@soundpurestudios Haha, that's OK I was distracted by how neat the aging looks.
A '50s Gibson collector can spot one detail even in a picture. On an original 'burst, an imaginary line drawn straight down though the tailpiece should pass evenly between the 2 knobs underneath. Not on newer ones - all more recent Gibsons, the 4 knobs are noticeably closer to the pickguard! If ever in doubt.
I know that simply installing an Air Norton into my Les Paul won't make it sound like one of these Nash guitars and I'm fine with that, but do you think I could get more clarity and a thicker "rock" sound out of an Air Norton than I could out of my stock Burstbucker 3?
@HearingLossProvider Honestly, it's hard to say on our end considering all of the other variables involved in the aging process. We'd recommend comparing the manufacturers' specs and descriptions along with online reviews by folks with LPs comparable to yours!
@soundpurestudios LOL, just messin. I had a 1960's Les Paul with a spider webbed laquer finish. I hated it and I hated that I couldn't refinish it without ruining the value, but I did get it cheap because of it. Kind of funny that people actually want them to look worn out now, too bad I sold it 18 years ago.
@SJBikesaws Heheh... no worries! If that's all they did to get paid, we'd ALL be in the wrong business! These things are masterful rebuilds... they leave our shop as a brand new, mediocre, amateur playing instrument, and return with the feel, sound, and setup of a fine relic. It's like a time warp. There is a reason people pay $50k for originals. There's also a reason people pay Gibson $10k for "custom" reissues. These smoke the Gibson Reissues at half the price.
@po1212Po There is a fair range of them from Nash, each one is one-of-a-kind in that regard. It might be something that we can bring in special-ordered for you, or figure out how to get you one that is a bit cleaner. These are indeed on a different stratosphere over the Gibson Custom Shop Relics. If you are looking for a mind-blowing, non-relic'd paul-inspired instrument, the McInturff Carolina custom and Comins Lyrist are both remarkable. e-mail: electrics@soundpure(dot)com anytime!
so they took a perfectly good Gibson Les Paul, beat it to shit, and now it has increased in value? This is just one of those things I will never comprehend.
@guitarcreep94 It's easy to undertstand if you have had the opportunity to play one before and after. I think the key to what you just said was interpreteing a brand new off-the-shelf Gibson as a "perfectly good" guitar. Sadly what comes out of the factory is simply not ready for top-of-the-line prime time. By the time that Nash gets through with them, they sound and play like a truly superior guitar. If you had the chance to try the before and after like we do, you would be truly amazed.
@soundpurestudios i understand that some guitars play better when they're worn in, but is it really neccessary to make it look like its been through WW2?
@guitarcreep94 While not necessary, it is what most people prefer when they want a guitar to look vintage. This relic thing has been around for a while now- Nash is certainly not the only people doing it, it just so happens that they are the best. The Gibson Custom Shop actually produces plenty of relics themselves, unfortunately, the relic'ing does not appear to be as natural, and the setup, playability, and tone are simply no match for the Nash-aged LP's. You really should try one in person
@guitarcreep94 he doesn't just beat them up he improves the wiring, fretting, changes the pickups, modifies the shit, and boom you got a true to vintage guitar
@DeathlokdEaDpool1 good humbuckers generally run 120-175 per pickup in most cases. We highly recommend Lollar, Fralin or even the DiMarzio's that are used in these relic LP's. Keep in mind- pickups will help improve your tone, but will not make a bad guitar sound great. gotta start with a good guitar. most of your tone is in your fingers!!
@shadowkrypton If all he did was scratch, we would wholeheartedly believe you. These leave our shop as brand new, mediocre Gibsons, and return as absolutely top-tier custom-created relics, with a very realistic vintage vibe. These are completely re-worked from top-to-bottom, essentially almost everything is replaced, including the finish, tuners, pickups, fret work, and adjustments made that take it to a world-class level. These play better than the $8k Les Paul Custom shops we've seen.
@zbiggie229 Wish it was as simple as installine new electronics... these things are completely reworked, and in addition to getting the custom-wound vintage pickups, they are also aged in a proprietary nash way. There's a lot of secret sauce that goes into making these the caliber that they are. That being said, replacing your pickups is something that you can always do, and might be a good use of $200-300, but you can't expect that alone to get them to sound a play like these, unfortunately.
YOU TAKE A GREAT LES PAUL AND BANG IT UP LIKE IT HAS BEEN DRAGGED BEHIND A TRUCK, AND PEOPLE PAY YOU FOR THIS???? I THOUGHT I SEEN EVERY THING IS THIS WORLD, BUT THIS TAKES THE CAKE......
@DIOSpeedDemon You probably don't know much about vintage or relic guitars. The purpose of THIS is to take a guitar to the point at which is feels, sounds, plays, and looks as though it has been in the hands of a serious player for many decades. Given that a good '57 Les Paul can fetch $250,000, & these are designed to chase those tonal capabilities, it's actually a pretty reasonable approach. These literally sound, play, and perform far better than what you can get from Gibson w/out mods
@soundpurestudios I know enough not to destroy a new Gibson Les Paul, for any reason. A vintage Les Paul is Bragging Rights to other musicians and that is all. It is an expensive game that Very Few play or can afford. Taking a Tripple AAA maple top and defacing it, is sacriledge in my opinion. If you can get people to buy your product, then more power to ya. I just dont like seeing a Gibson Beat up for any reason. RH DSD
@DIOSpeedDemon To be perfectly honest, there is nothing AAA coming out of the Gibson Factory. And, for that matter, Gibson does their own relic'ing in their top-of-the-line custom shop, and offer comparable relics to this (in terms of the concept), and yet they cost twice, and don't perform anywhere nearly as good. There is a tremendous misconception about the "quality" that is coming out of a factory that is craning out tens-of-thousands of guitars by machine. Please come try one of these!
