but if it were to be applied to a rock song it would sound pretty cool. Thats what all the great classic rock bands did. they took simple, easy blues tricks and applied them to rock to make it sond amazing

You have missed the point. It's to show that you can use alternate chords and is for beginners. If you are so way advanced and this is a bore for you, then ok... why bother to say it? Just makes you look arrogant and/or stupid that you didn't get it. You can bet that this guy is a great guitarist and is simply trying to help some beginners get started.

either way he aint really playing "notes" per say. chords yes. theyre all 9th chords im pretty sure, and i think in this case the root notes are c, then d (c9 then d9)

You don't get it thats why. That riff is like

foreplay on a women you build up the tension slowly like a good stew thats the blues. But your bluesscale rock or throwing in riffs all over the singer and band is Rock blues or male ego masterbation. Thats why the Blacks rule the blues they understand the sex in the music.
