  • vedy vedy goood

  • would you say that theyu need a hide or would plants for them to hide in do?

  • Whats the size of that tank? Please Respond!!

  • Helpful, but you should of put a belt on. lol

  • i was wondering is it okay to keep 2 water dragons in 48" in length and 24 " in depth48" in height (inch) VIVARIUM?

  • @djtiestops3 absolutely not. Water dragons are NOT social reptiles. You can POSSIBLY house a male and a female together (never a male and male), in an enclosure that is ATLEAST 6 feet high, 8 feet wide, 3 feet deep.

  • Hi again, I ment ot ask you if you got the logs from outside or from a petstore because I was reccomended not to use logs from outside.

  • alright thanks for helpin me,I realy appriciate it.

  • no worries.

  • Thank you for the advice! Are the waterDragons easy to clean because at the moment I have a Marsh turtle, cause every time I have to clean He's aquarium I have to empty out all the water and then fill it up with a bucket and also scrub He's tank ,it takes me about 2hours

  • @MrBosco777 well you saw in the video, it's pretty quick & easy to clean out a ;cat litter tray for water, anything larger would take longer and a built-in glass aquarium for their water would be a nightmare I reckon haha.

  • @MrBosco777 It's called a filter....

  • Great! thanks for the advice, your videos really help.I'm going to b & q in a few weeks and also duggan glass to see if they can cut 2 pieces of glass 4 me. And do you have water proofed walls or is that not needed.

  • @MrBosco777 Nah, the sterling OSB exterior board which i use is treated for outdoor weather in... well sterling i'd assume so it can handle the wet season haha! cheers.

  • Hi Erik

The viv looks gr8,I would like to ask for some advice. I was going to buy a viv from a pet store which is quite expensive and only 150cm x 60 x 60 , then I saw your videos and was thinking of building my own viv.How much did it cost to build just the frame and the glass front of your viv

  • Hey, cheers! The wood cost £61 and the glass was cloase to £80 but that was at trade price from my uncle. thanks!

  • Ive had enough of you people who think you speak english......

thats not english.. your video just gives me a headache.

  • @cheenaymike Please, do let me know how I am NOT speaking English?

  • what would be the best size tank for a water dragon to start off with?

  • @streety3812 varies dependant on the size of Dragon.

  • That is an awsome enclosure, great job!

  • was curious what materials did you use to build actuall cage with what type of wood did you use ? what size bulb is being used for the basking area?

  • what materials did you use to build the actual cage?

  • haha u look like michael myers in the halloween remake lol

  • umm... that's the second time someone has said that...

  • what type of wood is your enclosure made out of?

  • Sterling OSB exterior board.

  • u do this daily?

  • yes

  • can anyone tell me how to tell the sex of a chinese water dragon and also, how long is their average life span?

  • there is vids on here by liizzaarrddss i do belive teeling you multiple ways to tell sex, and average life span is 10-15 years i do think

  • how big a cage does an adult need?

help can an exo terra 36x24x18 work?

  • no they need like a 6 foot tall cage and they get to be about 36 inches or 3 feet long.

  • that cage is fine. and only male get that big

  • i have water dragon and its need a new vivarium . wheres the best place to get one? because i also live in south lanarkshire as well lol

  • nice one haha.

Olympia pet centers in East Kilbride shopping center is good.

also, if you are willing to go into Glasgow, Neon Gecko on Jamaica street across from the barras also gets some cool vivs in.

and down hamilton way in chatelherault there is amazing ponds & gardens, when i was last in i was very tempted to bring a couple of vivs back haha

  • what part of scotland do you live in

  • south lanarkshire

  • Great Vid Erik! Your CWD's are spoilt :P

    5*

    Byeeee

  • Brilliant. Thanks! :)

    Rachael

  • you are welcome :)

  • Hi, just thought I'd say how I got on. I decided to get a complete set up from a reptile specialist. I bought it today along with my new CWD, Enki! Bit surprised how much lighting and heating they gave but i guess they should know what they are doing?! Anyways, thanks for your help again.

  • excellent, they should know what they are doing aye, so long as the temperatures etc are fine then theres nothing to worry about.

congrats on your new dragon :D

  • Thanks for the fast response! Really helpful! I'm building a starter viv of 3ft wide by 2 ft high by 1 ft deep. I know its not large enough for when he is an adult so will be building a bigger one. I'm planning on getting a spot lamp and a uv tube (2ft long) for day time and then to run a ceramic lamp during the evening. do you think this will provide enough heat and light?

  • well, for such a small viv i'd imagine that would maybe be too much heat, a heat mat would suffice given the size of the viv as opposed to a ceramic, the spot lamp and UV tube sound ideal though.

  • Hi awesome video. found it really helpful. I had two water dragons when i was younger. but i am now in the process of building another viv as i want another dragon. could you tell me what light sources you have in there? and what wattages? also, do u use a heat mat? cheers! rachael

  • hello Rachael, thanks!

well, from left-right (in the video) lighting-wise there is:

125 watt t-rex sun-glow bulb (i think that is what it is called) it is a mercury vapour lamp anyway.

then there is a 42" 10.0 Exo-Terra UV tube. then the second basking spot is a regular 100 watt basking spot lamp.

nope, theres no heat mat, you may wish to use a ceramic heater for night-time heating as i have found a heat mat in a viv of that size is a large waste of money haha!

