I don't believe the Bible is the word of God, but it is a reasonable chronicle of the region, just as Greek and Roman histories like Tacitus and Thucidydes give us a decent account of the Greeks and Romans. One of the best points in this video is that nobody goes to Mecca or Medina, shouting that there is no evidence of Muhammad. Likewise, we have to take the historical information in the Muslim chronicles seriously. And so on. Why is Jewish history mocked?

I am a religious historian (mainly Islamic, Babi and Baha'i history), and I know a great deal of what I study has a decent claim to accuracy. I approach this as a skeptic and have debunked more religious history than you may have heard of. That doesn't rule out a large residue of fact. The Bible is much reinforced by archaeological and extra-Biblical evidence. Better than the Qur'an.

I live in Europe and I never watch 60 minutes as I've been told and told again by American friends that it is so biased. My attention was however drawn this time to the City of David "report" and I am flabbergasted. Do you guys send your Honest Reporting video to this woman? I watched the broadcast and was struck by Leslie Stahl's body language -- I wonder if others saw it -- in grilling the Israeli subjects her face was harsh, cold and her eyes piercing -- but in talking to the Palestinians you'd think she was their grandmother. No guessing what that was about.

Please expand this kind of analysis to other samples of biased video articles, we, the public, will disseminate news of its existence. I do agree with you. I saw the piece last Sunday and was upset. I am familiar with Ir David having visited the site many times before.

In any case, part of the piece is set underground in the the Gihon Spring and Hezekiah's tunnel although they did NOT identify it as such. Here's the important part. In the tunnel there is absolute proof of Jewish ownership of the land because the people who dug the tunnel connecting to the Spring chiseled out in Hebrew their accomplishment in 701 bce.

Fair, impartial journalism is an oxymoran. Is Israel forcing Arabs, living in Israel to leave because they are Arabs? Jerusalem has been the City of David throughout history. There does appear to be a great deal of bias when this peice of 'so called' journalism is examined for it's language and political leaning. The inconvenient truth for this reporter is that the facts are recorded for all of us in the scriptures.

The classification of the non jews in the area as having claim to the city or any place in that part of the world cannot be substantiatied by any reliable historical writings.

The Leslie Stahl "City of David" piece was so clearly biased that I picked up on the prejudice when I saw it originally. I am usually fairly passive as I watch TV, but this was flagrant. I agree entirely and I think there were other examples that you did not bring out here.

I thought Doron (the interviewee) did a good job of portraying the importance and historical significance of the site. The fact that Leslie only argued his points and not the Arab's points if baffling and irresponsible journalism. Then again, 60 Minutes isn't exactly known for their praise of Israel. Using their journalism from the past as a scale, I'd say this report was decent (since Israel actually had an educated voice here).
