@altell12 HE FACT That the "Patriots" are called that and FACT That they wore RED,WHITE,BLUE And had a BIG Ceremony BEFORE The SuperBowl being introduced as THE TEAM of America pretty much sums it up and as for 9/11 itself...back 10 years ago i woulda called anyone a FOOL to their face if they said 9/11 wasnt a Inside Job but TODAY with ALL The Evidence, it's OBVIOUS 9/11 WAS An inside Job, sadly but the Government has it ways to cover EVERYTHING UP! Military Planes hit the towers.
@dahger7 U say ignorant things like that bcuz, well, it's hereditary. That was totally stupid & I'm putting u on blast!!! Bigots like u are lower than earthworm crap!
Why bash other singers bc they sang this song? This is how you expect it to be? This is America, everyone is different, and free to be that way. How can people say stupid shit?
There seems to be a guy person named k2boarder2007 who says "it is to be sang with heart! But not with the vocal bull shit you dont see ppl singing the amazing grace that way, because they sing it the way its suppose to like it should be with the national anthem! Its called respect" Where did the Amazing Grace comparison come in? That sounds kinda stereotypical, or even racist. If you don't like Whitney's way of singing the Anthem, then NEVER listen to it again!
With all due respect to Ms. Houston, I do not believe her version ranked ahead of this one. Too many people are allowing the emotions of the times to sway their opinions. Unlike Ms. Houston, none of the singers in this video were paid one red cent for their performance. I"m sure Whitney got a nice check indeed for her singing, and that's all well and good. But please keep that in mind for the future.
Whitney Houston 1 (absolutely incredible), Marving Gaye 2 (the most artistic and soulful performance ever), and everyone else, thank you for your patriotism. God bless America!
The Best sung version probably happened in some middle school auditorium in 1941 with 187 people present....by a girl whose Father was just killed in war.....
@barkbarkbarkbarkable Seeing as pearl harbor happened on December 7, 1941, if any of what you said were true it probably wouldn't happen until 1942...
@barkbarkbarkbarkable Yes. My (almailman) point, exactly. This isn't a talent competition. One of my favorite versions is by the "Cactus Cuties." They were taught who wrote the "song," by who, and under what circumstances. Did Whitney, or does Marvin know this?
Why say Whithney houston 's version was better the person who posted this knew who he was going against and knew this version wasn't better, but this was a good one don't get me wrong.
Stop it with the Whitney Houston mentions, let her rest. Jeez, a famous person can't let their work speak for itsel because people gotta keep bringing it up.
This was better than any rendition imo cause it was sung by the men & women who protect the flag & the song has for years been dedicated to.
no offense but i don't think this is in my top 3. Just a straight forward rendition. It's nice but any state choir could replicate this. The Whitney and Marvin Gaye renditions can never be duplicated only admired in awe.
@rapvideo Point made! It is a "straight forward" rendition. This is our national anthem, not a soul, jazz, rap, hip-hop, or whatever genre that would be a showcase for anyone's (yes, Whitney included) theatrics or range. Ms Houston was an incredible talent, but give me a rendition sung by a middle school chorus, maybe some of who's parents served or are serving; maybe even lost a parent. They understand, or at least realise, the price paid.
@rapvideo it is way easier to sing a song by urself ur way. you have a group of people working together to achieve a goal here which is way more impressive.
@sargeanthulka nope. This is EXACTLY the rendition I expected to see. Any other would be playing second fiddle to this. On the video of this that has had over 7 million hits, I have well over 80 "thumbs up" for my comment on it, and that was about 7 ot 8 months ago. To this day, I don't think any other comment is even close. It begins with "YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!"
This is nice but it was done by a group. Whitney Houston is one person and did a much better job than anybody/any group who has sung the anthem to date!!
@mattissoc00l cause she has soul, meaning, feeling, impact this is jus sung, whitney made it her on song thats why..and many other reasons i can state all day R.I.P WHITNEY WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE U she had meaning in her tone something these folks no offense have
@mattissoc00l speaking as a "troop" which is a word we really don't use to refer to ourselves, this is beautiful, but Whitney's version is definitely the best and has a lot of meaning due to what was going on when she sang it.
I'm sorry but I'm in the NAVY and I say this is the best version. The people who serve your country are singing this. Whitney was good but this is the real deal here. Doesn't get any better than this.
@Truestgamer it is to be sang with heart! But not with the vocal bull shit you dont see ppl singing the amazing grace that way, because they sing it the way its suppose to like it should be with the national anthem! Its called respect
@k2boarder2007 No.... YOU'VE never heard Amazing Grace sang that way. Being a singer & musician, I have heard some of the sweetest SATB arrangements & renditions of a plethora of traditional & contemporary songs. If u don't like the way Whitney Houston sang it, don't EVER listen to it again. I like this version bcuz I LOVE a cappella singing. I don't take anything away from this video. But to bash Whitney & her style is just nuts!
