It was THEN that His ministry of miracles began. Did He HAVE the Holy Spirit before this special anointing? YES! But He was NOT BAPTIZED in the POWER of the Spirit to work miracles until AFTER the Spirit came upon Him for this special ministry.
Those who criticize "speaking in an unknown tongue" are usually bankrupt equally of the other eight gifts of the Spirit found in 1 Cor. 12. And, have most likely been TAUGHT AGAINST it by some powerless teacher of the Bible (so-called) who himself is bankrupt of these gifts! Everyone who claims to speak in tongues does nothing but boast in the fact that they have a spiritual gift....isn't salvation enough? There is so much emphasis on a gift which Paul said was the lesser of the gifts...he said to seek to prophesy because it would edify the church where as tongues edify no one. So it's no good. @honeygoes247 Tongues in scripture is always referring to a real language that can be understood by men. It never means some gibberish that no one can interpret. The tongues that are used by the Pentecostals today are fake and it's not the true gift of tongues. I have yet to see tongues used biblically. Sure, there are rumors but never any real evidence of the true gift in use...same thing with healing.

@honeygoes247 I'm very familiar with 1 Cor chapters 12-14 and looking at the context of the Pagan infestation within the church at Corinth helps one to understand what Paul means. Paul speaks of two kinds of tongues...the real gift and the counterfeit. He separates the two by using singular and plural (tongue & tongues) The KJV translators put unknown in front of the singular to distinguish the counterfeit gibberish that came from pagan practices. research greek paganism...its very insightful

What is so sad is that people who actually have this gift because it was bestowed on them by being in the presence of God have to live in fear and intimidation of it because of others disbelief. Also, the northern European countries like Denmark, Sweden, and the rest both have huge numbers of atheists, and lots of wealth and happiness, as does Japan. There are for sure modern day prophets...but the problem you have today is a lot of peoples are going under the title of apostles and prophets...and their teaching and works doesn't follow. I know some say that this prophet office stopped after the apostles...they'll say speaking in tongues stopped after the apostles...they'll say speaking in tongues was for the apostles to spread the gospel. This is COMPLETELY FALSE. I can verify everything I am saying Per the word of God.
The problem w/ today is peoples are saying they are apostles and prophets..but most does not come into the office according to the word of God. To be an apostle..one would have had to hear the Lord voice... or saw Him. All the apostles of the bible saw Him in person...and Paul hear His voice. And signs and wonders followed them.
But most importantly...a God-called apostle or prophet..or preacher will preach what (Jesus) preached and what the bible apostles and prophets preached.
The apostles preached Godly sorrow Repentance, Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and Receiving the Holy Ghost just as they did. (Acts 2:1-4, 2:38)
Paul even said that we (apostles) or an angel from heaven come preaching any other gospel than that they preached unto you...consider them accursed. He even repeated it (Galatians 1:8-9) Now the question has to be posed, what did Paul preach? (Acts 19:1-7) Anything other than this gospel is not the full truth being preached.
We have to rightly divide what Paul said in (1 Corinthians 13:8) Paul main point was the Greatest Gift is Love. He was in no way saying that prophecies and speaking in tongues are ceased in our day. Jesus said Heaven and Earth shall pass away...but His words shall not pass away. (Matt 24:35) Jesus point was His words shall not pass away. We know knowledge has not vanished away. Tongues has not either. We just have hunger and thirst after righteousness and the Lord will give it to us.
con- (Matt 5:6) Paul went right in the next chapter (14) and quoted what the prophet Isaiah had already spoke of what would come to pass...in which God would speak to His peoples with other tongues. (1 Cor 14:21-22) Then Paul said it was for a sign. Just like prophet Joel had already prophesied what happened on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:17-21) (Joel 2:28:-32)

