I remember going to Gingerbread Castle when I was little and the witch scared the crap out of me!! I was scared that whole day!! Lol I see why now!!!!
FYI,Storybookland was on Rt.66 in Neptune where the Shop Rite is now, which was originally Sears.I know someone that has some of the little buildings from it.
Amazing! I haven't seen the Gingerbread Castle in 56 years. The building is still there? Tell me. Does the boardwalk at Point Pleasent still exist? How about that fine 19th century dance hall on the pier over the surf at Jenkin's Beach? Anybody?
i live right outside asbury park, so thats where i go to the beach. let me just say, asbury park has taken a 180. its cleaner, friendlier and has some kid oriented areas. theres no amusement park yet, but we have cute little shops and eateries. plus a mini water park for young children.
people wouldnt think this stuff is wierd they would think its normal i mean if u lived in new jersey, i live in new jerssey for bout 13 yrs and ive done all wierd things to do
i didn't know Fairy Tale Forest was on "eird U.S."(originally Weird N.J.). I used to have the "Weird N.J." book myself. this (without knowing it, considering i went 11-12 years ago) and Devil's Tower in Alpine, NJ were the only two attractions i went to or did from that book...
I live by fairy tale forest and one time i went there with my friend while doing mushrooms and i freaked out thinking he was a troll and i killed him then i put his body in rapunzalles tower
I recognize some of the "set pieces" in Fairy Tale Forest as the same exact design used in the local kiddie park I went to near pittsburgh. Story book Forest is still around. There's a 40 minute video tour of it on youtube someone posted. There weren't many visitors on the day of the video tour, but the kids that were there still had the same excitement that I had when I was a child.
I live like 5 minutes away from fairy tail Forest I used 2 go there alot when I was younger I was so pissed off when I heard it closed down...oh well loved the vid.
Fairytale Forest, Gingerbread Castle .I live in that areabeen there now Gingerbread Castle the last owner took a lot of things to try to sell on e-bay even tried to sell it on his own it was sold for back tax .what a shame it should be redone and opened. The new owner is very stricked you can't even fish in the river by it if you get caught on the property you will be fined!!Don't know much about what he will do with it.
Good news! I've heard that Gingerbread Castle is being redone! The owner is looking for anyone that has any of the original statues and decorations to put back up! I remember that only a few years ago they had Halloween scare tours there!
I don't remember any articles about Fairytale Forest on the Weird NJ website... Am I just lost or was that only in the magazine or something? I'm totally curious now >.>

Bruce Springsteen DID NOT get his start at the Stone Pony - It opened a year after his first album was released! Time and time again people get this historical fact wrong!

funny enough, asbury is coming back. it'll take a long time, but right now there's actually some life in the old place
InsaneMusic808 1 year ago
Asbury Park had some medical waste issues in the early 80's and that ended its fate. It was, at one time, the most popular boardwalk in NJ

Born2dance123 2 years ago
I'm afraid its historical significance may not be enough to bring back Asbury Park;look what happened at Coney Island this past year.
There's a reason why Walt Disney chose to defy convention and not build his park next to water.

I live by Asbury Park. It's packed all year. The beaches, concerts, etc. The amusements have been closed for years though.
I also used to go to Fairy Tale Forest when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun!
