  • Claudio sent 4 heretics to hell.

  • the end of it friggin killed my ears....

  • Lyric correction:

Also it's "Stale, killed in defense...Come with your colds tears after her."

and its "Before I learned, this was your intention...before I could've figured out, to love another."

  • So what's with ben10 being in the related videos?

  • Elf Power?

  • @synthxplayer Haha, Claudio's weird pronunciations are fun to catch :'D

  • favorite coheed song hands down

  • 4:25 to 4:50 - partytown.

  • omg, it's the first time I hear this song..

  • idk but i cant stand this song coheed is my favorite band, but this song wasn't released originally for a reason . even claudio said this song sucked . i love you claudio , tavis , mic , and josh, but this song fucking sucks ! im sorry .

  • @matthewsinist3r Listen to the acoustic verison they played on the Neverender Tour 2011, you will change your mind...

  • @matthewsinist3r You're very dumb, man. This song is absolutely incredible, and Claudio is just being Modest. Just the shift, and feeling he puts into this song is unbelievable.

  • @deepravine claudios not being modest when a song annoys him he lts the crowd no, when i went to sstb nevereneder he said he hated this song . and i just never liked this song, its ok instrumentally , but his voice in this song is horrible . and the lyrics are awesome , but this soung just doesnt mesh together .

  • @matthewsinist3r I don't think the song would work to the same effect, if his voice didn't crack at least somewhat during this song. Think about, it's the only song, actually about someone who was a part of his life, that's been written since he started Coheed and Cambria I.E. Nikki Owen (Which backwards is Newo Ikken a.k.a. Claudio Killgannon's love interest in the comics) . I just don't think the song would convey the same complex medley of emotions if his voice didn't crack at least somewhat.

  • @JustAddLogic its a matter of preference dude , i dont like this song i never did , and i think all songs have to do with people in his life . the good apollo 1 album solely about chondra in a fictional sense . God Send Conspirator is my song for SSTB blade , although this is a demo , i still consider it apart of the album . this is the only song i dont like . idont know, im a die hard coheed fan but theres always song the someone doesnt like . this song irks the shit out of me .

  • @matthewsinist3r I suppose, I understand what you're saying, and where you're coming from. I just know that are certain points of the song, he puts so much feeling into it. and just gives me chills.

  • @deepravine

yeah i think the song is awesome as well. But i understand that he doesnt like playing it considering its about nikki and stuff.

  • um feel like he fucked up on the riff somewhere...

  • Been listening to this on repeat for an hour and a half, so much emotion in this song, no one matches Claudio's lyrics and Coheed's performing.

  • Dear Nikki why??

  • I love these guys man...the energy, the creativity,,,,I honestly don't personally listen to anything but them...crazy

  • ive given you up go on find someone new <3

  • I listened to every song in SSTB, except this song. I never got around to actually listening to it. And now...I FREAKIN' LOVE THIS SONG. God, SSTB is such an amazing album.

  • I love that thing Claudio always does at the end of some of his words like at 1:00 when he says "yeah"

  • 4:08

  • Honestly, I love this song, but Claudio is borderline unintelligible during parts of it.

  • @JackLeft13

Ever think it could be intentional, and it also gives one hell of a life during the chorus?

  • @TedSmash I never said it was bad.

  • Wow I love this song, I really wish they didn't play it acoustic during the sstb tour it just wasn't the same for me

  • CORRECT LYRICS: plyrics.com/lyrics/coheedandcambria/elftowernewmexico (DOT) html

  • the correct lyric is: I cant believe your cold still here after

  • isnttt this shabutie??

  • can't wait to see this band live. too bad im british and missed their tour!

  • Free show last night was awesome, I'm really gonna miss hearing this song live :'(

  • @TesticularRainbows ;C u see them live D:?

  • @Th3MetalShockwave Yeah, they're amazing =D. I've only seen them 4 times though, I'm guessing you haven't seen them live before?

  • @TesticularRainbows

    not yet

  • @Th3MetalShockwave Aww man, you gotta see them!! And when you do, come find me at the show lol xD

  • @TesticularRainbows

    fuckyeah dude

  • @TesticularRainbows will they ever not play it again my good sir?