How did I "cause you to waste your time"???? You neither had to read or respond to my posts! That was YOUR CHOICE! They weren't really for YOU anyways. They were to WARN people not informed enough yet that this BULLSHIT is a WASTE OF YOUR MONEY! Spend your money on things that make the guitar SOUND BETTER! @bbnatedogg Your cluelessness is monumental. If the purpose of your existence is to bash our site, our videos, or the products that we get behind (because they actually sound, play, feel) better than the garbage that you can buy on the wall of a guitar center, then you have no value here. Bashing the concept of what is here is a 100% clear indication that you have absoultely no idea what you are talking about. Relic or not, these Nash LP's smoke anything stock Gibson has done in many years.
RELICING IS FOR WANNABE FAGGOTS ANYWAYS! DOESN'T HELP THE SOUND ONE BIT. BREAK YOUR OWN FUCKING GUITAR IN OR BUY ONE USED THAT DOESN'T COST A BUNCH EXTRA FUCKING MONEY FOR SOME DIP SHIT TO SCRUB THE PAINT OFF OF IT

@Disco234jockey Quite honestly, we don't think that there is a guitar business out there that it more customer-focused, and that will go the extra-mile that we will go with any of our customers. The bottom line is, that some jerk online that has never bought, and will never buy is not exactly the "customer" that we strive to work with. We find those that support us online are our customers. It is extremely costsly, time consuming, and great thought to make these videos and keep them coming!
how does a guitar that beat to shit with the finish all the way worn off the neck have zero buckle rash? come on people there is a very small group of people that know how to relic a les paul, these guys are not one of them. check out the les paul forum to find out the real good guys in this market.
@JKryanX Guitar relics just seem to make some people really pissed off...and some people really happy. Fortunately, the happy ones just buy guitars and become even happier, while the pissed off ones just leave comments on youtube videos and get even sadder :( And yes, they do refinish them.
so you dont refinish them? so they still have the thick plasticy gibson finish on them? everyone do yourself a favor and the money you would spend on the aging put it towards a historic les paul. they sound way better than a standard ever will.

We don't understand why people take the time to complain about something they don't like. stick to strats if that's your thing. everyone who loves the aged nash LP's will do so and get along just fine. We have non-relic LP style guitars you may love. check out the site and let me know!
@fistomania This video features several of the Nash Les Paul finishes, including honey, cherry, dark burst, and tea burst. Each piece is very unique though, and the color can vary widely between each one. I am particularly fond of the dark burst, but one of the great things about Nash guitars is the individuality of each instrument! Have a look at our website to browse through our inventory and contact us for any information!
@itsdave10001 Thanks for the comment! Perhaps that's why these are one of our best selling guitars in our high end boutique. These are truly magical relics, some of the best we've seen from any builder in the world. At the moment we have 4 on the way that aren't spoken for, and would be glad to talk to you about these incredible instruments in more detail if you'd like- we are here for you! Thanks again for your comment and support of Sound Pure.
@MrXAVIERDB This has nothing to do with Gibson. We send stock Gibson Les Paul Standards to Nash and they don't only "Age" them, they replace and upgrade pickups, electronics, the thin nitro finish for vintage resonance, smoother neck feel, dressing and leveling of frets better than any plek machine could ever do and a variety of other tone and playability upgrades. Clearly, aged guitars are not for everyone, but these are our best selling guitars, so we have no complaints
@AppleFaction We think so too! Not only do these look vintage, but they play and sound like a vintage les paul. There is a long list of work done to these guitars that make them well worth owning! If you have any questions about these guitars or to see what we have available, contact Sound Pure! I'm in the guitar department and available to answer any questions you may have
Sorry guys, I really don't get it. What's the point of taking a new guitar and bashing it up 'till it looks old?
Changing electronics? Fine. Nothing wrong in doing that.
Dressing the frets? You can see by the sticker that the "new" guitar is plekked, Nothing you can improve on the fretboard I think.
And wood of the guitar is still going to be young and it's not going to resonate like vintage wood (that's the real difference in vintage instruments), no matter how badly you chip the laquer.
@francescomagro Dressing and leveling the frets is a HUGE improvement on the imperfections of plek. This line of guitars is one of our best sellers, The wood may not be old, but applying thin nitro instead of poly allows the guitar to breath better, and with the combination of great pickups and electronics, it really sounds, feels and looks like a vintage guitar. Bottom line, put one in your hands and talk to the guys who own the first 30 something to get an idea of why we love them
@francescomagro "And wood of the guitar is still going to be young and it's not going to resonate like vintage wood (that's the real difference in vintage instruments),"
If you put laquer on your guitar, it is to prevent the wood to "change". It's suppose to keep between 5 and 12% moisture. And you can use very old wood to make a new guitar. The only difference between nowadays instruments and "vintage" instrument is how it's made. Eventually the look will make you think it's better.
@Joni0001984 We're not pushing sales on anyone, just letting everyone know how others have been reacting to these guitars. We hope you found enjoyment in this video. Thanks
@hockeynpolo Thanks! We're loving these les pauls! Nash is doing an amazing job with the full vintage overhaul. We can barely keep them in at the shop. Just got a new LP60 #13 in today just so everyone knows! call or email Sound Pure any time
