  • Shit was everyone ok?

  • darwing award anynoe?

  • It should have gone 'SPLASH' into the sea next to it then nobody would be hurt and the divers score a free site to dive into!

  • stupid arrogant painters/dockers union, with no thought to safety or allowing the 'bloody bosses' to have to right people in the right jobs. like they owned the place. so so stupid

  • Frickin Jokers

  • i way to bring it down wtf?

  • I want to hire these guys, Bloody professionally done or what. I mean come on, taking down a crane, and making a big hole at the SAME TIME.

Are you sure they are not women working....?

  • now I know why Worksafe exists... you absolute idiots. 'A' frame with load from above and you take out the horizontal member holding it all together. Some people shouldnt be allowed on site and should be thrown into grade 2 physics class... feel sorry for the families of any killed who have to watch this.

  • MATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • action at 3:40

  • I'd like to know what they thought was going to happen.

How can there be 10 or people on that job and not one of them thinks to say this might not be a good idea?

  • Total insanity. I can hardly believe what I just watched. I just cannot get my head around how anyone would even consider demolishing a structure that way.

  • Right then...how many dead?

  • The man who was cutting at 3:30 was crushed to death

  • @SimulationGuy121 the man that was cutting in the ewp was not crushed he got thrown out of the basket and survived

  • I am ashamed to say I'm Australian and once worked for BHP when I see such lunacy. Blind Freddy could see that was going to happen and yeah, the guy on the forklift with the gas bottles needs a good smaking. Idiots!!

  • This is why you use C4 a plastic explosive, capable of ///Remote Detenation/// ah...for them times when you don't want a heavy object busting you like a grape.

  • one way of shifting it

  • This beggers belief!!!!

  • Welcome to the clever country.

  • The guy cutting shat bricks continuously after that event which founded the largest manufacturer of bricks now known as Australbricks.

  • durp......

  • I guess in Australia.... OSHA is just a small town somewhere...

  • The video is about a near miss a year before a fatal accident doing the same job, the demolition of the Newcastle BHP steelworks

The man who died is .

    Mr Gregory Rees

2.26 Mr Gregory Rees was killed on 19 September 2002 when he was crushed during the

demolition of No 6 Ore Bridge at the former Newcastle BHP Steelworks site at Port Waratah.

Mr Rees was employed by Demtech Pty Ltd.19

2.27 On 29 July 2003, WorkCover sent a report on the death of Mr Rees to the Newcastle

    Coroner’s Court.

  • @isilder did any one in this clip die ?

  • Well thats what happens when you try and cut corners lol

  • Goto 3:45 .... where it all ends. Hope these bone heads lived and learned.

  • Accidental click

  • Good thing they had there Hard Hats on.

  • go to 3:40 if you dont want to waste your time

  • are they high? :)

  • Thanks Mr camera man for being a dumbass and not focusing on the action even though you were 500 yards away.. :(

  • These MOFOs were crazy!

  • haha i watched this when i did my white card

  • RIP mate

  • I cant believe these idiots! starting with the fool trying to stand up a rack of welding gas cylinders using a fork lift!

The other guy cuts out the horizontal of an "A" frame support!!! it was supporting many hundreds of tons I'm sure, he didn't even get it cut but partway through when it totally gave out.

Damn, I've seen some real idiots in the industrial trades but this one takes the cake.

  • @FurrtherMoor Hah hah "At our company, safety is Job #2"

  • Did he died? (Looked like he got away, but they're all dresssed alike, coulda been another guy)

  • It was at BHP

  • @place2oobe Mayfield West ?

  • It was at BHP

  • Was that at BHP Newcastle??

  • @thehotline69 Title says Australia

  • How fast did that guy jump out of the boom truck! lol priceless.

  • absolute fucking retard halfwits. every single man involved should be jailed for a month straight. she'll be right mate... fail.lets go drink a dozen beers and laugh while the union stops talent coming in the door.

  • How could you NOT think that was gonna happen

  • And thats why we wear hard hats on the job!

  • theres an old aussie saying,"she'll be right mate."this is a shocking display of that.all i can think off is cost cutting you will be amazed at some off the attitudes to safety when it comes to this.hard to compete in the market.corporations are monopolizing everything making it harder for privateers to flourish and in some cases people put lives at risk to keep there lively hoods or to keep the costs down.i work at centerport in wellington.one of the port cranes was dismantled recently.

  • ok she's down let go for lunch!

  • I love the way after it happens they are all calmly sauntering around like that was entirely what they intended... Nobody is looking for the poor sod who was on the cherry picker... Did he get crushed?!

  • all aussies retarded or just them?

  • @likilikiki Just them mate. I work at Onesteel and hell we would get bent over and a pole inserted sideways if we even contemplated to have the paperwork incorrect to even do a job like that. Bet they got fined bucketloads for that mess!

  • Results consistent with what happens when retards are handed hard hats and a safety vest.