LAY OFF OF WHITNEY GUYS. IM NOT EVEN INTO HER MUSIC LIKE THAT. I KNOW SHE HAD A TON OF FLAWS AND B. BROWN DIDNT HELP MUCH EITHER. BUT THATS WHY I LOVE HER FROM MY HEART CUZ I GOT FLAWS TOO. SHES A ONCE IN A LIFETIME TALENT AT LEAST. DONT HER COMPARE HER TO A 300 HEAD ENSEMBLE.
WOW ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING? IT TOOK 100 HEADS AND IT STILL FALLS SHORT OF WHITNEY. HEY ITS AN OPINION. ALL IM SAYING IS WHITNEY DIDNT NEED THE WHOLE "HEY LOOK AT ME" PRODUCTION. SHE JUS CAME OUT IN A FRIGGIN HEAD BAND AND TRACK SUIT AND DELIVERED A PERFECT PERFORMANCE. ITS LIKE HEY " I KNOW I CAN SING MY BUT OFF DUE TO THIS GOD GIVEN TALENT BUT IM ONE OF YOU AND NO BETTER THAN ANY OF YOU . I GET A DIFFERENT VIBE FROM THIS ONE .
@Mrjuliusastin12, she has a good voice BUT she did like everyone else does and puts their vocals in, they all need to sing it like it was written and stop with the stupid shit! This was the best I have ever heard! This is the way it needs to be sang!
@k2boarder2007 If everybody sang like it was written, it would be the same exact thing over & over again. People have their right to their individuality. Everyone does things the way they feel. Nobody plays a sport the same way. Everybody doesn't sing the same songs the same way. Whitney never changed any words, and her annunciation was quite clear. This IS the way it was meant to be sang, with heart!
I do like this better than Whitney's performance cause it's the people that serve our country who are performing it. The one thing people don't talk about is the musicians that were not born in America who get to perform our national anthem
@ all the people saying that Whitney Houston did the best, you're only saying that because she just died. I'm pretty sure Hendrix did the best version ever at the Woodstock, even if he was still alive, I would still be saying, that, because for singing it, it's easy, cuz all you have to do is know the words, but for Hendrix, he had to listen to it and figure it out, there was no tablature out there yet, but there had definitely been lyrics out though. Hendrix's version is far better.
@JetFireROCKS1 Funny, because Jimi Hendrix didn't sing the National Anthem, he played it. For sure it was the most creative instrumental rendition of the National Anthem, but the Anthem is properly recited by singing it. Without the lyrics, it's just an instrumental piece of music which could be anything. The lyrics are what make it our National Anthem. Many people sing it well, but in my opinion, Whitney sang it best. She sang it with power befiting a song of it's magnitude and importance,
@JetFireROCKS1 Since I originally heard Miss Houston's rendition of it years ago as a young child, it has been burned in to my memory. When I first heard her rendition of it, I was like wow, now that is how you sing this song. Her being dead now does not form my opinion at all nor never has. Jimi also didn't even stay on point with his version, as part way through it, you can't even tell it's the National Anthem, and then further along in the song, Jimi goes on a huge non related tangent.
It amazing, four choirs from four different military schools whos voices combined sound good, and they didn't even come close to Miss Houstons rendition. This was four choirs, and they still didn't come close to out shining just one women.
@redmr2na In my humble opinion, seeing these folks sing for the country they love and serve is better and touches a deeper place than any person who sings it simply for publicity or money any day. Especially if said person later becomes a crack addict, blames it on PRESSURE and STRESS, and then eventually succumbs to her addiction by dying. But I guess you're right...well...nah...no you're not.
@robsetser Ok, I'd like to point out a few things wrong or that I disagree with what you said. Firstly, All of these people are in the armed forces, choosing to make it their careers, a career of killing people, loving your country and serving has nothing to do with love per say. Secondly, how do you or any of us know that Whitney sang it for publicity and or money. She was already a grammy wining singer, so what did she have to prove to anybody? Thirdly, all people famous or not have demons
@robsetser Fame however magnifies these demons, because it gives people the means to "Feed them" for lack of a better term. Fame, greed, money, and power are the roots of evil to which the demons span for the famous, though you do not have to be famous to have these demons, but again magnification. These famous people don't know what else to do with their "means". After they buy all the clothes, cars, houses, Jewelry, they then turn to the last thing there is to indulge in which is sadly....
