I rented this for zbox 360 a while ago and loved it...however i was on standard definition tv... now enemies are hard enough to acquire without a shitty picture much less with a 32 inch box. I have black opps. Hate it. Realistic? Not at all. I ordered this game yesterday because i now have a 42 inch hd tv, and want a simulator, not a run and gun take 40 bullets to the head and don't die game.
I think its a very good game but can be very frustrating at times. e.g i ordered my team to assault a certain point, but then i get shot and start squirming around on the floor.I call for a medic but no one comes because there to busy assaulting the enemy. And surprise surprise i died and had to back checkpoint which i reached about 10 minutes ago!!!

You are absolutely right that this game is hard as hell. The friendly AI is incredibly frustrating at times and the enemies are damn well organised and hidden. But I still think it's one of the best games I've ever played. It's such a challenge! And I love challenges! It means great satisfaction upon success as well as the guarantee of many gaming hours. I don't mind the lack of cut-scenes, they're not there irl either. Overall, great but very challenging game.

The game is not hard, it is actually very easy! The lack of online games is due to cheaters and the companies lack of updates to counter the cheaters(It also never should have been released on consoles). It is why I quit and now play Arma 2 exclusively. Try and play Armed Assault 2 a bit, that is a true sim.

i dont get people saying they dont like this game because its not like COD. it doesnt try at all to be like COD. it completely succeeded in what the developers were trying to make, a tactical, realistic first person shooter. sure its not everyone piece of cake but i really enjoy the slower-paced more realistic action.

I am 1 of those diehard gamers and beeting the games at the highest difficulty level, even though frustrating in the process, is highly rewarding. This game turns you into a cod player killing machine if u can beat it. The coop campaign modes r xtremely fun as you and a group of 3 other friends become a elite squad through teamwork, not like cod where more ppl r lone wolves.
Multiplayer: Extremly fun but hard to get in a match due to noone playing it
Gameplay: Hard but fun. its realistic thats why you are going to die. the game isnt a run and gun spray and pray quick scope game its a tactical game takes takes skill
Single Player: Fun but the large amounts of walking will get annoying and when your bleeding out 1/10 times teamates will revive you. the lack of cutscenes didnt bother me and i thought the game is better without them.
I dont understand the hype about Dragon rising....Realism games were out way before this one, but he seems to be amazed at one shot kill scenarios....play the first game?

just finished the single player campaign.. it's a good game but it couldve been great. the command system is a bit klunky and the AI could be more helpful. 7/10 from me.
i just played a single player mission from this game.....my god how amazing it is! its really hard and very straining but when i finished the mission its so relieving and rewarding! Heres the statistics from the mission i played:

Iam 12 years old and i play this game. I dont know why older people think this game is really hard and they give up and say ofp2 suck. but I think this game is really good and epic and i love it. @vuckotadic Ummm it doesn't lagg with a HD 5870 and i7 i have a 2 Xeons and a GTX 465 and the game runs great on max settings with 100 AI and 5k veiw distance and its better because its more realistic, better sand box enviroment, better community, better Multiplayer Abilities, mods such as ACE 2 And look up ArmA 2 Ai vs OFPDR Ai and if you are calling ArmA 2 ai stupid your stupid plus theres mods to make the AI smarter they will throw smoke get behind cover supress you throw grenades and ambush

This game is way better on PC. I must say though, if you have a very strong, and I mean top of the line everything as far as hardware is concerned, Arma2 and the Desert Ops Arma2 standalone expansion dominate this game as far as graphics and realism are concerned. And by "very strong" hardware, I mean the latest and greatest processor, ram, and probably crossfire high 5000 or 6000 ATI or SLI GTX 400 Series., that is if you want to max the settings. Arma 2 makes Crysis look like atari pong.
I just beat this game about 10 minutes ago, it is a very good game! I think it was probobly the most difficult yet best game on the market.
I acctuly did end up having acouple anger outbursts and taking my bb gun to a dictionary! (WHICH FELT AMAZINGY RELIVING!) But, I'm glad I did play it because now after such a hard game mw2 and halo are as easy as eating cake!