  • @JRGamingInc Haha, I think you wanna say my good maddam but I'd understand why you wouldn't think too lol. Well I mean Claudio said he was excited and sad to play it for the last time, I mean who knows. Perhaps they'll do another SSTB tour after 10 more yrs =D.

  • @TesticularRainbows im so sorry lol, hope i didn't offend you, and i missed a concert in Toronto like 6 months ago and im sad i may never get to see this song live....but hopefully like you said maybe down the road :)

  • @JRGamingInc Hehehe no you didn't offend me, I get it all the time, usually I just let ppl think I'm a dude lmao. And yeah I'd love to hear this whole album live again. Luckily for me though I saw them do SSTB twice.

  • @TesticularRainbows lol okay that's good....well lucky you ;) actually we get to see them this Tuesday at Bluesfest in Ottawa, but we're sad they probably wont play it D:

  • @JRGamingInc Lucky! Well who knows, keep your fingers and toes crossed >.<

  • @JRGamingInc =(

  • @TesticularRainbows lol it was an epic show....much love from us at jrgaming

  • @JRGamingInc Awesome, I'm so happy for you =)

  • Lyric correction: instead of I merely came here and... its "oh, Nikki, here..."

  • @XaleManix Thank you

  • @GigaLlama I just saw them Saturday, awesome ;D

  • AMAZING few days... BIN LADENS DEAD! and Coheed tomorrow :D

  • This song is AMAZING acoustic. Can't believe they finally played it live last night.

  • claudio himself said this is a poopy song

  • @Godxela18 Yeah, but that's because it's so emotionally straining for him to sing it, he hates it because it brings back some tough times for him. But I think we can all agree it's a brilliant goddamn song.

  • If you listen to a lot of the live acoustic performances of this song, I believe the line "I merely came here", is actually, "Oh Nikki here". Also change staile to still and "til' then pretend, I've touched me before you'll ask her", and "I can't believe you're still cold here after". Anyone want to confirm these for me? The lyrics to this song are still very hard to decipher.

  • @TPFInferno the lyrics in the live version are slightly altered from those of the studio version, to make it more contemporary to Claudio's life, I would imagine.

  • Why don't I remember this song?!?!?!?!?!?

  • @Yami2po It wasn't on the original album and the band refused to play it live for a while.

  • Saw this at Jannus Landing, FL last Friday acoustic. Isn't this tour the fist time the songs been played live?

  • went and saw them in houston last week....sick show...they did come out and do this song and claudio said he hates this song and that it sucks but he was gonna play it anyway.....i thought it was funny...then he stopped i forgot at what line of the song and shook his head and said why did i write that stupid verse hahah

  • Dude, me too.

  • Love how this is already on here but...Elf Tower Acoustic with Claud and Travis was incredible. Just saw them in Austin last night. It was basically the third encore in what was almost a three hour show. I still have a boner from it.

  • lyrics correction: midday subway into new jersey. not middays are grey.

  • @japhyryder1205 Thanks :)

  • this is actualy really sad ;(

  • Favorite. Song. Ever. No. Question.

  • Claudio played this acoustic when I saw Coheed last night. It was fucking gorgeous.

  • @lexisklok was it the VIP pre-show? or during the show?

  • @kevhobbit007

it was the last encore song

seriously, the greatest thing i've ever seen in my life even though claudio hates the song itself

theres a really good quality copy on youtube, just type elf tower live and it should be the first video

  • @kevhobbit007 Yeah, Claudio and Travis did it as a final encore. It was absolutely beautiful.

  • @lexisklok def saw that show...great stuff

  • God this music is so great. The conviction in Claudio's voice rings so true, so abundant in emotion! The guitar drive the song like Hunter S. Thompson on a hot summer day through Las Vegas. The melodies flow like a bird drifting along a spring breeze. Put simply, man I love this shit.

  • this song gives me nostalgia!

  • Go vote for coheed in the mtv music march madness competition. They need al the support they can get.

