  • You go, Janis!!! No whore make-up, slutty clothes or auto-tune, just real, raw talent. There will never be another like her.

  • I think the true gold standard for any artist is to "make you feel"---

and Janis Joplin had this gift in spades.

  • I still have Festival Express the DVDs "Cry Baby" makes me very Happy!!

  • i love janis

  • I love Janis but God she looks unhealthy here. Not surprising i suppose.

She must have loved that gold vest. It appeared often!

  • The intro alone is magnificent.

  • I get chills everytime I hear her, my mom loved her my dad saw her in concert, and I can FEEL every word. This lady had balls

  • What a marvelous, intricate, and precious young woman.

  • I seriously doubt we will EVER hear a voice with this much soul again. It can't be taught, inherited,or given. I've been waiting over 40 years to hear anyone that will even remotely comes close to our Janis. Poor baby, if she knew how much love and respect was directed towards her after her death......maybe her life wouldn't have been filled with so much pain.

  • @nerblebun I agree we will NEVER see anything like Janis again-it's not possible given today's mindset. She was the most influential woman in Rock and she didn't live long enough to realize it. But I have to say Stevie Nicks came the closest ! Both are legends and, to me, were the only two that would leave you spellbound !!! Also, because her life was filled with so much pain was why she was able to give so much of herself in performance. I was fortunate they were both from my era....

  • @LarryPayneDance you got it right... Janis and Stevie... two Queens that will always rise above all the rest.. No one can or will ever close to either of these Angels. R.I. P. Janis..

  • @xan700 start with this one Janis Joplin-Me and Bobby McGee

  • ...

  • Like court cobain.....

  • Damn, could that girl sing...she just pours out her her heart in her music!

  • she was amazing and I well never let her die in my heart.

  • a voz dela é é maravilhosa... pra mim a melhor .

  • She was a sad but beautiful soul. If you think you are exposing something people didn't know...or understand...you're an idiot. We all felt her pain...and identified with it. Like Morrison and Cobain....she couldn't overcome it. She said...She went out and made love 25,000 people, and then went home alone.

  • Always LOVED JANIS

  • the most beautiful women ever love you janis!!!

  • luv it, she was a friggin GODDESS!!!!!!! R.I.P. dear janet...

    i was born 2/22/70

  • luv it, she was a friggin GODDESS!!!!!!! R.I.P. dear janet...

  • Greatest performer of all time!

  • @Thepast2012 I believe the lord works in mysterious ways and he sent down some angels to talk to the people that could not be reached any other way. They were not into church or the Bible they were into drugs and sex like her. When she was finished testifying the lord took her on back home. I hear the message loud and clear.

  • SHE STILL HOLDS WORLDS BEST FEMALE BLUES VOCALIST,,IN ONE SONG SHE HIT 7 NOTES,,,,,,,,,NO SINGER ALIVE CAN DO MORE THEN 3 OR 4,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SHE WAS TRULY FABULOUS,,I MISS HERE,SHE TAUGHT US SOMETHING ABOUT SOUL,SHE WAS WAY AHEAD OFTHE TIMES ,R.I.P J.L.J

  • "just like the capricorn i am" lolzz mee too :)

  • My God this performance is so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so GOOD. Jesus, it was executed just perfectly. Every note is belted without the least bit of regret, and tons, tons of emotion.

  • @deruginan REALMENTE TE PARTE EL ALMA EN MIL PEDAZOS ,TE DESGARRA TE DESTRUYE LAS FIBRAS MAS INTIMAS DEL CORAZÓN Y LUEGO TE ENSAMBLA DE NUEVO CON OTRO TEMA,ALUCINANTE,LA ADORO.

  • janis was like a shooting star bright ass hell even if it was for a short time.I still lay on my bed looking at her album covers, or her cd covers. album covers are better.

  • @peacedragonflly1 Your awesome.

  • Don't you love her?

  • Like a brilliant star.

  • Totally fuckin awsome!! What a bad-ass chick!!, love ya Janis.

  • This is a very painful performance for me to watch.

  • Ami Amor Eres Tu' Janis! Man, I have alway's LOVED YOU! Sing um a song in Heaven, girl. This rendition of Cry, is rare!

  • nie ma wiekszej wokalistki na swiecie

  • Thrilling. Her voice was going down by then but her on-stage feeling was and will always be unmatched.

    RIP you legend

    Thanks bulldozer.