  • thanks for the reply on the swimming pool contact Eric,I am not sure how much damage either that the chlorine can have...I plan on getting him his own little baby pool so he will avoid future contact with the pool...maybe we can get some more responses on the pool info...

  • yea, i would like to know also.

  • I live in NW Florida area in the states...I have a good question for you Eric...my water dragon got out today and jumped in the pool..well,he swam and when he went underwater,he didnt want to come up right away. I grabbed the pool net and scoop him off the bottom right away. My question is,how versatile are water dragons in a chlorinated swimming pool and how long can they stay underwater? He was motionless when I pulled him out,but I think he is okay..

  • hmm, that is an interesting question indeed...

i would imagine that prolonged contact with the chlorinated water would be really rather bad indeed.

it can effect the eyes and if consumed i should imagine the innards also - have never looked into this to be frank.

    rather interesting.

they can stay underwater for around 15 mins up to a half hour if they wished to do so, as an escape mechanism from predators they tend to lie motionless under water, primarily for escape from birds etc.

    Erik

  • I have fed my water dragon some harmless brown spiders, rolly pollys, and also some various beetles..what is your opinion about feeding mine these insects? With times so hard here, anything free is absolutely great!

  • where do you live?

  • feeding insects from the wild is great,m helps to provide a nice variety.

    however...

they should be colelcgted from a nature reserve of the likes as on regular sites (parks etc) hey may have been subject to being sprayed with fedrtiliser or pesticide which can in turn have negative effects on the water dragon.

    Erik

  • terrarium TO SMALL!! And NOT enough water!

  • the terrarium is PLENTY big...

  • 6 feet long, 2 feet deep and 4 feet tall for 2 water dragons trhat are both 2 feet long?

    that is plenty.

    the water is also sufficient.

  • what demensions are a bare minimum for chinese water dragons cage

  • i'd say 4 ft long, 2 ft deep and 4 ft tall

  • i love ur accent

  • you fit....in the terrarium.. awsome :O

  • what kind of uvb

    do they need

  • i personally use repti-glo 5.0 by exo-terra

  • he he my crics also escaping lol

  • dont forget to dust your crics with calcium

  • how big would u have a viv for 1 fully grown cwd ?? and how big is yours and did u build it ? and how much ?

  • 4 ft lonb, 2 ft deep an 4 ft tall would be i suggest bare minimum

mine is 6 feet long and 2 feet deep andc 4 feet tall.

i don;t rememebr how much it cost to build haha

sorry for the incredibly late reply.

    Erik

  • how long would a 2 foot last a baby water dragon

  • I agree with the post about the Petland info...they are about 35.99 at Petland and they house them with other lizards. I bought mine at the Flea Market from a lizard/snake guy for 35.00,but he has been a very healthy one. Petsmart would be a good choice, but they hardly ever have any to sell.

  • cool... what type of heat bulb do u use a tight beam?? what wattage? and do u use a 5.0 uvb or a 10.0 uvb

  • I would really like to know about meal worms...I have heard two opinions: dont feed them more than two or so at a time and then the video with the guy giving his dragon a bowl of them. I know mine eats around 6 or 7 at a time. Is this bad or should I just use them as a treat as the pet store has said. He likes them more than the crickets.

  • i would only use them as treats as they are high in shell material and difficult to digest - one or 2 as treats few and far between would be ideal

  • nice hair bro

  • Careful, I used to spray my enclosure with not even 1/4 of the water you used a day using a pressure washer which completely turned water to mist.Myy water dragon developed a fungal infection since I think the branches held the water so much that it seeped onto him, although it may have been caused by something else.I now use a fogger, and a 3ft water bowel which gives great humidity.Nice job though, just a word of warning

  • lol in canadina money a baby chinese water dragon is 30 buck.. so like ya 15-25 in the us.. actually i paid 30 box for my young male adn 130 box for my 3 yearl old fat female

  • wats the price of a water dragon???

  • it depends where your from, the age of the dragon, whether it is in good or bad condition, what store you get it from, who exported it from asia, or if its CB the price is higher and it depends on the person who bred it as to what the price would be.

  • 15 bucks.

  • 15 bucks where the heck you buying the dragon for 15 bucks?!?!?!

  • petland in northern new jersey.

  • woah where i am there like 130 120 100 bucks

  • well, i don't buy reptiles in petland.

they are skinny, and they house iguanas and water dragons together.

  • water dragon swimming

  • at 34 secs was that a cat? lol

  • no, no cats

  • a cat?:P theres no cat. what did you think was a cat:P?