  • Amazing.

  • God I love this song! X3

  • Most underrated song ever...

  • Oh man I haven't listened to this song forever I just forgot about it even though I listened to the rest of Second Stage.

  • This is my all time favourite song.

  • im so psyched! im getting this on a vinyl of theirs!

  • @madchild0709 Nice, I want to get the Second Stage package too. Going to see them in Dallas, TX. Can't wait for it in a month.

  • Comment removed

  • @roopg567 Where else would an eargasm take place?

  • btw i think this song actually directly associates the story with his life. like nikki instead of ikkin, and the coheed and cambria allusion to the story but as if those names were simply in his head: "absence makes the heart grow fonder"

  • "See there's Coheed, and then Cambria in innocent merger."

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

  • This song makes everything right. Always.

  • im having a hard time thinking of how this reflects claudio's life. i mean how else do you enturpret that his parent killed there kids? and was he like really craving mayo at one point in life???

  • @RandomToDoList the story itself doesn't represent his life word for word, but there are certainly some themes that he explores in the concept that he obviously thought were prominent in his life at the time. not so much with the lyrics of sstb, but with the newer album's lyrics it is clear to see that the songs can either be be taken conceptually or in relation to claudio's life.

  • @RandomToDoList The Mayo you're wondering about is Tri-Mage Wilhelm Ryan's general, Mayo Deftinwolf. Although Claudio may not have been able to find the Miracle Whip in the fridge when he was writing the song.

  • @clemdog44 if you know this cd, you honestly must know about the story by now... just saying...

  • @KodoichiKumori I know the story, I was just interjecting a little humor into the comments instead of all the stupidly spread hate that flows freely.

  • @clemdog44 lol. yeah i kno

  • What's with the constant reference to Wednesdays? Sorry I haven't had the time to read the Amory Wars yet. Much appreciated ^__^

  • Fence Bearu of investigation

  • youtube needs to make an auto replay button. this song proves it !

  • What is this song about to the story?

  • @SamuraiExx So I think since its talking about New Mexico and Nikki rather than Newo...it must be real life right?

  • @ANightmare7x all of the songs are fictional takes on claudios "real life" experiences. and Nikki owen is essentially the same person as Newo Ikkin. (same name backwards)

  • where do you go to read the epic all their albums are about?

  • @furfeyl They have a novel for the prequel to the story called Year of the Black Rainbow, then they have graphic novels/comics for the Second Stage turbine blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 albums, and Claudio is working on comics for the two Good Apollo albums.

  • @XxVicistxX Good Apollo one is already done Its a Graphic novel.

  • @xXOneAmongTheFenceXx There was the one that came with the second good apollo album but claudio was not satisfied with it so he wants to redo it in the style of SSTB and IKSOSE:3.

  • @XxVicistxX Good Because I didn't like it that much either Don't get me wrong anything and everything coheed is great I just didn't get into it like i did SSTB and IKSOSE:3

  • @furfeyl If you don't feel like reading the comics, you can get the summaries from cobaltandcalcium . com

  • @LVL1Gamers Those could well be the best play on words ever!

  • elf = extra low frequancy. heh, wake up. not sure if it fits within this artists creation though i'll admit. always loved the song though, gotta admit.

  • kinda like the song wildfire..."She comes down from yellow mountain, on a dark flat land she rides, on a cold nebraska night."... There is no yellow mountain in Nebraska...but who cares wildfire is epic

  • One of the best Coheed songs. Shame they'll never play it live....

  • why don't they just put all of their songs on the album!?

they did the same thing with the Year of the Black Rainbow! made some of the songs exclusive to iTunes which is STUPID :(

  • why new mexico? he grew up in NY and i assume the "elf tower" refers to the eiffel tower in paris, a reference to his girlfriend. but he mentions new mexico in other songs;...

  • @7CurseOfAnubis7 you my friend have missed out on the point of Co/Ca (cola :P nahh just bein funny :P) his albums are based on his comics. go read them :D

  • i truly love this song, cant....stop...pressing....replay!!