@robsetser drugs. Their means allow, and encourage them to do it. Most of the people addicted to drugs or other illegal substances, don't have the means to get all they want or need to feed the demon, the famous do. Then the demons fuck with peoples heads so that they rationalize their behavior in their own minds and or make excuses for why they can not get away from them or it. So that's my opinion. Enjoy the video, and never focus on the bad, negative things, that effect people's lives.
Hahaa this is not even Top 10. Ever heard of Whitney, Cher, Beyoncé .... just cuz you're a mom of a boy or girl singing there doesn't make this the best rendition ever. #Pathetic
@BEEyonced You are talking about our Nation's National Anthem. It doesn't matter who sings it, but what matters is that they stood and sang the Anthem. I wonder if you would sing that song on National Television.
@SeirraNevada and what, nothing what you addressed is controrary to my post! This for sure is not the BEST, only their moms could possibly find that the best. Like said! OK -it doesn't matter who sing it, but one cannot claim one version who's star-far away from the BEST as the BEST. I cannot sing and that's also not the debate neither. Put that word BEST out of description and all is cool. Noone is saying anything bad, but it's irritating and disrespectful to REAL GOOD SINGERS!
This was very good, but this is NOT the best national anthem ever! Whitney Houston's version blew this one out the water!!! No offense. They interviewed the orchestra director later on abt that performance, and he said that Whitney Houston hit notes above the orchestra, and he'd never seen anything like that before! Whitney was just that naturally musically inclined, and gifted! U don't need 2 go 2 school 4 music 2 hear that!!!
You can see Tom Brady in this one, and also in Mariah's rendition. Maybe they should superimpose him in the '91 Superbowl and the '83 NBA all-star game, just to keep the theme going.
It is a great rendition of our national anthem..But in my humble opinion..Whitney Houston's version is the best ever..In a distant 2nd..The guy who currently sings the anthem @ the CHI Blackhawk games..The 'Roar On The Shore' they call him..That guy could belt it out as well..& I remember a trio of concession workers @ the BFLO Sabres vs Ottawa Senators doing a great acapella version B4 Game 7 in the 1st rnd of NHL playoffs @ HSBS Arena, in
'97..now 1st Niagara Center in BUF..Popcorn sellers!
I HOPE ALL THE LOW-LIVES WHO ARE BASHING WHITNEY HOUSTON DIE A SLOW MISERABLE DEATH OR BETTER YET HAVE ONE OF THEIR LOVED ONES BECOME AN ADDICT...YOU PEOPLE WERE B ORN WITH SILVER SPOONS IN YOUR MOUTH AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT A HARD LIFE IS...NOT SAYING SHE HAD A HARD LIFE BUT DRUGS DO TAKE OVER AND IF SHE HAD TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN I BET SHE WOULD HAVE NEVER STARTED....BOBBY BROWN IS THE LOSER HERE FOR NOT STOPPING HER FROM TRYING TO BE LIKE HIM...FUCK ALL OF YOU PIECES OF MOOSE SHIT...
People, whether you like it or not. Whitney Houston had a phenomenal voice...she just sadly got led down the wrong path and just didn't pull out of it. What we should remember Whitney by is her amazing voice, not the other side of her life.
i think this is the best because its sung by our real heroes and these men and women will be serving our country after graduating there respected academy.
@mendrmic you should appreciate every crackhead. Just because you were lucky enough to not have drugs enter your life and to be raised in a sound household where you are taught right from wrong doesn't mean you should group crackheads into a category below other people as it sounds you're doing. Every crackhead is a person, often one who never has a chance to succeed beyond their circumstance, who made poor decisions because they knew no better and ruined any semblance of a life they had.
Sorry for the lengthy comment nobody cares to read but perhaps my least favorite thing about American culture (and I am American before people assume I'm bashing the country) is how we look down at the homeless and the addicts as less than people or even people with whom we should not be concerned. Everybody is a person in that position perhaps because of one or two bad decisions for which they have suffered for every moment since. These people desperately need help yet we ignore their
existence because we'll hope they'll just go away and they make us uncomfortable. Well maybe we're all a little too god damn comfortable with out ridiculous sense of entitlement for being born into circumstance greater than 99% of the world's population. I'm so sick of every short-sighted person complaining about their minute little problems and taking everything in the world for granted. I don't know how I rambled so heavily on this topic in such a random forum, but we're no better than they
This just in... L.A. County Corners office. Los Angles CA.
Bobby Brown was arrested today rifling through MS Houstons personal possessions. When asked for a comment, LA County District Attorney explained, He kept yelling "Ax that bitch wheres my shit."
its not about the dead becoming a saint in our eyes, but rather that we remember some of their finest moments because we all make bad decisions. we must make sure that those do not drown out the good we might have done in the end.
