I had a fella that taught me how to play the harmonica that he had met and played informally and i have always wanted to sit down and play my harp with these guys....
I had a recording session at a studio in Springfield, MO in the early 70s and the OMDs were just finishing and leaving. It took a couple of hours to clear the smoke out.
This was the first OMD song I ever heard and it was live at a free "concert" in the basement of Gentry Hall at Mizzou in Columbia. Around 1971. The first set was accoustic with them sitting on fold-up church chairs.....great introduction to country rock for a 21year old kid.........been a great fan ever since!!! Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting this Wildwood video. It helps me relive the experience I had there. Listnin' to OMD makes this hillbilly homesick. These guys have such talent and I am grateful that they share it with such joy and enthusiasm. They are STILL the Ozark Mountain Daredevils!!!
reotwo1, did you record this? Whoever recorded this has a great camera and did a great job. Thanks for posting this quality material!
I just discovered this band a couple days ago, and I'm seriously considering buying all of their albums in one big purchase because I love their music!! The funny thing is, I don't consider myself a "country guy." I'm very much into classic rock, and these guys just blew me out of the water. They've opened my eyes to country music.
@jcdenton7 > I have been watching these guys since 1972. They really are not 'country' rock. I have heard them refer to themselves as weed a billies. Their music is timeless yet is so early seventies. All of their music is so very joyful. It has brought me through many hard times and given me a perspective many many times. Maybe it should be called Tao-a-billy
Same here Karen. '76 was a really hot one here in England. The Ozarks, the Doobies, Little Feat even the Eagles all seemed to be just right. So glad people are loving this stuff
I know the Ozarks since 1983 and I love their sound. CIAO from Italy