  • Thank you, for this one last big mistake....

  • i miss old coheed and cambria

  • Beautiful

  • Wow. So unfortunate this wasn't played on the neverender tour. One of my favorites. Yes his voice DOES suck...if you only listen 3 times. Then guess what? You love it. And on top of that the drums and guitar are sick as hell....and by sick i mean....not like have hepatatis like nikki six....i mean are awesome.!

  • Anyone else notice this wasn't played at the neverender concerts? Or am I missing something.

  • @snookion899

Not included on the original album, it´s just a demo, which were included on the re-release of the album.

  • @snookion899 Claudio refuses to play Elf Tower live.

  • fu***** amazing song

  • this is NOT off second stage, it was later added to the re-release, but it's originally from the Equal Vision comp. "Inventing The Scene", the prize fighter inferno track 'missing mccloud boys' is on there too, but titled as 'i'm going to kill you'.

  • This comment is pointless

  • @stigno89 HAHAHA I love you.

  • @YouKilledAlan i hope you love me

  • @stigno89 HHAAAHAHAHAHAHA

  • for some reason I think Amory Wars is just a play on words ,maybe it is because it Amory Wars split up is Amor y Wars Love and Wars I may be wrong but whatevs

  • apparently claudio grew up on Amory Drive or something. he mentions it on the Neverender documentry

  • "Amory" was the street Claudio lived on as a kid, but that's a really interesting thought. I never thought to look at it like that... Kinda gives a new perspective of the entire Coheed saga.

  • @AdianX i think amory street is in paris where claudio started writing the novels

  • @knuckleheadPaul amory street is where claudio grew up.

The bag on line was a place in paris that he lived near when he was with his girlfriend.

    Probably got mixed buddy. :p

  • @MikeTheGuy00 The.Bag.Online. was the name of a handbag store that he could see outside of his hotel room while visiting his girlfriend in Paris.

Amory Drive in Rockland, NY is where Claudio grew up.

  • @YouKilledAlan Yes, more in detail. Thanks. Much love. And why does claudio refuse to play elf tower live? It's a good song.

  • @MikeTheGuy00 Hm, I don't think anyone really knows why for 100% sure. But based off of most songs he's written, it probably has ties to some event in his real life. "I'm giving you up, go on, find someone new." Can really only mean romance.

So if I had to guess, it brings back some form of old bad brake-up memories to him. Maybe? Anyone else have an opinion?

  • @YouKilledAlan "I'm giving you up, go on, find someone new." Is most likely what he's thinking when the character Claudio is leaving Newo in the story, since he never actually says goodbye to her.

  • @rockinrj13 SHUTTUP!! AHHH I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TALK ABOUT PARTS I HAVENT READ!! WHY DOES HE LEAVE HER??? NEVERMIND DONT TELL ME!!!!

  • @MikeTheGuy00 From what I hear, its just too hard to sing live. that is what I hear from most sources.

  • @knuckleheadPaul you're thinking of rue chapon in paris, amory drive is the street he grew up on.

  • ok just a thought if it is about claudio and newo breaking up it makes sense cause in feathers he says this Do you really want him coming Newo?

Do you really think he's coming back to you?

and idk it just makes sense but thats just me!

  • @tyrantcandc Me and my friend Dillon have this theory that Wilhelm Ryan or someone is talking to Newo at this time. We think this whole song is about her and the fact that (remember, this is just a theory) she is secretly a Prise who's job it was to keep tabs on Claudio which makes sense from the line "Hide your feathers" because they cannot let Claudio see them... We'll know when the Amory wars has the comics release.

  • Long live OLD coheed....!!!!!!!!!!!

  • same here its the best!!!

  • what album is it on, if it is in fact on a coheed album, i own them all, and live at starland ballroom dvd, etc, i've never heard it on them, is it hidden in "second stage?"

  • its in the reissued version of second stage turbine blade along with the acoustic version of junesong provision and a demo of everything evil

  • it's not on any....it was put on teh end of second stage when it was re - released...it wasn't originally on the cd

  • i remember i got the original cd for christmas like 3 years ago. right after IKSSE3 came out, and neverender skipped. I was so mad.

