See, we are descended from amphibians and reptiles which could change their gender according to environmental stimuli... back before the separation of XX/XY and ZZ/ZW sex determining chromosomes (which some species still share).

See, you don't actually NEED the Y chromosome to determine gender. Gender is determined by the FOXL2 and SOX9 gene on the X chromosome - which all men and women share - and they have a relationships where if one is on, the other turns off.

Nature hasn't removed this feature, but it's been more or less regulated by the SRY transcription factor on the Y chromosome which only males have. Nature's little mechanism here is somewhat broken, and it's thought that errors in the SRY transcription during development may explain conditions such as GID.

So the ability to transdifferentiate adult ovaries into testies is still a natural, functioning, part of who we are. Who are you to say we shouldn't take advantage of a natural function?
