped the game. Colbert does improv comedy with a political theme, the golden rule is "yes and" meaning agree with what your partner says and then top, or intensify it. Carville said something that Colbert would naturally agree with to throw him off balance but Colbert refused to agree because it goes against his political stance. You can see Colbert briefly dismayed when he said no, at 2:49 which is against the rules and then catches himself.
In order to catch him, you have to say something in complete sarcasm towards your own. i.e his stance. something most his debate competitors are too stupid to do. When he says "I didn't know you were such a kindred spirit, he is saying: I didn't know you knew how to play the game so well.
3. Is mind-numbingly monotone (seriously, I never thought I would suggest this, but buy an autotune device and learn how to use it. If you don't take the time to understand it then it will just be stuck on one tone all the time and that would be no different than what we have here)
I enjoy "Ironic comedy", IF done correctly, It can be a tricky thing to pull off. First you need people who are intelligent enough to understand that you're not really serious about what you're saying, and Second you need to have integrity and trust with you're audience, otherwise they'll just think you a fool. (Oh, and for those of you who try to be ironic with EVERY single sentence you ever utter, even in casual conversation??) It's NOT even close to amusing, it's ANNOYING!
@JawsJaws I'm sure the native Americans had some kind of hierarchy, redistribution of resources, public services, public spaces, collective ownership etc. It's just that it's on a smaller scale making the top layer of the hierarchy geographically and socially closer to the bottom layer. It's easier to lose your sense of empathy when people are just numbers and names on paper.
@TheLivirus In fact much of the founders' notions of what government should be came from the Iroquois Confederation, which consisted of 5 then 6 tribes. Our current Constitution was not the first. The first one was called The Articles of Confederation. but they decided there must be a an effective unifying government, so they drafted the current US Constitution. But many Iroquois concepts remained in the new nation. Congress even passed a resolution recognizing this influence about 25 years ago.

DUDE, I HATE YOU! YOU'RE THE WORST. STOP TALKING AND JUST SHOW CLIPS. if u just show colbert and stewart clips and NOT talk so much you'll do much better.
@larry149 Actually, it doesn't. Irony is when the meaning of what is being expressed is diametrically opposed to the apparent meaning. It doesn't matter what tone you use. When Colbert does it in a loud and boisterous display, it's no more or less ironic than LV's calm methodical approach. I'm not sure what you think irony is, but it certainly is not dependent on the tone of the speaker or indeed even manner of delivery. Writings, art, etc. can and do contain irony as well.
Wow...LiberalViewer is retarded...he doesn't even realize that Colbert is just playing a character. I can't believe how stupid you must be to think that Colbert is serious about ANYTHING he says.
@VitalSigns1 Are you serious or trolling or joking? If you are joking, please use the smiley face, else we might think you're either incredibly stupid or trolling.
Anyone else just really confused by this? I don't get it at all. Colbert plays an over the top conservative character, its comedy. He tries to get people to put their foots in their mouths in his interviews though. Are you pointing out two examples of where people didn't say anything that could be seen as ironic? Colbert definitely does not target Liberals, if anything he does Conservatives more, but I'd say he's fairly unbiased in his making fun of other people.

@mtr4216 Can we presume that this is right-wing humor on your part? If not, why do you hate liberals so much?

@captfoster1 I can't speak for him, but I'm assuming the phrase, "self-righteous douches," would be mentioned.

Tim and Eric is a sort of Ironic Comedy, but I appreciate their humor.
So, absolutely not. There's a lot to be derived from Irony for sure. You can even find constructive forms of satire on occasion in Irony.

irony depends alot on tone and ur a bit monotone
larry149 1 year ago

VitalSigns1 1 year ago
@VitalSigns1 Are you serious or trolling or joking? If you are joking, please use the smiley face, else we might think you're either incredibly stupid or trolling.

STOP LIBERAL VIEWER FROM TALKING OVER THIS WONDERFUL COMEDY!!!!!!!!!!!
bigdogwestwood 1 year ago
Anyone else just really confused by this? I don't get it at all. Colbert plays an over the top conservative character, its comedy. He tries to get people to put their foots in their mouths in his interviews though. Are you pointing out two examples of where people didn't say anything that could be seen as ironic? Colbert definitely does not target Liberals, if anything he does Conservatives more, but I'd say he's fairly unbiased in his making fun of other people.
OhYou1177 1 year ago
Wow that was a bit of respect right there from Colbert to Carville! There is no out-Colberting Stephen Colbert.
Who else thinks that?