A. I have NO Fing IDEA why codemaster thought a game like this would work on the consoles, Try it on the PC and you will be amazed how much more fun it is.

@kevinmichaeltinney You also don't shoot a gun with a thumbstick on a controller in real life. Auto-assist is necessary in "console games" because of the inaccuracies of the controller. Typically you see auto-assist in console games only, as a mouse is significantly more precise and as such, does not require it.
I'm sorry.. But this game was a huge let down. If you have a great pc get Arma 2. THATS the game you're looking for, I was incredibly dissapointed by this after playing the original on xbox which had a whole breath of content. Map editor, Campaign Editor. Choosing Loadouts. This game got streamlined for the casual audience. It obviously chose pretty graphics over good gameplay. The mp community is doing very well either. Just my View. A diasspointed one at that. Arma 2 Is all I can say.
I don't really think that the game targets the average gaming audience, and unless you are a hardcore shooter, and have a tactical mindset and approach to this game - you will find it very difficult, and alot less fun. It's a simulation military shooter - and combat is far from easy in the real world.

I own the game in loved it compared to the overly used run and gun scheme; like in modern warfare 2. I agree its is difficult but that's only due to the level of realism and actually tactical game-play you have to use in order to make the game fun. In my own opinion those who were turned off by this game are too fully integrated into the run and gun concept, thus when their force to use tactics and take their time in this game they get frustrated and rate the game as bad.
Bohemia Interactive and Codemasters need to work out whatever it is they need to work out so that they can get together again, kick this bugged out (retarded A.I. squadmates) game aside and put together the first person shooter that will absolutely annhialate all others. They had a chance to here, and they flubbed it up. Hopefully they see the error of their ways. Could've been a great game, unbelievable effort into the graphics and special effects, even some decent missions.
Question: Have you ever Tried Operation Flashpoint the original? I have read other reviews that this game sucked mainly due to the developers splitting. Some went with Arma 2 and the others went with Dragon Rising. Man because I play CS 1.6 and Battlefield Bad Company 2...but Operation Flashpoint 1 was the most realistic game I've ever played. Hands down. I remember the cutscenes and story behind and it motivated me alot to play that hard ass game.
The only thing I liked about this game was the music, play only if you are REALLY good at Ghost Recon series. Thats my advice anyway. Nice review. Everything was spot on.

This is an amazing game, yes it's not perfect and there are a few glitches but it is definatley worth buying, hours of gameplay and is fun on co-op but also very frustrating espeacily if your friends are only good for dying

This game got better with downloadable content and when I found out of to use the vehicles in the game that appear to be unusable and controlled by AI. This game was funner and easier playing a mission with a thermal sighted tank that shot explosive rounds and was dirvable in water than walking everywhere.
i wish i had a computer good enough to play ArmA 2, i hear it's a hella good war sim, but im try to get flashpoint, only real war simulation game out on console that i know of.
I admit the game was frustrating, and the A.I. did break the sense of realism at times, but I still enjoyed it because it plays differently enough from other shooters that made it a nice break.

Im thinking of buying this game only becuase i like the realism in this game. For example that u just can´t go on a open field and not except to be shot and that you have to think about a strategi to move to the next objective. I actaully watched the Band of brothers serie and that wanted me to buy a litte more realistic game and not like Modern warfare 2 for example.

@nothke My first impression of Arma 2 was that the developers abandoned all logic when they set up the controls. You have to use a key to climb a ladder? Come on! They literally make use of almost every single key on the keyboard. The character movement is poor and can be likened to a ragdoll. Arma 2 could have gone far with they would have taken some cues from the Battlefield series, while still retaining the vastness of Arma.
I love this game,i have MAG,Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 yet this game is very realistic and fun, you cant compare it to other shooters because it is in a different tactical genre,not run and gun

This game is way better on PC. I must say though, if you have a very strong, and I mean top of the line everything as far as hardware is concerned, Arma2 and the Desert Ops Arma2 standalone expansion dominate this game as far as graphics and realism are concerned. And by "very strong" hardware, I mean the latest and greatest processor, ram, and probably crossfire high 5000 or 6000 ATI or SLI GTX 400 Series., that is if you want to max the settings. Arma 2 makes Crysis look like atari pong.

