People, did anyone find the final confrontation between the first warrior and the dying norseman a bit anti-climatic. Did I miss something? The mystic said that the first warrior was the 'heart', just as the Queen was. But he's easily dispatched and his fellow warriors don't do a good job of protecting him either. This final battle seems too short (I know we've had lots of battle scenes earlier) and it doesn't seem to give the opponents as much menace as they had earlier.
The only time in history where you can grow you hair long and have a beard without being call a scumbag :( women today want men with Justin Beiber hair, moisterized skin and soft supple hands. It might have been a much harder life back then but it's much harder when as a man you no longer know your place in the 21st century.
I just succeeded in getting this DVD back from a pal after he'd borrowed it for Three Months - great movie, I should Never have told him "Hey man, you should see this!"
@slideharp1 I recently loaned out Valhalla Rising & Leon: The Professional to a couple of different people, i am now in fear of losing both copies.. lol ;)
@blade004 I just saw the 'Valhalla Rising' trailer and must look for the movie. I also saw 'The 'Norseman' trailer (1978). Check it out, it's hilarious!. The Vikings all have Enormous horns on their helmets and the 'rough seas' are clearly shallow water going over rocks. Nothing that odd about an 'African slave' with them, but it's the guy who used to push 'Ironside' around in the old serial and he is too mellow looking for a Viking. The voice over is real silly, too. Recommended.
@andyfoxy1 They weren't, you idiot - they were Christians. And they were not Norse, they intermarried with the Vikings after the eastern portion of England had become The Danelaw. Prior to that, a sentence was inserted into a church-prayer: "God help and save us from the fury of the Northmen"
@slideharp1 Ok, you smart twat they were Germanic pagans which is basically the same religion and I know that for a fact. They weren't Christians until they converted so shh up.
@andyfoxy1 You don't know your ass from your mom's cunt. You've obviously never heard of (the venerable) Bede. England was Christian before The Vikings. If you've never heard of the synod of Whitby (664AD) then you can LOOK IT UP, learn something and STFU, dumb bitch.
@andyfoxy1 No, you were completely wrong. Your head's up your mom's asshole, you could pull it out, give your lonely brain-cell a chance to function and give the smelly old bag a break.
@slideharp1 HAHA I win because you turn to pathetic insults. I don't have a mom - I have a mum you stupid american hill billy. p.s You don't know shit about the saxons. You are a joke. Norse paganism and germanic paganism is the same religion. How the fuck do you not understand this? accept it.
@slideharp1 No true Englishman would ever say mom. "But they weren't the same People" - No shit sherlock- the religion is the same as I previously stated.
@andyfoxy1 Oh hey, sorry for saying 'mom', comes from playing in New York for twelve years and New Orleans for five - you want me to apologise or something?, go soak yr head. No Englishman Who Knew What He Was Talking About would say "The Anglo-Saxons were Norse pagans". When the Vikings first attacked England, in 793AD it was the Holy lsle of Lindisfarne, in - a place of Christian monks, scribes and a Centre of spiritual learning to the English -Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Frisians, some Celts, etc
@andyfoxy1 drats! - I forgot to mention the Danes, also. They came with the rest of the English, the early ones not the ones that Alfred the Great held off, that was later. The Danes as they came with the original waves of invasion/settlement were from an island tucked inside the Baltic corner of the peninsular.
@andyfoxy1 Why are YOU still commentating? this isn't supposed to be a never-ending contest, what's all the "I've won, I am right" horseshit?. You just changed your entire posture, wtf you think people don't SEE what you wrote?. You first wrote: "The Saxons were just Norse pagans" - now, after much correction from me you agree that they were GERMANIC. You fockin eejit.
@andyfoxy1 So the NORSE pagans invaded the land of the English/Saxons who had been not just Embraced Christianity already, they'd established monasteries, churches and produced highly scripted and illustrated books. They'd also been long sending-out monks and missionaries to all parts of Europe. Assuming you've heard of St. Aiden...St.Patrick??. This was over two centuries before before the Norse/Viking pagans sacked Holy Isle, and didn't convert til they'd become 'part of the English'
@slideharp1 You are clearly retarded. Germanic Paganism and Norse Paganism are one in the same. CAN YOU NOT READ. Why don't you read a book. You clearly said that the saxons were Christians. Which is wrong because they were converted into Christians but were not originally.
@andyfoxy1 You are clearly in dire need of Attention from me, as I've given you two pages of education already, following your first brainless remark. Constantly pulling my shirt to demand my Attention is something you should've moved-on from by now. Now that you've looked up all the things I Told you to look up on your little wiki (I did say that you wouldn't have to read a Book - I already did it for you) maybe you can see your last rhetorical rant as "the last word" - it's my gift.
@slideharp1 I'll repeat for your sake. You are clearly retarded. Germanic Paganism and Norse Paganism are one in the same. CAN YOU NOT READ. Why don't you read a book. You clearly said that the saxons were Christians. Which is wrong because they were converted into Christians but were not originally.
@slideharp1 Well as I've been to many saxon burial grounds and read many articles on the matter I think I would fucking well know. Christianization of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms began in AD 597, influenced by Celtic Christianity from the north-west and by the Roman church from the south-east, gradually replacing Anglo-Saxon polytheism i.e paganism. SIMPLE
@Marghulis That ONLY depends if youre bloodline are germanic/Nordic.If youre not from these sacred bloodline..So be.. Be proud of youre heritage anyway and youre culture if youre not germanic ore nordic. And dont think youre welcome in the halls of Ásgarðr fucking wannabe vikings.Deal with it.The one eyed god of the north have spoken.
@GhettoeuleOGG Unlike many other religions that have Heaven or Hell as a final destination after death, Norse myths indicate that there are many possible locations. I just used a common term in english that wannabe vikings would understand..
@SeigSel I got viking blood in me and iam well informed about the religion of my ancestors. As iam not original english i was just confused because you used Odin and Hell in one sentence.
5 people didn't have the balls to take their place in the halls of Valhalla like the rest of us who were of Viking descent (im half Norwegian..a 233lbs 6'2 nut job and half British)

@streetgang12345 lol same here! I was in the middle of a conversation with a friend i was watching it with (didn't much care for the movie) when I stopped mid-sentence and turned to the movie to hear this.
@streetgang12345 This part is from Jerry Goldsmith - Valhalla/Viking Victory and starts from the 3:00. I don't know what's the name of this song in Kingodm of Heaven, but let me know if You find out.
Ok. Just saying, if I ever get poisoned in the line of duty, I totally want to go out like this guy. *Salutes* greatest death-scene/movie. The entire cast was perfect, not to mention that the soundtrack was /amazing./ Good job Jerry Goldsmith!!!
In deutsch that would be: tun sie niedrig ich sehe meinen vater, tun sie niedrig ich sehe meinen mutter und meine schwestern und meine brüder...Tun Sie niedrig dort ich sehe die linie meiner leute zurück zum Anfang! jetzt, dass sie mich nannten, ließen sie mich den platz unter ihnen nehmen...IN DEN HALLEN DER WALHALLA...wo tapfer auf immer leben kann!...well this is just for the ones who would like to have a closer Viking pray, I know it's not the same, but german is a little bit closer...
And what do you think Vikings were praying about that time? To unfairness of capitalism? Despairing over comformist model of families that are so loved by film-critics right now?
It's an action adventure movie, what the hell you expected... sighs