  • ah, i would've flipped a shit.

  • 20,000th view! :D

I'm a little mad coheed doesnt perform this anymore! D: its so beast! :O

  • has coheed ever performed this song live?

  • Good question o.o,probably, but probably as shabutie....i meant they dont play it period, like they dont even consider it a song of theirs anymore xD

doing it live would be nice though,id love to hear it

  • i dont think so

  • @PPulling4990

They have never played it as Coheed and Cambria, or Shabutie for that matter. The band has said that they hate the song and the only time they played it was for the recording. But I personally love the song and wish they would play it!

  • how can they hate this song lol its so good

its one of my faves and after theyre done with the last album in the story i hope they put out more like elf tower

  • I was at Neverender Night I in NYC and there were a group of ppl with 8-bit Link pictures and 8-bit mario towers chanting for this song during the encore. Claudio attempted to play it; but he actually said to the audience "I don't remember how to play this song" Then they continued with the filmed encore.

  • @hiphophawk12

I heard that its not thaey hated the song, but it was far to difficult to play live.

  • @ShougoKiba That makes sense as well, cause claudio has a ton of layering of his vocals on that song so I dont think playing it live will do it justice. But I just heard the band hated it and a never wanted to play it, but you maybe correct sir!

  • im pretty sure thats a Anax junius on the cover or some representitive of that genius :) coheed rules!

  • the part at :30 sounds a lot like "Hearshot Kid Disaster"

  • Thank God they recovered your body in New Mexico.

  • I live in New Mexico and I can't seem to find this Elf Tower. :) My nephew turned me on to C&C and they are pretty damned good, this coming from an old fogie. I saw them open for a Heaven & Hell concert and I thought they sounded great. Claudio has got some great stage presence along with that voice and awesome hair. One of the very few new bands that I was willing to take a listen to, and then liked, alot. Peace.

  • dude i live in the NM and i cant find elf tower either. Maybe it's a riddle. im thinking its the original El Torreon in Licoln County because it is much smaller that it's monument in Albuquerque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

  • @throfte290 it's from their comic I think....they also mention new mexico in the hearshot kid disaster.

  • @lowriderbandfan Are you talking about the concert at Red Rocks?

  • @StopRunningKid, The concert was in Albuquerque, NM at the Journal Pavillion a couple of years ago. Coheed & Cambria really impressed me and I was glad to see the LEGENDARY, Ronnie James Dio one more time before he passed, may he RIP.

  • Yes this is Shabutie but it's still all the member's from Coheed and Cambria, They decided to put Shabutie tracks on the second release of Second Stage Turbine Blade...

  • ay dick weed why would it be in a c&c cd u ass and any i know ur like its a picture you dont know if they just put it but i have the fukin cd bitch so suck dick ass and no world for tomorrow was awsome u dick crunch

  • lol dick crunch.

  • No shit, but this recording was performed by Coheed and Cambria as a band. Yes it was written by Claudio when he was in Shabutie, but so was over half of their discography.

  • No, you my good sir are wrong, only a few songs off of SSTB were written as Shabutie.

  • Actually good sir, even though they didnt record it, if you've seen the Coheed documentary, "The Fiction Will See The Real," you'll note that Claudio already had plenty of their disography written. Maybe not the full versions, but he had a pretty good idea about everything from the start.

  • ya but all the members of coheed are in it...not to mention that its on the second stage turbine soundtrack. So a true coheed fan would still recognize claudio's talent and love this song...it may be a shabutie song but in every way that matters it screams coheed.

  • Actually... The recording you're listening to right now was made shortly after they became Coheed and Cambria. Yes, it was WRITTEN as Shabutie, but, it is on a Coheed and Cambria album...... so it's Coheed.

    Sooooo....

You owe everyone here an apology :D

  • haha tool

  • which album is welcome home on?

  • welcome home is on good apollo, im burning star IV volume one: fear through the eyes of madness

    or something like that

  • close, Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV Volume one : From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness.
