  • Hmmm, Nemesis was filmed 1986, but A Caribbean Mystery, which takes place before this story, was filmed 1989.

  • @PollyJuice So???

  • The maid is haaaaaawtt;)-3

  • I'm having trouble understanding the old guy

  • I Totally Love The Book <3

And Now Lets See if I'll Like The Movie As much

  • Date is almost 56 years in a week. I believe it say August 18, 1955 on the newspaper. / I'm watching this for the 2nd time and so much makes more sense now. I'm wondering if that letter he signed was to her. He felt his life was done intrusting this to her. What a responsibility for Miss Marple. :) Songs

  • Anyone. I can't remember the story before this when Miss Maple meets Mr. Rafiel. Can you remember? There must be a video on that. I hope it is with this MM or Joan Hickson. I always thought he showed he really was a decent man in the end when he helped Miss Marple. It's been years since I read these books. :) Songs

  • I'm almost afraid to watch this. It was my favorite of the MM's. It would take a certain fit of actors to pull it off. We'll see. I like the old man because of his straight forwardness and he saw a kindred spirit in MM. His only friend. One of the saddest parts of this is that Mr. Raf didn't get to see MM end it. Massively rich in money but peace of soul was another thing. He trusted her and did the best he could to set her upon the true badguys.

  • Joan Hickson IS Miss Marple. There is no other.

  • @RatedArggg

absolutely, love these stories, good old England, there is nothing better..

  • This was always my favourite one when I was growing up, I guess it still is. Thank you!

  • @Shalliw I'm with you Shalliw. Sorry he died alone but then other than MM who would he have wanted to be with him? Being dramatic, I'd rather die alone than to have no one who loves me being around. You?

  • @Songsmirth I'd agree with that. When I first saw this I found it rather upsetting that he was alone( I was also very young at the time), but now I feel that I would rather pass on alone, then be surrounded by people who didn't really care. All of the MM stories have that very dark realistic edge to it, which I love. She might come across as a silly little old lady but underneath all the knitting she is sharp and perceptive and has no misapprehensions about the cruelty of human nature.

  • @Shalliw Excellent way of putting her style. She says that to murderers themselves as well as she did in this one. And it's why Mr. Rafiel chose her. One way or another she's see justice done and she did. :)

  • I'm not sure what company produces shows for the "Mystery" series on PBS, but they seem to have picked the very best actors to portray the characters.

Joan Hickson for Miss. Marple, David Suchet for Hercule Poirot, and of course Jeremy Brett for Sherlock Holmes. Not to mention Derek Jacobi as Brother Cadfael! Such incredible casts & wonderful adaptations.

I've seen other portrayals of these stories, I hear constantly about Basil Rathbone from my Dad, I really think that these are the best.

  • @Jayjen35 Wow, a company that picked those four must indeed have a special knack for casting decisions.

Rathbone was a very good Holmes, but the movies he appeared in were often not based on the books at all, and I didn't much care for their tendency to portray Watson as a complete moron. Still, they're worth watching.

  • I wish Joan has done more Miss Marple movies. She can always warmth my heart and take my imagination back to the olden days...Cozy tea house, English village....

  • Not the best one, I'm afraid. Still, miles better than the later adaptation.

  • I leant my DVD set to someone and never got it back, so thank you so much for uploading. I need my fix of Joan Hickson!!

  • i've just seen the mcewan one. now i am looking forwards to hickson. i really love mcewan's marple. i am trying hard with the 'new girl' but.......oh! i will get to like her as well.

  • @johneunson - I like McEwan too, but for me, Marple HAS to be the grey haired one ... yes, Joan Hickson :) Love her!! Hope you enjoyed this episode.

Degnoser - thanks ... AGAIN for another Hickson marvel ! :)

  • @johneunson I really like McKenzie and McEwan playing miss Marple, but unfortunatly the adaptions they're in are terrible. These adaptions, with Hickson, are much better.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH DEGNOSER ! You're a true friend! There's no better Miss Marple as Joan Hickson.