A lot of peoples does not understand the gift of tongues and "other tongues" that one experience when they receive the Holy Ghost. The book of Corinthians was written to an already saved and sanctified and Holy Ghost filled church (1 Cor 1:2) This has nothing to do w/ the Spiritual gifts. Some will say I don't have the gift of tongues. One cannot have any Spiritual gift w/o the Spirit. Before Paul gave out the Spiritual gifts He said, "and that no man can say that Jesus is Lord but by the

Just like in today's time..most every person that attend a church that profess to be saved... is saved the same way that the pastor church on how to be saved. Furthermore...the preacher is going to preach to his congregation on how he was saved. The same way w/ Paul. He taught other how he was saved. The problem is one cannot go to the book of Cor trying to find out how to be saved.
God sent back His Spirit in the book of Acts. This is the only book in the new testament where the church was born. Just like today if someone is looking into being saved. You have to see what happened when God sent back His Spirit in the bible? How did they know? What signified His Spirit indwelling them? What did Jesus say would happen to believers? All of these question has to be answered by the word of God to understand this.
One cannot go to the book of Romans and just read about confessing and believing and that is all. Of course this is part of it...but its more to it than a "mere believing". We have to be born again. We have to quit doing everything that we know is wrong. We have to rightly divide the word of God. All the books after the book of Acts was written to the saved churches Romans-Revelation.
Paul also said in (1 Cor 12:28) that God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Everything that happened in the early church is happening today. However, we do not have many apostles and prophets in today's time.

Hello...What I am passing on is what I am a witness to. The true way to be born again. Mine is not an individual story. Everything I am saying can be fully substantiated by the word of God. What I am saying doesn't mean anything if I cannot prove it. It is my job to pass it on. Jesus said we shall be a witness unto Him after that the Holy Ghost have came upon us. The Word of God tells us that the Spirit & the Word are one. This woman is in blatant violation of the Word. Yes God's Word, through the faithful apostle Paul, according to 1 Corin. 11, tells us this woman needs to be covered. Therefore the spirit which moves you to speak in tongues cannot be the Holy Spirit, it must be a devil spirit because it is not one or, in agreement with God's Word. If you read Acts 2:1-4..you will see that all these 120 were filled with the Holy Ghost and they spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. If one read first instead of thinking someone trying to twist the scriptures...you'll get more out of it. It almost like a negative attitude going into something. These 120 were waiting...like Jesus told them too...and it came on the day of Pentecost.
There is one thing about it...God is the only one that can change hearts. All we as humans can do it compel others and show them in the word. They are not the same, because of their effect, but both are wine. And the Bible does name them both "wine". Only one is "new" and the other is "old", but both are "wine"!
The reason why on the day of Pentecost when some peoples mocked and thought they (120 who were filled) were drunk is because they knew w/ "new wine" was bad. That is the reason Peter did not say "wine" because he knew the difference.

See some peoples think that it was only the 12 chosen. But it was 120 Acts 1:15..the bible say " they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. See...this lets us know that the other apostles were not preaching because Peter is the only one that preached. There were 120 getting filled and speaking in other languages.
According to Acts they never left each other (the disciples including the 120). And "all means all" Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost".
These were the one filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in all the languages it describes. Peter let them know all the languages they were speaking in...that Joel prophecy had came to pass years later. The only one that was doing the preaching was Peter. That is why Peter told them these are not drunk as ye suppose...The rest of the apostles did not preach..so it had nothing to do with preaching in tongues. Peter said they had been filled.
"After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages." Acts 8:25
"Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea." Acts 8:40
And when other preached the same thing took place when the Holy Ghost was poured out. This was recorded in the bible to show us what happens when someone received God Spirit.
Let me tell you something..a person cannot live right w/o the Holy Ghost...and even with it..we will error some. A person cannot stop doing some of this stuff that sinners do.. like cussing, smoking, lying, fornication, to name a few.
You do not legitimate in front of the people with the holy spirit. That is just for you, a helper from God. You are a light in front of the people when they see you are loving, caring, respectful, peaceful, generous. Jesus has not said: "They will know you are my disciples because you have the spirit and you will speak in tongues". He said his followers will radiate love and unity.