  • the sound in the background at 34 secs sounds like a cat meowing

  • mine too, i'd like to know also. <3

  • i replied to the above comment

  • it could be mnouth Rot, but mouth rot generally presents as a cheesy yellow substance in the mouth - if the mouth begins to deform of there is blood - go to a vet

  • not bad mate but mines better and i got better things to do

  • i just got a new waterdragon and i need a bigger cage for him, does any1 kno where i can fing one like hiis and how many gallons is that tan?

    thanx

  • cool thankyou

  • do u think a 6ft high 4ft wide 4ft long tank would be good for a CWD

  • yes, definately

  • that may be a little bit short for a male, but would be fine for a single female.

  • hey is a 36x16x48 ok to house one water dragon or would it be better to buy a flexarium instead of a wooden one? altho those flexariums loose humidity fast.

  • hey, yes that would be ok for one water dragon, however they can get large and you may ened to get a larger viv.

the wooden would be much better

  • k thanks its just i cant find anywere tht sells 4ftx2ftx4ft grr....

  • why don't you build one yourself?

  • or have one custom built

  • iam not a very good builder lol could u send all your measurments? like the size of the glass too? thanks

  • my vkivis 6 feet long, 2 feet deep and 3 feet tall, each class panel is 3ft 6 inches tall and 3 ft long

  • lol i want a name like zilla (as in godzilla or something)

  • lol yup

  • hi i was just wondering what substrait you use ?

  • its called forest bark, i dont remember who manufactures it

  • hey man i just picked up 2 baby eastern(australian) water dragons and i am 100% sure one is a male and 95% sure the other one is a female so i will hopefully breed them when they are bigger. i dont no wat to call them tho i was thinking dino or rex for the boy and i dont no wat 4 the female (i think something to do with dinosaures would be good). any suggestions?

  • sorry, dont know a great deal about dinos so id be sueless with the names but rex & dino sound good, now its just to choose which ones

    congrats on the newbies

  • what experience level are these reptiles????

  • i would say moderate experience, a beardie would be a better large reptile as starter

  • where did u get that mister thing for the enclosure?

  • B&Q

  • hey if i have a fibre glass pond about 10 cm deep built in to my vivarium can hatchling water dragons drown in it

  • it is possible, make sure they have plenty of opportunity to climb in and out easily.

  • i used to have a water dragon but i was and didnt have a clue he died after 1 year :(

i think he dehydrated didnt mist or anythingg

might get another one i seem more in the know ,should i put crickets in a dogfood bowl ??

    and do you use mice?

  • yes crickets in a dogfood bowl, they dont get out but the wd can get to them, and i soemtimes feed my male pinkies or fuzzies as a treat, but not often, my female wont eat them

sorry to hear about ya wd

  • is your wood sealed? as you'll end up with rotted wood ^^ anyway what size viv is that..cheers.

  • yea, it is sealed yes

it is 6 feet long, 2 feet deep and 4 feet tall

  • i have to say erik uve really helped me understand n get into reptiles i us 2 think they were ugly dirty things but thanks for openen my eyes on them ;)

  • haha, your very welcome, reptiles are truly incredible creatures

  • lol i love the fast forward effects there and i like the viv and dragons of course well done. and next time buy a belt lol :-D great vid any how

  • haha yes, i know XD i have a belt now

    cheers

  • make sure there is enough heat, provide differnt types of meals like small pinkies or small goldfish, fruits and make sure water is always clean..work around these areas for a healthier CWD

  • my chinese water dragon has a growth on his chin any advice?

  • a trip to the vet will be your ebst bet, they will likely take a sample and test it to find out what it is.

  • hi i owned 2 water dragons, one was bitten by a cricket on the knee and he got a massive infection in the joint and i had to have him euthanised 2 months ago, so now i feed in a seperate enviroment to avoid this happening again. Excellent enclosure hun, it looks good!

  • sorry to hear that, its a shame to lose a pet. Thanks for the compliments!

  • ok m8, what time of day do you feed ur dragons aswell?

  • any, it isnt particularly important to get them into a set routine as in the wild they may not eat for days on end and definateky wont eat at a set time.

  • Ok, cheers :), Whats you're viv made out of btw? What wood? My dad was guna use malamine is this ok ?

  • it is "sterild OSB exterior board, and im not troo sure what melamine is... lol i dont know much about DIY

  • Ok mate cheers, also when would be a good age to start breeding my CWD's? And do i need to sperate the viv off ?

  • hey, when the female is 2 feet she could breed.

and you dont need to split it off no

  • vids*

  • Hi Erik, My dad is thinking of building a viv, would 4ft,4ft,2ft be ok for a male and female CWD at 8 month old ? Also nice viv there m8 and excellent vivs, gave me alot of info :)

  • cheers, im glad you like, yes that would do the dragins until they hit around 24 inches in length, you may then wish to upgrade it

  • how to care for a:

Will be a BEST SELLING TV PROGRAM LOL.

Why dont you get a couple of exo-terr vines in there?, in the bottom right it would look good lol.

  • series is finished

  • how did you get your vines and sticks to stay up

  • they are held in place with screws & cable ties

  • what are the measerments for your tank

  • 6 feet long, 2 feet deep and 4 feet tall

  • how much do them things cost the pressure thing

  • i got 2 for £12.99

  • very cool man.

Had mine going for some tree monitors...

So far it has held out for 3 years.