  • There will be NEVER be another Janis. Joss Stone comes damn close. I wasn't even blessed to be born in Janis's era, but I discovered her and it will NEVER be a regret. Her soulful longing-filled voice will never be forgotten. I so love Janis for being herself & saying DAMN U to the industry. She speaks volumes with her songs, & she out so much into her performances, I so admire her for that... Damn Janis, I wish I could go back in time & meet you & share a So-Co. To my musical soulmate. Cheers!

  • It has been 40 years since anyone has heard her voice and we will never hear anything like her. man i will never hear anything so soulfull in my lifetime as fantastic as Pearl, i was totally born 10 years to late. JANIS JOPLIN LIVES!!! in my heart and my iphone :) she really was a class act and a classy lady, if she hadn't died the way she did she might have suffered an agonizing death later in life. she is missed by all who love her music.

  • It has been 40 years since anyone has heard her voice and we will never hear anything like her. man i will never hear anything so soulfull in my lifetime as fantastic as Pearl, i was totally born 10 years to late. JANIS JOPLIN LIVES!!! in my heart and my iphone :)

  • ..sad to think this was video taped shortly before her passing.

...good performance however for "gut wrenching soul" I prefer the incredible live 67' version of "Ball and Chain

  • Janis died in 1970, Oct 4. This year was the 40th anniversary of her passing. Yes, she was, is and always will be the Queen of Blues. She was amazing and thank you to everyone who puts up her videos for us to view. Janis you are still loved.

  • Ya know, some people can pull rabbits out their hats. Do all sorts of magic tricks...but Janis....only Janis can pull on the heart strings and wail out the love inside as if her heart was right there......thanks for puttin this up...and her heart..it is man....right in everywhere her voice rings. Again, thanks for putting up this video.

  • RIP Pearl January 19, 1943 - October 4, 1970

  • This is one very good clip. I really loves me some Janis.

  • now that's a woman

  • @spudtu she really was a classy lady, wasn't she.

  • grande janis, sei sempre spettacolare!

  • superinvaders,best emotiones

  • 110%

  • Gracias Janis!!!!

  • la unica cantante, blanca que las negras no an podido superarla,,,,viva janissss

  • It's a voice that has that grit that soul u know the stuff that im talking about man.

    female version of Joe cocker

  • i love her .. gives me goosebumps.. sucks she died!

  • She was absolutely AMAZING!!

    Incomparable x x x

  • There really was only one Janis. If you were to cast a film about her now, who has that heart to play her?

People shouldn't be so tough on the kid (xan700). Judging by how he's judging Janis, sounds like he comes from a right-wing home. Hopefully, as he matures his mind will open up. In reality, though, lots of people don't *get* her...

  • she can sing wow

  • I can FEEL her passion. Janis sang from her soul, she sang with every ounce of emotion in her, everytime she performed. A TRUE ARTIST!!!! We don't get this type of raw spirit in performers anymore. Some may come close (Pink, Melissa Etheridge) but they have been refined and packaged to appeal to the masses. Janis was untameable. Oh and she died in 1970 not the 60's ;)

  • personally, i think her voice sounds disgusting - burned throat full of tar and tobacco, thats what it sounds like

  • @xan700 What a sad sad sad person you must be if that is all you hear.

  • @orionmonroe @10huxley im 12 years old -.- and i do music, saxophone and piano so im pretty sure i can hear better than you two

  • @xan700 Millions and millions of people disagree with you. I see that you are only 12. Take the time to learn from the best that there ever was. This is what REAL music sung by REAL people sounds like. The stuff people do nowdays is edited and perfected by machines.

  • @xan700 i'm 3 years older then you, and i'm pretty sure i can hear JUST as well. you need to realise that there are different types of music, just because you don't like this type doesn't mean it's bad. It's called respect buddy.

  • @xan700 Music ain't dots on a piece of paper kid.

  • @xan700 surly thats what was soo awesome about her she never sang well she always screamed and screeched but its frickn amazing bet u couldnt get anywhere near as good as her,one of the greatest loss to human kind

  • @10huxley that´s not true, listen to this one Janis Joplin-Me and Bobby McGee

  • @acoronab .ease up,ive listened to it many a times my friend shes still has that same tone, like she could never be in a choir or anything like that.dont get me wrong shes my fav artist i grew up on her music.

  • @xan700 If you researched before running off at the mouth, you'd know that she actually, naturally, had a very stereotypically 'beautiful' voice and worked to have the voice she's famous for instead because she wanted to stand out and do something special that got the attention of people who reach for a little more. Which she accomplished beautifully, and will always be remembered well above thousands of nitwits who can do it just like everyone else, for it. =)

  • @xan700 You've got a lot to learn about music, kid. Music it's not always about good sounds. It's about what makes you feel. If you don't like what you feel, or don't feel anything when you listen to Janis, then don't waste your time.

