  • @MrAbomasnow yes. everyone uses it for everything. dropping ticks is common while using the glitch because if you hit a note directly after a sustain right on time, you will miss the note (at a low enough calibration)

  • this is... what is this. The notes are disappearing earlier than even on the Wii. How do you even know what to be hitting.

  • you hit about 2009 notes a little early

  • @nickelbackhero19 nope never hit them early he's playing on beat

  • shit

    this song is pretty hard

    how could you fc it

    i cn't even pass it

  • Comment removed

  • luckily for me i dont care at all about solo scores im all about the full band and this isnt necessary, amazing that you can do this under that lag

  • Holy crap. Unless I tape some kind of string to my TV to indicate where the timing window is, I would NEVER be able to play like that. That's awesome!

  • this song makes my fingers bleed

  • wait im confused how the hell did u get over optimal

  • do you think this could make the psychobilly freakout last whammy in gh2 possible strike?

  • @RealGM: Yes, it's possible to get enough SP for an activation from the last phrase alone. It has nothing to do with latency though.

  • Damn nice fc, especially with that lag.

  • Can you do this on Guitar Hero? that would be pretty cool. Oh wait, can't you do an easy expert glitch or something?

  • Well, yes, but EE is considered cheating and any scores obtained using it are illegal.

  • you have any advice how to set my RB2 lag well on my LCD television?

  • SalmonSnak3 or w/e stole my Detroit Rock City 1st with this glitch. Its the only 1st place I actually tried hard to get >_>

  • It's like the notes don't want to explode so they disappear before hitting the note bar.

  • That's so weird. The game engine actually thinks the sustained note is still going when it should have stopped, very nice. I guess that's how people can lose online matches when they activate Overdrive at the same time. I've won and lost a few matches like that by just a few points, usually less than 10 to 20 points.

    Awesome trick, and nice FC.

    5 stars :D

  • 1. should this qualify for leaderboards?

    2. is this fixed for RB2+Beatles?

  • 1.) Yes considering anyone can do it anytime. And considering the negative lag settings are even there.

2.) Probably not, since they planned to fix the strum limit 8+ months ago, and still didn't fix that for the Beatles (not that it matters for that game, but still...).

  • I agree. RB2 I got 2k more points on Master Exploder FC from doing this trick, still bad score but it works. The only bad part is front end squeezing is impossible.

  • Holy fuck that's some intense lag you put on here.

  • i thought it was crazy when chris would get 200 above optimal on gh2 but 1396 thats unheard of, nice job

  • Considering Rock Band does not have an easy expert mode, it's definitely not.

  • the timing window is still the same if you were hitting the notes as they came across you would prob miss actually

  • It probably isn't, since he is playing Rock Band.

  • This will be really helpful for songs like When You Were Young, that last Whammy is nearly impossible for me

  • tags ftw

  • i was waiting for a video of this

  • Whose asshole did this video come out oi

  • YOU CANT GET ABOVE OPTIMAL optimal is optimal meaning that this is optimal

  • I think he means above what was believed to be optimal, and you're technically not supposed to be able to do this

  • He doesn't mean actual optimal. He means the optimal score predicted by the computer generated path

  • @knoxra umm he just did prove it was possible. People have programs that map out the best paths you can use calculating the highest score possible. Using this (I use this term loosley here) exploit it's possible to get above said optimal score

  • @knoxra i see you posted this 2 years ago. but id still like to point out that this isnt optimal. there is only one optimal for each song. he got above upper bound... not above optimal.

  • WOW. The lag would kill me...

  • that's fucking legit. most impressive thing i've seen since microgamer fced solo b n c on slow.

  • strike loves squeezing 0_o

  • tiggght

  • i got -200 away from optimal :(

  • i dont get what happened...

  • he set the lag calibration so he had to hit all the notes super early, but that allowed him to get more whammy on the last phrase of overdrive in the song, so he could activate overdrive one more time and get more points

  • ohhh ok ty

  • as for fixing this, i don't think there is a way. i think they're just counting on people not being able to play like this

  • i could NEVER play like this. that's just annoying

  • indeed it is =X

  • The fuck.

  • lol at the note streak 2009

  • lol 2009 NS

  • oh my. how long do you think it will be before the scorehero people decide this is illegal

  • They wont "decide" its illegal. If games allowed you to do this, i dont think they will delete score for this.

  • We've known about it for a long time. We couldn't really discount lag calibration, since some people need it to play normally, plus it's really hard to play with the visual so far out-of-sync with the audio anyway. As much as we don't like abusing lag calibration to bolster squeezing, it's allowed.

