  • Fuck the pigs haha

  • Didn't they film this on a new SoCal freeway that wasn't open yet? If they tried to film this today, they'd be going 10 MPH the whole time

  • @veryslyfox look at some of their special fx during chases.. most of them ARE at 10mph.. they knew something we didn't

  • 2 people got pulled over by Ponch and Jon

  • I started liking motorcycles because of this show!

  • Hmm, short sleeved shirts on motorcycles? Must cause a bit of a rash if they ever came off. And as an ex-biker I should know. I always wore either denims in hot weather or leathers in the cold.

  • This was the second season CHiPs theme song .. very upbeat ... the first season was jazzed up with the trumpet in place of the violins as you can hear. I like both versions!!

  • wow what a shit intro wen you look back on it!! it stinks

  • I really miss CHiPs! This is when cop shows were fun instead of being injected with hype like they are now. I'll trade in CSI for CHiPs any day!!

  • Does anyone have Estradas number? I want to call and give him $5000 down via 800 number on the Mississippi real estate paradise of my dreams, sight unseen and totally based on his promises and integrity as a CHP officer.

  • @steelblue1 FUNNY.

  • This show was the Ultimate when I was a teenager.. decent, no nudity, no profanity, no off color humor. A great show your kids could watch without you having to monitor the channels.

  • This is retro! I used to watch with my mum when I was about 4!

  • Always loved the disco version, better. God bless!

  • yeah cocaine!!!

  • i used to love watching the re-runs of this show, i idolized these guys

  • Has anyone every noticed how close the notes are to the A-Teams theme song? at one part, it sounds like the same song!

  • Yea, I must admit as a pre-teen in the mid 70s I thought that these guys were the coolest ever, I was 8 or 9 years old then. I never knew how corrupt or trigger happy, and or how many were rednecks in the real CHIPS highway police force. Still, these guys and SWAT were my childhood idols.

  • BEST EVER!!!!!!!

  • It has a porno base rhythm and sci-fi string, horn and synth sections. Like a car accident, you just can't stop listening.

  • OH, I used to love dis show... I think I'm going to get Season 1 from Netflix

  • I wil post this song on my twin brother's Facebook page for our 35th birthday. He will laugh his ass off!

  • How do I post this view to a friends profile on Facebook?

  • This song makes me want to put on my my my my my boogie shoes.

  • sounds sooooooo 1979

  • close..1978, 2nd Season on

  • i think they use the pan european or the honda duville

  • Kawasaki Z1000,

  • i believe the motorcycles the chp use now are bmw's

  • The original intro is the very best of all time

  • LA 157m3

  • Nah The Best Part Is From 0:15 to 0:19...What Is That Shit, Like Some Kind Of Funky Ass Organ...And There It Goes Again At The End. Always Been Captivated By That Sound. Ahh...The 70's, When Shit Was So Damn Musical.

  • Edit: So damn funky!

Love this shit, and a lot of 70's funky themes!

  • probbly some programmed sound on some early psycho-synth

  • Flash backs for me I loved this show it mad me want to be a motorcyle cop when I was a kid

  • What Bikes do the CHP use nowadays?

  • talk about a blast from the past lol.....

  • The BASSLine people!!! classic!

  • Damn right!.....i was just sitting here jammin to just the bassline itself!...F...U...N...K..Y..

  • There's no doubt there was a black dude funkin that bass!

  • la classe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the L.A. freeway is a lot more crowed these days

  • And the California Highway Patrol is a lot less merciful. At least, that's what my brother, who lived in California for a time, said.

  • yep. Especially the 405 freeway. And there's that saying about the 405. It takes you 4 or 5 hours to get home. And the 91 freeway takes you 91 minutes.

  • love it

  • a memoraible of my childhood.

  • Man, this theme was so much better than the first season's theme. Love the funky bass.

  • I used to watch this show only up untl the theme song went off and then turn it off. I liked the song but never could get into the show.

  • I remember rocking out to this song as a kid!

  • i changed the channel every time this came on cause the cartoons where over by then

  • I used to race home after school to watch this show. Can't believe its been so many years. Brings back a lot of memories.

  • Anyone know the name of the freeway towards the end of the intro?

I'm thinking the 110 since it looks like downtown L.A.

  • Yes the ending is the SB 110, just before the Wilshire exit in downtown.

As for the begining scene, it was shot in glendale, on the SB 2 freeway between Verdugo RD and Mountain ST exits

  • I knew a guy that tried to get hired with the CHP and during his interview they asked him what he knows about the CHP, and his answer was "Well, you guys had an awesome show in the late 70's."

    He's still security at Wal-Mart.

  • That might be you?? haha!

  • Thats funny bro!

  • That's too bad. The guy knows CHP history and gets canned? xD

  • lmao!!! He didn't say that did he???

  • @SledgeHammer15 ROFL LMAO

  • @SledgeHammer15 funny ha ,love it

  • I watched this daily after the Price is Right was over at 11am when I was a kid and home on summer vaction.

We were not rich so my folks did not ship me off to summer camp. This was maybe 1986-1988 or somewhere in there. The show seemed very dated even back then but I LOVED it.

At the time I thought the women on the show were ugly but boy was I wrong...heavy makeup, big hair, and big...uh...they were babes!

  • I watched this daily after the Price is Right was over at 11am when I was a kid and home on summer vaction.

    -me too...

  • awesome i loved this show as a kid

  • Great show. Great music. Lousy bikes. This is America they should be riding American iron.

  • i loved the chips!

  • Suddenly i'm 30 years younger!! prime time Saturday night viewing!!

  • Diggin the funk in that bassline

  • This was a great show just like the A-TEAM!

  • still a great show. saw it on tv couple years ago...tv land or nick at nite

  • CHIPS were the bloody best!

  • CHiPs was another fine crime drama TV show from the 1970's. I believe this was the TV show that got Eric Estrada started with his career as an actor and an entertainer. It made him very famous.

  • Besides the episodes from this very nice TV show from the 1970's, I also loved the theme music to this show. It was very nice!!

  • My favorite intro of all times. I remember bein 4 or 5 and I loved it. My parents told me that I only talked about "Chip's song".... It was a long time ago.

  • There are several versions - which year is this one?

  • A true classic. Great theme. The traffic on the Harbor free way looks light compare to today.

  • God help you if this pair of assholes wanted to pull you over; Fuck 'em & run.

  • This not the original version; The original version was more jazzy, and had a trumpet solo at the bridge and vamp; circa 1977 hmmmm.

  • This is DISCO CHIPS. They used this theme after the third year or so.

  • Actually, the original "jazzy" version was used only in the first year (1977-78). If I remember right, the first episode of the second season had a "roller disco" theme and they changed the theme music to match it...

  • I was the BIGGEST Chips fan!!!!! Still love theme.

  • Me too man......

  • Same Here!

  • sound like disco, or porno music

  • one of my favorite tv shows

  • this was my favorite with The Incredible Hulk
