  • Ms O'Brien, I was started on bass as an 8th grader, saw you on TV in a Young People's concert, and that's why I'm a bass player.

  • One of my heroines. A class act for sure!

    ?;^)

  • Orin O'Brien is an articulate and gracious lady, who also happens to be one of the best bassists on the planet! When female bassists were denied orchestra jobs, Orin's audition obviously stood out - Bernstein insisted that she join the NY Phil. Ms. O'Brien has my respect and admiration, and I use her as example to my students when I'm illustrating work ethic. Brava!

  • She does come across as a lovely and articulate woman with a great talent. Sadly, her late brother Darcy was the complete opposite, the semi autobiographical book he wrote was rather tawdry and extremly unpleasant, it wasn't particularly well written considering he was a Professor of English. Kudos for Orin for all her great achievements

  • Orin is a passionate musician and very articulate and technically observant in her comments. She obviously inherited her parents' gifts of verbal communication. It still makes me smile that this lovely and charming lady was the first female to play with the NY Philharmonic and bassist no less! You go girl! and have been going for A LONG TIME!!