Everyone who claims to speak in tongues does nothing but boast in the fact that they have a spiritual gift....isn't salvation enough? There is so much emphasis on a gift which Paul said was the lesser of the gifts...he said to seek to prophesy because it would edify the church where as tongues edify no one. So it's no good. It's a sign for unbelievers...not believers. So even people who convince themselves they speak in tongues are not even using it biblically which shows its false.

Paul speaks of two kinds of tongues...the real gift and the counterfeit. What is so sad is that people who actually have this gift because it was bestowed on them by being in the presence of God have to live in fear and intimidation of it because of others disbelief. The scriptures talks about speaking in tongues and yet people read over this as if it is not there or give an interpretation that makes what they believe seem logical. I am constantly having to be encouraged about my gift because of the barrier that the church has put up b/c they don't understand it.

Also, the northern European countries like Denmark, Sweden, and the rest both have huge numbers of atheists, and lots of wealth and happiness, as does Japan. The current distribution of wealth in the world is really better explained by the Industrial revolution happening in England and some other stuff like the world wars. A lot of Christian nations have been powerful and aggressive.

There are for sure modern day prophets...but the problem you have today is a lot of peoples are going under the title of apostles and prophets...and their teaching and works doesn't follow. I know some say that this prophet office stopped after the apostles...they'll say speaking in tongues stopped after the apostles...they'll say speaking in tongues was for the apostles to spread the gospel. This is COMPLETELY FALSE. I can verify everything I am saying Per the word of God.

The problem w/ today is peoples are saying they are apostles and prophets..but most does not come into the office according to the word of God. To be an apostle..one would have had to hear the Lord voice... or saw Him. All the apostles of the bible saw Him in person...and Paul hear His voice. And signs and wonders followed them.
But most importantly...a God-called apostle or prophet..or preacher will preach what (Jesus) preached and what the bible apostles and prophets preached.

The apostles preached Godly sorrow Repentance, Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and Receiving the Holy Ghost just as they did. (Acts 2:1-4, 2:38)
Paul even said that we (apostles) or an angel from heaven come preaching any other gospel than that they preached unto you...consider them accursed. He even repeated it (Galatians 1:8-9) Now the question has to be posed, what did Paul preach? (Acts 19:1-7) Anything other than this gospel is not the full truth being preached.

We have to rightly divide what Paul said in (1 Corinthians 13:8) Paul main point was the Greatest Gift is Love. He was in no way saying that prophecies and speaking in tongues are ceased in our day. Jesus said Heaven and Earth shall pass away...but His words shall not pass away. (Matt 24:35) Jesus point was His words shall not pass away. We know knowledge has not vanished away. Tongues has not either. We just have hunger and thirst after righteousness and the Lord will give it to us.

con- (Matt 5:6) Paul went right in the next chapter (14) and quoted what the prophet Isaiah had already spoke of what would come to pass...in which God would speak to His peoples with other tongues. (1 Cor 14:21-22) Then Paul said it was for a sign. Just like prophet Joel had already prophesied what happened on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:17-21) (Joel 2:28:-32)

Paul asked them, "Have you received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" He was letting them know that just a "mere believing" does not cut it. A lot of peoples does not understand the gift of tongues and "other tongues" that one experience when they receive the Holy Ghost. God sent back His Spirit in the book of Acts. This is the only book in the new testament where the church was born. Just like today if someone is looking into being saved. You have to see what happened when God sent back His Spirit in the bible? How did they know? What signified His Spirit indwelling them? What did Jesus say would happen to believers? All of these question has to be answered by the word of God to understand this.

One cannot go to the book of Romans and just read about confessing and believing and that is all. Of course this is part of it...but its more to it than a "mere believing". We have to be born again. Paul also said in (1 Cor 12:28) that God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Everything that happened in the early church is happening today. However, we do not have many apostles and prophets in today's time.