  • This is possibly the most grotesque record of idiots disregarding safety ever recorded. From the forklift operator damaging welding gas cylinders to a cutting torch man who appears to have less sense than a seven year old boy, it is virtually beyond belief. Why didn't some of those people casually strolling around the crane speak up? There had to have been at least one person present who would have foreseen the disaster that was sure to come.

  • Hit and miss - so that's how they do it

  • didnt you know they dont have gravity down under ! I know some supers in florida that would use that method .plus hang out underneath and watch!

  • 3:44

  • i will bet they were indian labour... :D fucking animal

  • 'Uh oh'. Understatement of the century..

  • Perfect. Whats wrong with that? (Greg, Construction Company CEO, Australia.)

  • Planet of the Apes...or Apes at work..looool

  • A 7-year-old wouldn't have done that...

  • che idioti!

  • No worries Mate! Dumb asses

  • What the fuck were these guys thinking?!

  • team darwin FTW!!

  • when you cut conrers in the buget of these kind of things this is mostley whaat hapends

  • Well that sure worked..

  • FF to 3' 43"

  • did he die? for real....

  • could have lol

  • Ever heard of metal shearing explosives designed to shear support members without human intervention?

  • Worthless camera man wheres osha lol

  • the dude jumped out of the lift before he was crushed? I didn't see him laying anywhere, so I assume he was all right

  • what a dumbass...have they never heard of a controlled demolition?!?

  • The world without engineers !?

  • I thought at 1:27 the fork would knock a valve off and send a bottle into launch mode. Not a very smart work practice. - I thought that was dumb but then saw what happened at the end. - Why in the world would someone cut the bottom support on something that heavy. Death Wish?

  • this wrokers use to apear in megaman right?

    with a yellow helmet oo

  • 346 good stuff

  • was anybody hurt/killed

  • You could see they were merrily cutting away at the support beams while standing underneath. Cool, but probably not the best way to do that job....

  • i guess they had a "self and hasty" advisor...

  • it's sad for his family, but is this guy nominated for the Darwin Awards?

  • She'll be right mate!

  • They were messing with a beam that was under high tension forces, while there were tons of steel structures above their heads. What were they thinking??? Anybody died there???

  • I could do that job myself and it would be safe and not crash your not suppose to try and kill people when you take a crane appart you fuckers are retarded

  • bravo, idiots!

demolition of No 6 Ore Bridge at the former Newcastle BHP Steelworks site at Port Waratah.

Mr Rees was employed by Demtech Pty Ltd.

  • whatr a band of rank fuckin ametuers

  • skip to 3:40 to see

  • Doesn't workforce require a harness to cherry pickers these days? Lucky he wasn't harnessed

  • it would have been cheeper and easier if the bloke cuting had a bit of rope tide around his waist and the other end atatched to a fast truck, and just shouted when he wanted out ,but health and safty to day , spoils all the fun in a job like that

  • wow there D:

  • Cowboys, total amateurs.

  • Someone was killed in that mess for sure

  • that guy welding must have been crushed

  • @platolol *oxy cutting* and know he wasn't he's the dude that runs out of the smoke 5 seconds after,, union guy came to my tafe showing this video he reappears at 4:04

  • @harrazed Lol, you mean the guy that comes running out all pissed off sounding? I swear i saw him punch the guy (asking if he was ok) out and heard him yell something.

  • @steban629 Yea he survived, you can see him at 4:50 carrying his hard hat to the left of the orange forklift.. He has a white protective bib on to protect himself when oxy cutting and is carrying his hard hat...See hard hats save lives... :)

  • Well, they got it down

  • looks like a gang of suiciders ... If you handle oxygen bottles that way of course you demolish a crane the same way ... it´s like dancing in front of a hungry lion and be surprised if you miss an arm ...

  • is the crane ok??

  • In Europe we need whole army of well educated engineers, milions of Helth&Safety Inspectors and billions EUROs to get pice of metel down to the ground...

In Australia one guy with lighter is enought ;)

  • anybody died?

  • can't hold the f?cking camera you idiot.....????

  • they deserverd that i say.........

  • thats crazy!! what the hell were these guys thinking??!!! and that in the forklift truck?? you never just toss compressed gas cylinders around like that!!!!! that construction site was an accident waiting to happen!!

  • 3:43 omg must watch

  • that guy is dead

  • sarcastically, oh lets just cut the part that has oh i would guess somewhere in the range of 4 to 5 thousand tonnes of force on it

  • bunch of freaking nimrods

    sure hope nobody died...

  • Now if someone cuts one of your leg, do expect you will still stand up???…

    Never saw such stupidity…

Then look at the guy with gas cylinders … the guy is so unprofessional that he doesn't notice it already has a strap attached to it.

Unprofessional. Dangerous. Stupidity at its best …

  • The government report into this accident says no one was killed or seriously hurt.... From the report.

