@MrAbomasnow yes. everyone uses it for everything. dropping ticks is common while using the glitch because if you hit a note directly after a sustain right on time, you will miss the note (at a low enough calibration)
Holy crap. Unless I tape some kind of string to my TV to indicate where the timing window is, I would NEVER be able to play like that. That's awesome!
That's so weird. The game engine actually thinks the sustained note is still going when it should have stopped, very nice. I guess that's how people can lose online matches when they activate Overdrive at the same time. I've won and lost a few matches like that by just a few points, usually less than 10 to 20 points.
1.) Yes considering anyone can do it anytime. And considering the negative lag settings are even there.
2.) Probably not, since they planned to fix the strum limit 8+ months ago, and still didn't fix that for the Beatles (not that it matters for that game, but still...).
I agree. RB2 I got 2k more points on Master Exploder FC from doing this trick, still bad score but it works. The only bad part is front end squeezing is impossible.
@knoxra umm he just did prove it was possible. People have programs that map out the best paths you can use calculating the highest score possible. Using this (I use this term loosley here) exploit it's possible to get above said optimal score
@knoxra i see you posted this 2 years ago. but id still like to point out that this isnt optimal. there is only one optimal for each song. he got above upper bound... not above optimal.
he set the lag calibration so he had to hit all the notes super early, but that allowed him to get more whammy on the last phrase of overdrive in the song, so he could activate overdrive one more time and get more points
We've known about it for a long time. We couldn't really discount lag calibration, since some people need it to play normally, plus it's really hard to play with the visual so far out-of-sync with the audio anyway. As much as we don't like abusing lag calibration to bolster squeezing, it's allowed.
I play with my calibration on Audio 25 Video -25, and I always hit that whammy. I guess I am just lucky. But I have a question about the Give It All Sustains in the beginning of the song. How exactly do you get the whammy? Because I can only get it 1/10 times
Actually ukog did this ages ago with jprez, but we never thought of it until I thought of how in hell sk8 can get the 1 early whammy at the beginning of DRC. I tested this method on that and sure enough it worked.
Why do you say "I hope they fix this for the next game at least, or hopefully for RB2 and the Beatles game." in the video description? Did you do this on Rock Band, before Rock Band 2 came out?
It may only alter it slightly, like maybe you activate one note eariler or something, but it probably wouldn't change it completely except for songs like this one where there's now an extra activation at the end.

do you think this could make the psychobilly freakout last whammy in gh2 possible strike?
RealGM 2 years ago
@RealGM: Yes, it's possible to get enough SP for an activation from the last phrase alone. It has nothing to do with latency though.
Impact009 2 years ago
Damn nice fc, especially with that lag.
AdamBlivingston 2 years ago 2
Can you do this on Guitar Hero? that would be pretty cool. Oh wait, can't you do an easy expert glitch or something?
McCloudster0015 2 years ago
Well, yes, but EE is considered cheating and any scores obtained using it are illegal.

SalmonSnak3 or w/e stole my Detroit Rock City 1st with this glitch. Its the only 1st place I actually tried hard to get >_>

It's like the notes don't want to explode so they disappear before hitting the note bar.

It KIND OF looks like its on easy expert b/c of the notes kind of being hit before they hit the strike line, but its probly not tho GJ
Chordhero94 2 years ago
Considering Rock Band does not have an easy expert mode, it's definitely not.

the timing window is still the same if you were hitting the notes as they came across you would prob miss actually

Th3Kuzinator 2 years ago
wow youtube comments. a lot of them more dumb than I've ever seen.
This doesn't change the timing window. I still have to hit notes within 100 ms of the timing window.
This doesn't change how many hold points there are. Hitting the sustains just makes the tick count start and end later than the video lag.
This however does change how much whammy you get because you whammy earlier and it ends later than the video lag.
This doesn't change whammy rate however.
strikebowler585 2 years ago
nice, very smart
micro8s 2 years ago
so trippy
is this just something to make abuse of the timing window easier or does it actually change the value of sustains?

If he was playing without lag its impossible to whammy 2 bars of overdrive out of the sustained notes?

the lag is to help the held down notes
it basically makes them longer than they really are, giving you more points
UnosPizzaGuy 2 years ago
no, points don't change. The point counter just starts and ends later. Whammy for Overdrive, however, starts earlier and ends later.
strikebowler585 2 years ago
couldn't that like completely mess up the path though?
inoobnomoar 2 years ago
It may only alter it slightly, like maybe you activate one note eariler or something, but it probably wouldn't change it completely except for songs like this one where there's now an extra activation at the end.
