  • Archer won that fight with his jab alone ! Joey Archer was a masterful boxer ! His foot movement and left jab alone was a joy to watch.

  • how was mims robbed? he was the harder puncher but was thoroughly outboxed here

  • Mims from DC!

  • It angers me that Mims was outright robbed in this fight due to the color of his skin. As another poster said, this wasn't the only time.

  • These guys were great. You don't see movement like that today. It's a shame Archer couldn't pull out the decision in his first title fight. He'd be champ today.

  • Archer was a great fighter, Mims was tough..Archer was not a puncher but a classic boxer

  • Quite a treasure trove of these early-60s Don Dunphy-announced ABC Saturday Night Fights now being sat on by ESPN. Zora Folley-Doug Jones II, Harold Johnson-Eddie Machen, Mike DeJohn-Robert Cleroux, Dick Tiger-Henry Hank, George Benton-Johnny Smith, Billy Daniels-Tony Alongi, Gaspar Ortega-Billy Bello, Joey Giambra-Farid Salim, Emile Griffith-Denny Moyer, Rubin Carter-Gomeo Brennan, Joe DeNucci-Joey Giambra, Giambra-Yama Bahama. The fighters were matched to go the distance; usually, they did.

  • Holley was the best of D.C. Had a mean left. He was robbed of this fight and many more!

  • what a great boxer joey archer was, well he had to be didnt he he didnt posess any ko power. One of the most rounded fighters in history. 45(8)-5
