I loved their relationship, and I think this was perfect ending for them, it really respected all the wonderful things they had experienced together. I cry every time I see this.
Even if you don't like Chris, I don't understand how you can be happy because of this scene - it is one of the most heart-breaking scenes on tv, thanks to the amazing acting of Lauren and David. Feeling joyful when watching this is like... all wrong. So disrespectful for the actors, the characters and the whole show.
@Kukkamultatytto On the contrary, feeling joy shows that you have a deeper connection with the show. Anyone could watch this and feel heartbreak, because of how amazing Lauren is in this. And I do feel heartbreak, but when I watched it I felt happy because I didn't think that L/C belonged together, but that L/L should have been. I'd been with the show for years and wanted L/L to happen more than anything. This scene made me happy because I knew Lorelai could go on and be happy with Luke.
@likesunset03 I prefer Luke and Lorelai as well, but most of all I relate to Lorelai herself. I live this show with her every time I watch it and fell her feelings like they were mine - she doesn't know at this point that she has a future with Luke, and her marriage with the man who means a lot to him (even though she doesn't want him romantically) and has been there for most of her life, is ending. There is nothing glorious or happy about it.
"i want to want you" is bullshit in my opinion and completely unfair to luke. So he the guy she doesn't want to want but does anyway? How is that romantic? bitch
@Angelazreal1 i think she just means that he's rory's dad and her husband so it would be best for everyone for her to want him but she doesn't because she is in love with luke
@Angelazreal1 I just think that she doesn't 'want to want Luke' because it just hurts too much. She probably really believes that having a relationship with him again is impossible because, 1) she thinks that he would never forgive her for sleeping with Christopher (and then marrying him, UGH!) and 2) she was badly burned by Luke's neglect and awful handling of the April situation. It's just self-preservation, IMO.
I bawled so hard at this, not because I wanted Lorelai and Chris to be together but because it is such an impacting scene! O geeze, I get so emotionally attached to even shows on TV. I loved Gilmore Girls
Watching this scene is like a reminder of how outrageous it is that Lauren Graham never won an Emmy. How many actresses can do this AND rapid-fire dialogue? She is seriously amazing.
