This reminds me of Ike. When I read the bulletin from the NWS saying that in certain areas of the TX coast, if you stayed, you faced certain death, my jaw dropped. Then, hearing officials telling those same people to write their name & social security number on their arms for post-mortem ID, I was staggered.

I went to Galveston about a year after Ike. You could still see the waterline on buildings...3-5 feet above your head.