  • Probally quick. I hate that site.

  • win

  • lol 2009 note streak

  • lol 2009 streak

  • so basically it squeezes for u but dont u have to hit a note late before activating or r u doing that ??

  • this could be the most influential GH/RB video since that first Jordan tapping vid that seems so long ago now...

  • lol 2009 ns

  • Interesting.

Imagine playing like this with break neck speed on. <_<

  • I play with my calibration on Audio 25 Video -25, and I always hit that whammy. I guess I am just lucky. But I have a question about the Give It All Sustains in the beginning of the song. How exactly do you get the whammy? Because I can only get it 1/10 times

  • this is insane. props

  • lulkoool

  • so basically your pushing the notes back but still strumming on time?

  • Yes, basically. You play to the audio of the song. Still hard as hell to do though, especially while squeezing.

  • lmao u fcd this on -175? how the fuck

  • Actually ukog did this ages ago with jprez, but we never thought of it until I thought of how in hell sk8 can get the 1 early whammy at the beginning of DRC. I tested this method on that and sure enough it worked.

  • that's insane lag dude

  • he sets it negative for squeezing

  • yeah I know

  • WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THIS IS HARD?!?

  • Woah, I thought I was tripping on acid when I watched this.

I really think its amazing that you can play like this. Just the slightest bit of lag would screw me over.

  • at first i thought your timing window was unreasonably large but then i read the full title

  • i've been playing on lag in rb2 since it came out. never seem to get the right calibration.

i complain about it endlessly and then you go and fc snow with -170 video :'(

  • looks annoying how the notes are hit...

  • I remember he almost hit Blackened Solo A with -300 calibration XD.

    This is insane :D

  • i don´t get the hard in this song...

  • The impossible riff that only John Frusciante can perfect :)

  • Wii players have to play like that :(

    Or at least I do.

  • Me too... Kinda sucks...

  • dam how can u just adjust urself to play like that....damn dude thats hardcore

  • wow youtube comments. a lot of them more dumb than I've ever seen.

This doesn't change the timing window. I still have to hit notes within 100 ms of the timing window.

This doesn't change how many hold points there are. Hitting the sustains just makes the tick count start and end later than the video lag.

This however does change how much whammy you get because you whammy earlier and it ends later than the video lag.

This doesn't change whammy rate however.

  • nice, very smart

  • so trippy

is this just something to make abuse of the timing window easier or does it actually change the value of sustains?

  • someone confirm this for me.

If he was playing without lag its impossible to whammy 2 bars of overdrive out of the sustained notes?

  • no hes playing IN lag on purpose

  • Yes, that's the purpose of the lag, to make OD become obtainable on those last whammys.

  • why do your ntoes disappear so early?

  • I don't know...

  • easy expert??!!!

  • lol wtf?

  • how the fuck

  • Why do you say "I hope they fix this for the next game at least, or hopefully for RB2 and the Beatles game." in the video description? Did you do this on Rock Band, before Rock Band 2 came out?

  • lol :DDD

  • Oh god it's true...

  • the lag is to help the held down notes

it basically makes them longer than they really are, giving you more points

  • no, points don't change. The point counter just starts and ends later. Whammy for Overdrive, however, starts earlier and ends later.

  • couldn't that like completely mess up the path though?

  • It may only alter it slightly, like maybe you activate one note eariler or something, but it probably wouldn't change it completely except for songs like this one where there's now an extra activation at the end.

  • haha lol bug

  • not really the easy song, that everyone has optimal on that i was expecting haha

  • what's the calibration set to?

  • 0 for audio, -170 for video. I have a vid of me doing it and I might upload an explanation vid with annotations to go along with the calibration vid.

  • please do

  • please do, that would be very cool for all the n00bs out there who don't know too much about this lag calibration trick (like me)

  • yeah please

  • Actually it's at -175 video GeraldLaird. W/e u get the idea.

  • Is that lag that makes him strum early

  • I don't get what the deal with the video lag calibration is...

    inb4lolstupid

  • Probably he plays it really early and gets the last OD...

    dunno

  • Once again you've created a whole new level of play....saw the thread on sh

  • wow holy crap, i could never figure out how you get that last overdrive, now i know how. Great vid and nice 1st place

  • Lol at the lag calibration :p

  • The calibration makes it look trippy as hell.

    O_O

  • lol How long did this take you?

  • It took a day or 2. It was very annoying to do.

  • I could imagine. o.o

    Great job on it.

  • coo;

  • lol 1st comment...

  • FURST IS FOAR FAGZ!

  • FU..

  • lol mr serious cat.

  • lmao

  • lol 1st reply