  • this great a old favorite keep them coming

  • It's such a shame that so few men who crossed her path understood what she expected from them or how to provide it....

  • Thumbs up if you listened to this song twice!

  • god bless ever one!!!!!!!

  • You know, I just can't watch Janis for very long anymore. I just get so fucking sad I want to cry.

  • Janis is and always will be a one of a kind. Her power, soul and feeling is unmatched. No one will ever cover a Janis Joplin song and due it justice, she is the greatest of all time. I hope in death she got what she neverhad in life, eternal peace.

  • @dwkv77 well fuckin said ...

  • OMG Love Me some Janis!!

  • That's not only a once in a lifetime experience, it's absolutely unique, and I do cry when I see and hear this.

  • that great god, that you, this woman was singing with heart, with shouts of his heart. never heard a so Mejer, singing with that strength and sadness. janis far the best Yankee .... it hurts .... and worse still in texas. where he was born into the world's largest Nazi BUSHHHHH ....

  • SHE IS SO.. i dont have words to explain what i feel everytime i listen to this woman's voice i would pay anything to return to the time when she was alive and go to a concert,

  • She had her heart in the right place.

  • Just to compare the great music of yesterday with the crud of today, consider this; if Janis went on "American Idol", what would Simon say? He'd say something rude and send her on her way!

  • shes a queen, a true pearl.

  • putain sérieux je donnerai tous pour la voir en concert juste une fois y pas de mot pour décrire se que je ressent a chaque fois que je l'écoute (j'ai beau l'écouter des millier de fois j'ai toujours la même émotion )

    I love JANIS !!!

  • As I was born in 1964, Ididn`t grow up listening to this enormous queen, but once I heard her, I just got captive of her magic. Love you kozmic witch!

  • The shame is the music industry now is only looking for sombody that looks good in a bikini. Janis was very average looking, ill take average in music if they can wail like that : )

  • the one and only real rockchick ever!!!

  • I'd give all my tomarrows for a single yesterday to be seeing Janis alive in concert.

  • @TheRachakins I really would, seriously, I really would give all my tomorrows for a single yesterday to see the one and only, Janis Joplin.

  • sargelee4I really fell my soul when janis sing the true rock and roll qunee of time

  • Janis is incredible! I love her!

  • Many good imitators, but she will always be the one...

  • @koishooter man, its Janis fucking Joplin, theres one and only one. The ones who try to cover or imitate, are loosing their time.... they should try someone who was less "unique"

  • Amazing.... Love it. :-)

  • this is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Janice we love you and you'll be remembered.

To all of you out there, if you like these songs downloaded it now before the WMG spread their dirty grabs and seize rest of the songs. The best videos are gone thanks to greedy WMG.

    Thank n' cheers.

  • "you know where your life is?...your life's waiting like a GODDAMN FOOL right here!"

  • Couldnt have said it better myself lol

  • Unbe#@%#inglievable...I love you Janis!

  • sclogse1-That was Festival Express and it is available on DVD. I have it and it is awesome. Nobody like Janis, This is my favorite song and this was taken in Toronto during Festival Express.

  • amazing voice !!!

  • Awesome.

  • So, I saw a film about janis and a train trip...about 3 years ago or so..hit the theaters...did it ever make it to video/DVD?

  • @sclogse1 the festival express, was limited.. the damn people didn't think kids these days dug that kind of stuff anymore.

    assholes...

  • I always try to get my expletives right...in this case, I imagine the distributors made the call, so, I'm calling them broko's...which is the first you've heard of this term, soon to be a staple in our language. Ot, the theatres make the call, do to slow biz. I assume as of this moment the festival express is not on DVD...but am not sure.

  • This woman can still make grown men cry

  • @paulypaulification that is so true i cry every time i hear this song for the last 41 years i miss her so much

  • Can't express myself how much I miss her.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Comment removed

  • She's scratching a lot because of the heroin. She's pretty fucked up here but she wrestled the song to the ground like a pro wrestler. She's awesome.

  • No to be pedantic, but she was off the junk on this tour. It was all the booze & I think coke that makes her voice scratchy. Still, Janis's worst show beats Vadge & Britney's best live bowel movements.

  • How would u no if she was off the junk... What u think this tour she only did coke and booze. Unless ur Janis Joplin u dont no if she was on dope or not. Don't believe what u read.

  • @Jonnobaas Whom ever u are U suck. She, was awsome if u cant see that u are retarted. We love her in Iraq.....Dont be a punk....The women had alot of words to say. NO matter what states she was in....... We all love this girl...

