Being transgendered is NOT the same as being a lesbian. Some people really need to be educated on the difference between "dressing up like a boy" and being transgendered also. This movie is not about being a lesbian. It's about a man that loves a woman and is hated for his biological gender. It's a straight relationship. There is also a lot less tolerances for transgendered people than there is lesbians by society which is sad because some of the coolest people I've met are transgendered.

I've never seen the thing the whole way through, simply because it's so disturbing and painful to watch. But this film struck such a cord with me - I swear! God, I can't help but cry because of the outcome, and the reality of it all. No one deserves to be brutally deprived of life the way Teena Brandon was, reguardless of their lifestyle, race, or gender. Hilary Swank and the entire cast did an incredible performnce portraying this story.