@ph0chiz0: No one is saying Whitney Houston is a saint, and for that matter no one among us is a saint! The thing is, unlike you most of us that are decent human beings would like to remember her for the contributions she made to our arts, whether through her music or her acting. Most of us realize that people make mistakes, and what she did was hurt herself, no one else. So why hold it against her? You are not God, so do not pass judgement.

Marvin Gaye sang the national anthem better than anyone. Watch that shit, chills in your spine.
heyimsamie 1 week ago
I do like this better than Whitney's performance cause it's the people that serve our country who are performing it. The one thing people don't talk about is the musicians that were not born in America who get to perform our national anthem
comeonman89 1 week ago
@comeonman89 Whitney was born in New Jersey, which is in America.
KeesusChrist 1 week ago
@ all the people saying that Whitney Houston did the best, you're only saying that because she just died. I'm pretty sure Hendrix did the best version ever at the Woodstock, even if he was still alive, I would still be saying, that, because for singing it, it's easy, cuz all you have to do is know the words, but for Hendrix, he had to listen to it and figure it out, there was no tablature out there yet, but there had definitely been lyrics out though. Hendrix's version is far better.
JetFireROCKS1 1 week ago
@JetFireROCKS1 Funny, because Jimi Hendrix didn't sing the National Anthem, he played it. For sure it was the most creative instrumental rendition of the National Anthem, but the Anthem is properly recited by singing it. Without the lyrics, it's just an instrumental piece of music which could be anything. The lyrics are what make it our National Anthem. Many people sing it well, but in my opinion, Whitney sang it best. She sang it with power befiting a song of it's magnitude and importance,
redmr2na 1 week ago

This was four choirs, and they still didn't come close to out shining just one women.
redmr2na 1 week ago
@redmr2na In my humble opinion, seeing these folks sing for the country they love and serve is better and touches a deeper place than any person who sings it simply for publicity or money any day. Especially if said person later becomes a crack addict, blames it on PRESSURE and STRESS, and then eventually succumbs to her addiction by dying. But I guess you're right...well...nah...no you're not.
robsetser 1 week ago
@robsetser Ok, I'd like to point out a few things wrong or that I disagree with what you said. Firstly, All of these people are in the armed forces, choosing to make it their careers, a career of killing people, loving your country and serving has nothing to do with love per say. Secondly, how do you or any of us know that Whitney sang it for publicity and or money. She was already a grammy wining singer, so what did she have to prove to anybody? Thirdly, all people famous or not have demons
redmr2na 1 week ago
@robsetser Fame however magnifies these demons, because it gives people the means to "Feed them" for lack of a better term. Fame, greed, money, and power are the roots of evil to which the demons span for the famous, though you do not have to be famous to have these demons, but again magnification. These famous people don't know what else to do with their "means". After they buy all the clothes, cars, houses, Jewelry, they then turn to the last thing there is to indulge in which is sadly....
redmr2na 1 week ago
@robsetser drugs. Their means allow, and encourage them to do it. Most of the people addicted to drugs or other illegal substances, don't have the means to get all they want or need to feed the demon, the famous do. Then the demons fuck with peoples heads so that they rationalize their behavior in their own minds and or make excuses for why they can not get away from them or it. So that's my opinion. Enjoy the video, and never focus on the bad, negative things, that effect people's lives.

BEEyonced 1 week ago
@BEEyonced You are talking about our Nation's National Anthem. It doesn't matter who sings it, but what matters is that they stood and sang the Anthem. I wonder if you would sing that song on National Television.
SeirraNevada 1 week ago
@SeirraNevada and what, nothing what you addressed is controrary to my post! This for sure is not the BEST, only their moms could possibly find that the best. Like said! OK -it doesn't matter who sing it, but one cannot claim one version who's star-far away from the BEST as the BEST. I cannot sing and that's also not the debate neither. Put that word BEST out of description and all is cool. Noone is saying anything bad, but it's irritating and disrespectful to REAL GOOD SINGERS!
BEEyonced 6 days ago

Neilios106 1 week ago

I don't know how I rambled so heavily on this topic in such a random forum, but we're no better than they

its not about the dead becoming a saint in our eyes, but rather that we remember some of their finest moments because we all make bad decisions. we must make sure that those do not drown out the good we might have done in the end.
bwootenwntd 1 week ago
@ph0chiz0: No one is saying Whitney Houston is a saint, and for that matter no one among us is a saint! The thing is, unlike you most of us that are decent human beings would like to remember her for the contributions she made to our arts, whether through her music or her acting. Most of us realize that people make mistakes, and what she did was hurt herself, no one else. So why hold it against her? You are not God, so do not pass judgement.