  • @Golaso112You know, it you & I were sitting across a table you would understand that I loved Janis as well. In the summer of 1970 her voice was starting to show the effects of long term heavy drinking.

    That is all.

  • If you can't feel the emotion of this song, you're dead.

  • True ,,,,,so True ....what am i doing in Casablanca ? why do we already know what they have to learn?

  • So what are you ding in Casablanca?

  • I'm soooo in love with her voice!!! OMG JANIS!!! <3

  • Starting at around 2:00.. if you don't think she is sincere .. if you can't feel the heart.. you may be dead..

  • People that saw her early on say that by the time she started recorrding, her voice had already lost some of it's power. if that's true. . .and hard to believe. . .Pearl must have been something to behold.

  • Is still she still dead?

  • The "American Idol" crap will never produce anyone close to this.... jmho...

  • the beginning is unbelievable, gives me chills everytime i hear that raspy, soul voice rip through the air

  • @rdubbsnj i almost cry, it's so beautiful

  • the one and only, she IS the queen of soul funk and blues all in one precious package that we lost in the 60's. so many have tried to imitate her but can't come close to the energy, soul and heartbreak that Janis poured into her music. miss you Pearl xoxo

  • @rdubbsnj She died in 1970, not the 60s, and Pearl was the worst part of her; the facade she had to create out of a feeling that no one could ever love her as she was, so calling her that is pretty... well, lame. Just saying.

  • @panicxitsxbrea Hey I think (just an opinion) you need to stop fretting the specifics/correcting people so much and just focus on the music (though you're right, she did die in 1970). It's not so much of a facade. People admiring her music and the genuine emotion she expressed does not mean that she "created the feeling of loneliness" within her. It's a feeling that is within us all and that not all of us find solace from. It's hard to relate to people sometimes. Feelings are real, obviously.

  • @panicxitsxbrea Just remember that while music and other forms of expression give us a glimpse into who people are, it is truly just a glimpse...and not the whole picture of course. Maybe she felt like no one truly knew and loved the entirety of who she was. Again, Loneliness comes from a lot of places. It isn't simply "people not loving you." It's not feeling like you have that true, deep, personal connection that you want...to not feel complete, you know?

  • This is great....i cant get enough of it

  • Janis was the ultimate performer!!! I love her so much!!! rip Pearloxoxoxoxox

  • The perfect group

    Janis female vocals

    Joe Cocker male vocals

    Guitar Jimi Hendix

    Drums Ginger Baker

    And a few others...

  • She is just so awesome. Bill Hicks had to love her. She gives it all.

  • You were right! must see or die!

  • i got shivers...

  • incredibly expressive voice,five stars aren't enough !!!!!!

  • I used to sing this song as a girl and I just love Janis...she was SO real...unlike the studio b.s. from today.

  • Thanks to share it, remember to me that I am alive!

  • Janis keeps popping up all over you tube and thank god for that.

  • right?

  • As right as can be.

  • Wielka Janis na zawsze!

  • This is a good video of Janis...

I wish I could have met her during that

    time.She Rocks!

  • We love her because she sang from the heart...and yet, what gave her all this feeling, was the suffering she went through...thats what made her cry singging...how can we love what caused her misery...

thank you Janis you paved the way for womens liberation. love you always

  • MY friend......how I miss you....all my love as in the past. My Comet child.

  • where'd that white chick get that soul? I think it's from hard knocks . . . . those have no color barrier

  • i jus cant seam to get enough of this song iv eard it 10000 times an i... cant get enough...

  • WE LQQK JUST A LIKE

  • I FEEL U HOME GURL

  • JANIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!Her voice is a legend! And yes your right, no one can or will compare to Janis!

    RIP!

  • Nobody can compare with her.

She had the best of both voices ... that "hardcore sinner" voice and the soft-hot-buttered-angel voice. She knew how to mix them up in one tune and rock it out the house!

  • your right. if one have seen/heard that, he will die in peace. what a great voice and lovely woman.

  • two best singers in the world: robert plant and janis...... JOPLIN!!!!!

  • it saddens me to think that being from a younger generation (i am 21), i will never get to witness true musical talent/female artists like this. there are no "joplin's" on stage now... just young "hoochies" that shake their asses more than sing (if you call it that). for janis it was about the music and passion. now, its about the fame, money, sex, and so on...

    Janis, you are missed...

  • Remarkable, so much SOUL it churns my belly and pulls my heart strings. Just brillianc.

If there's an after-life i so hope she is full of peace and great, great joy.

  • A sad example of someone who couldn't break free of the same ugly they were made by.