"The boilermaker, from his own report, was underneath the structure when it hit the

ground. The boilermaker was on the ground, after jumping/being thrown from the MEWP, directly underneath where this buckled section of the beam came to rest. He was inside the buckled section and reported that he felt it hit his back as he was on the ground when it hit. "

  • no school --> BIG PROBLEMS

  • The forklift incident was absolutely crazy, the moron obviously has never seen a gas bottle blow off...

The burner in the picker didn't look like he had a harness on.

Disaster waiting to happen, even an imbecile could tell you the reaction of the object when it's leg support is cut.......

Atleast in the UK we have the brains to use explosives first, there's a very good reason for doing so as well......

  • I was working with guys like them over in down under and one of my work mates broke his back twice just because "I know a quicker way to do it" most of them don't know what they do. so sad

  • Was this in Australia? What location?

  • @Stringyheads it was done in NSW

afterward OH&S was definately on their back

  • @plzexplode Unreal, Thanks for the reply

  • @Stringyheads Newcastle, at the old BHP site.

  • @WeAreL3gion BHP enough said. That explains everything

  • wat the hell were they plannin on building there anyway

  • i,m thinking that job went to the lowest bidder??

  • That was beautiful.

I guess they don't hire engineers in Australia for demolition projects.

I especially liked the cylinder valve beating forklift operator, he really set the tone for things to come.

  • @mglsp Nope, australia is kinda dumb like that.

  • @mglsp that wouldve been funny to see the cylinder rack go flying thru the air and nockin the crane down.lol

  • Insane

  • RECIPE FOR THIS INCIDENT.....using untrained men, thrown on a weeks course, callin them a 'topman' and neglecting responsibilities of training... on the job to learn with real cutters who have years of experience ( the only way to learn )...it takes years to earn the ' topman' title......, because, if the topman dont cut in the precise place and get it right first time .....how the fuck can the crane be expected to fall clean and neat ! this incident was the fault of the demo company

  • =O omg the stupid i feel sorrry for the 2 people

  • lowest bidder ...sheesh

  • you gotta be an idiot to start from the bottom with a fucking cutting torch on something that size

  • How did this wind up? There were a lot of workers right there when it fell, did everyone escape?

Did the oxygen tanks have anything to do with the demolition?

    Thanks!

  • well dumb asses it's down; typical australians

  • @PooPusher007 if ur american, at least we dont blow up our own landmarks

  • @DoopaSuper You know, you could have actually looked at his profile before taking an incredibly ignorant and bigoted swipe at Americans. You would have seen that he's from New Zealand. Why would you even ASSume he's American anyway? I haven't noticed any widespread hatred of Aussies by Americans, so why would you just assume?

  • I was waiting for someone to get killed. Who the fuck hired THESE guys?!

  • where this happened, in Poland?

  • @dendro1717 read the titlle mate, it says australia

  • lol that video captures stupidity in its purest form

  • The demolition people did as great work as the camera man!

  • i cant belive, what this stupid people think, when doing this

  • I saw this video a few years back in an OHS class, apparently nobody died, the guys who was cutting managed to jump out of the cherry picker just in time.

A lot of people got their arses kicked big time over this

  • @philboy85 the cutter was killed instantly, whos the source of your info mate, take a look yourself and slow the motion..........theres no time for jumping, fact is yes he was definately dead thats the fact

  • @TheLucyelliot You can see the cutter with the yellow helmet, noone was killed, he ran off and you can see him doing so alive and well at the end of the video

  • does the guy in the forklift have shit for brains?

  • Holly crap! I hope the guy in the bucket was ok.

  • thats why it is "hard hat" area.. they just need harder hats ^^ ..or some brain.

  • Wait, is he working directly beneath the--WHAT THE F@$K?! Who thought that was a good idea?

  • guy on forklift is an idiot, wheres his supervisor

  • I'm not so sure that someone getting hurt or even dying was unavoidable. In my experience, stupidity or carelessness (take your pick) will catch up with you sooner or later because it's a habit.

  • OMFG, how did they not see that it would collapse that way,ive got only 6 months experience in demolition but as soon as i saw him cutting the beam in this video i knew it would fall, the beam was stopping the legs spreading, how did they not see it was doing that job?

  • That is some of the most unprofessional piece of work I have ever seen! What a bunch of tossers!

  • @Andante1961 who said it was ment to be profesional

  • did anyone die as a result of this?

  • i would of called in sick... either blow the damn thing up or get a big crane and dismantle it.

  • @barnbarn2000 that gets my vote mate lol

  • should of called in sick...

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like oxy acetylene gas cutting to me

  • Derr... I think I will cut this down while standing under it!

What a hopless mickey mouse outfit they are. Unprofessional fuckwits!

Some dead shit needs to be crucified over that blunder.

  • did it kill the cutter? cant see his cheery picker platform after it fell, bosses to blame here, bet they werent anywhere near it

  • neither in Italy these things happend.......I hope

  • i thought the safest way to cut down a crane is from the top down.. duh
