I don't think that they should have had Alisa Rose and Dickens kissing like that because of the age difference. Alisa Rose was 9 years old, and Dickens was probably 25 years old. I think that that was kind of innappropriate.
@rockypallo Gilliam was trying to convey a portrait of innocence: the kiss is not wrong because both are innocent (for different reasons), theirs is an innocent game between a child and a severely mentally handicapped man. Do you see? It's not innapropriate because in their world, there is no evil, there is no intention to harm, there is no perversion. It is a world of innocence; it seems depraved to outsiders who have lost their innocence. That is what Gilliam was trying to show.