I just beat this game about 10 minutes ago, it is a very good game! I think it was probobly the most difficult yet best game on the market.
I acctuly did end up having acouple anger outbursts and taking my bb gun to a dictionary! (WHICH FELT AMAZINGY RELIVING!) But, I'm glad I did play it because now after such a hard game mw2 and halo are as easy as eating cake!

OK as someone who usually loves your reviews I have to say this one I completely disagree.
A. I have NO Fing IDEA why codemaster thought a game like this would work on the consoles, Try it on the PC and you will be amazed how much more fun it is.
B. Because of every1 run and gun CoD fetish all forget the basics of actual combat which this game will punish you for not obiding them.

I love this game. Is there auto assist in real life? There are spotters.... It is not COD! Thanks god, finally a real shooter. They should make all shooters like this, a fucking challenge.

@kevinmichaeltinney You also don't shoot a gun with a thumbstick on a controller in real life. Auto-assist is necessary in "console games" because of the inaccuracies of the controller. Typically you see auto-assist in console games only, as a mouse is significantly more precise and as such, does not require it.

I'm sorry.. But this game was a huge let down. If you have a great pc get Arma 2. THATS the game you're looking for, I was incredibly dissapointed by this after playing the original on xbox which had a whole breath of content. Map editor, Campaign Editor. Choosing Loadouts. This game got streamlined for the casual audience. It obviously chose pretty graphics over good gameplay. The mp community is doing very well either. Just my View. A diasspointed one at that. Arma 2 Is all I can say.

I don't really think that the game targets the average gaming audience, and unless you are a hardcore shooter, and have a tactical mindset and approach to this game - you will find it very difficult, and alot less fun. It's a simulation military shooter - and combat is far from easy in the real world.

I own the game in loved it compared to the overly used run and gun scheme; like in modern warfare 2. I agree its is difficult but that's only due to the level of realism and actually tactical game-play you have to use in order to make the game fun. In my own opinion those who were turned off by this game are too fully integrated into the run and gun concept, thus when their force to use tactics and take their time in this game they get frustrated and rate the game as bad.

Bohemia Interactive and Codemasters need to work out whatever it is they need to work out so that they can get together again, kick this bugged out (retarded A.I. squadmates) game aside and put together the first person shooter that will absolutely annhialate all others. They had a chance to here, and they flubbed it up. Hopefully they see the error of their ways. Could've been a great game, unbelievable effort into the graphics and special effects, even some decent missions.

Question: Have you ever Tried Operation Flashpoint the original? I have read other reviews that this game sucked mainly due to the developers splitting. Some went with Arma 2 and the others went with Dragon Rising. Man because I play CS 1.6 and Battlefield Bad Company 2...but Operation Flashpoint 1 was the most realistic game I've ever played. Hands down. I remember the cutscenes and story behind and it motivated me alot to play that hard ass game.

The only thing I liked about this game was the music, play only if you are REALLY good at Ghost Recon series. Thats my advice anyway. Nice review. Everything was spot on.

This game got better with downloadable content and when I found out of to use the vehicles in the game that appear to be unusable and controlled by AI. This game was funner and easier playing a mission with a thermal sighted tank that shot explosive rounds and was dirvable in water than walking everywhere.

Im thinking of buying this game only becuase i like the realism in this game. For example that u just can´t go on a open field and not except to be shot and that you have to think about a strategi to move to the next objective. I actaully watched the Band of brothers serie and that wanted me to buy a litte more realistic game and not like Modern warfare 2 for example.
So i was wondering, is this game so realistic that u actually get frustated or will i have a great time with it?

@Poccoloco93 -i own this game the first 3 or 4 mission are well hard but the easiest of the rest once you reach mission 4+ then you die atleast 5+ times.
evan the easiest difficulty is pretty hard but over all its a great realistic game,

@nothke My first impression of Arma 2 was that the developers abandoned all logic when they set up the controls. You have to use a key to climb a ladder? Come on! They literally make use of almost every single key on the keyboard. The character movement is poor and can be likened to a ragdoll. Arma 2 could have gone far with they would have taken some cues from the Battlefield series, while still retaining the vastness of Arma.