Hello...What I am passing on is what I am a witness to. The true way to be born again. Mine is not an individual story. Everything I am saying can be fully substantiated by the word of God. Amen to that. However...if we are going to believe the bible we have to believe what Paul said in Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, One Faith One Baptism. We going to have to believe what the apostles taught. Jesus gave them the truth to give it to us...and so many preachers more less look at it like...I can be saved one way...and another another way..this isn't so according to the word of God. The Word of God tells us that the Spirit & the Word are one. This woman is in blatant violation of the Word. Yes God's Word, through the faithful apostle Paul, according to 1 Corin. 11, tells us this woman needs to be covered. Therefore the spirit which moves you to speak in tongues cannot be the Holy Spirit, it must be a devil spirit because it is not one or, in agreement with God's Word. Then tell Jesus that..cause He is the one who said that His believers shall speak w/ new tongues. (Mark 16:17) No where in the bible will you find that speaking in tongues is of the devil. This is something man made up. I am a living witness that when a person receives the Holy Ghost...you will speak in "other tongues" as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:4) Just pray and seek God...cause it is real...One day I did not believe it either.

So I fasted exactly for 40 days & 40 nights just like Jesus did with absolutely no food but only water. During this time I asked Almighty God to give me this gift if it is for me & to show me the truth regarding this matter. If you read Acts 2:1-4..you will see that all these 120 were filled with the Holy Ghost and they spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. If one read first instead of thinking someone trying to twist the scriptures...you'll get more out of it. It almost like a negative attitude going into something. These 120 were waiting...like Jesus told them too...and it came on the day of Pentecost.

There is one thing about it...God is the only one that can change hearts. All we as humans can do it compel others and show them in the word. Once a person has shown us two or three places in the bible...that substantiate a point. Jesus and Paul said this. (Matt 18:16; 2 Cor 13:1) The bible would not say it is ok to drink wine and then say it stingeth like a serpent. We have to rightly divide it. Jesus would not have refused it if it was ok. This was done to make a memorial for us.

No one can directly change your heart but yourself. God does not interven in someone's inner beeing. He made us free. The Bible contains laws and principles. Laws go for all. Principles are applied by each of us as our counscience allows us. Your's does not allow you to drink. Mine does, but in small amounts. Neither of us is a sinner. We have the Bible, but we also have the power to discern.

They are not the same, because of their effect, but both are wine. And the Bible does name them both "wine". Only one is "new" and the other is "old", but both are "wine"!

The reason why on the day of Pentecost when some peoples mocked and thought they (120 who were filled) were drunk is because they knew w/ "new wine" was bad. That is the reason Peter did not say "wine" because he knew the difference.

No. New wine drunkeness is more violent in manifestations that old wine drunkeness. That was the reason. Both new wine and old wine can make you drunk, but in different ways. Due to the low contain of alcohol in new wine, it's burning into the body is slower, thus the drunkard is more active: he sings, he dances, he talks dirty, etc. Old wine and strong drinks are like mauls: they hit you and you fall asleep or uncounscious. You just fall like a sack after you take your fill.

See some peoples think that it was only the 12 chosen. But it was 120 Acts 1:15..the bible say " they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. See...this lets us know that the other apostles were not preaching because Peter is the only one that preached. There were 120 getting filled and speaking in other languages.

These were the one filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in all the languages it describes. Peter let them know all the languages they were speaking in...that Joel prophecy had came to pass years later. The only one that was doing the preaching was Peter. That is why Peter told them these are not drunk as ye suppose...The rest of the apostles did not preach..so it had nothing to do with preaching in tongues. Peter said they had been filled.

You do not legitimate in front of the people with the holy spirit. That is just for you, a helper from God. You are a light in front of the people when they see you are loving, caring, respectful, peaceful, generous. Jesus has not said: "They will know you are my disciples because you have the spirit and you will speak in tongues". He said his followers will radiate love and unity.
