Per me Maria Callas è sempre stata un "mostro" del canto lirico; ma la sua voce, mi ha sempre impressionato ma mai commosso. L'ho sermpre considerata, con tristezza, un'anima malata, che non riuscendo a vivere in pace con se stessa, non riusciva a donare agli altri serenitè e dolcezza ma solo risentimento verso quella pace interiore che ella non possedeva.

She is divine...sorry but no comparison with tebaldi...I'm italian and there's non nationalist influence...Callas is always different...She's another class singer...unique top class....

I love it, still prefer Tebaldi in this, she has a more beautiful voice, still a very good

interpreation from the great Callas.

@jacquesurlus I did listen to Cerquetti, i like it, but if you listen to Tebaldi in Naples it is better.

But Cequetti give a very very good interpretation.  It depends on which voice you like.

She retired early.

I also like Tebaldi, his best Leonore in my opinion is at Florence in 58 I think, conduct by Mitropoulos, with Protti and del Monaco

You're right, I confused with the DVD version of Napoli, with Corelli and Bastianini. This evening is fantastic but mainly because of Corelli and Bastianini.

@jacquesurlus Also Tebaldi is great - All italians except for Boris Christoff, which is rare today,

Corelli and Tebaldi were the best opera couple (both tall and good looking).

Today you don't see a cast like that. I was lucky i saw both of them in Tosca at the Met with

Tito Gobbi, i was very young and also saw Tebaldi in La Gioconda with Carlo Bergonzi,

@jacquesurlus The Forza from Naples is still consider the best Forza and we are lucky to have on DVD.

I also have one with Leontyne Price past her prime it is not very good. Corelli and Tebaldi had huge voices.

Impossible nowadays (and this is not nostalgia) to find a distribution that can compare to that of Napoli.. Leontyne Price's version is I think the early 80s, (84) a bit late ... A great artist anyway, I love him very much,

Giacomini in this version is very good and there is also a good Melitone, the rest is average.

@jacquesurlus Tebaldi is the greatest Leonora - she proved it with her studio and many live recordings.

She has a refined voice comparare to Leontyne Price also more powerful and with a clear sound.
