I can always tell when a musician used to be in the marching band. No feeling, completely robotic, too stoccatto. It's sad how high school music programs ruin the musical souls of their students.

Have a few drinks, listen to the song, feel the music, think about what the lyrics mean, think about what the music means, and try again.
