Those small sampling keyboards are interesting and fun... I had all Yamahas (VSS-30, VSS-100 and VSS-200) and some Casios (SK-1, SK-10, SK-2100 and SK-200), but my favourite is the Yamaha VSS-30 which is amazing. It's very flexible, small, sounds great and it does not switch itself off after 7 minutes.
Like I've always said, it isn't the gear that makes the musician, it is the MUSICIAN that makes the gear!
Any great musician can make even a dog turd sound good...not sayin the Casio issa dog turd, tho it takes a great musician to make 'em sound great ;)
(I've got like 6 assorted Casio keyboards, and I can make more productive music on the cheapest crap of guitars, I'm not a keyboardist...would sure like to learn, tho!)
HAHA! Agreed about said dog turd! I would like to add, its not how expensive an instrument is either. Its the passion and the expression which should shine right through the artist!
Thanks for understanding...I have a friend (Jared) that used to work in a pawn shop and make those old junkers sound great, see him in my Blues From The 5 vid on my channel.
I'd still like to learn keyboard, just don't have the time these days.
Thanks again, zach, for uploading this vid, and thanks nivsha for your reply!
AMEN TO THAT...being a pianist myself I have watched other piano and keyboard players...some had passion...some did not... The one that lacked played very well but sat there like an animatronic...No feeling...One of my late friend, Anthony Burger, was one of the greatest pianists of all time..He always delivered an awesome performance...never lacking passion..

Casio....man what crap synths don't waste ya money!...I have an Access TI, Korg M3, Nord G2, Fatantom X6, Roland Vsynth, MicroKorg midi, Korg triton extreme, Now there synthesizers:-)
I just got this keyboard at a thrift store for two dollars.. I almost threw it out because I tried putting a wall outlet plug in to it, and wellllllll it started smoking hahaha and I thought it was broken, but I stuff the SIX DOUBLE A BATTERIES in it and it works and it's addicting, best two dollars spent ever.
Nice video.Sounded very pretty.SK10 is very rare but but not as popular as SK-1 since it doesn't have any audio output jack and external input jack for a better audio sampling.Take good care of it
You're awersome. I never met anyone that could use any Casio SK model and make it sound just amazing. Especially the SK-10. => I wished you lived near me!
The music's so beautiful and meditative. I'm a guitarist in a punk band, and use my Casio SK's as sort of "noise assault weapons."
However, what's needed in the culture to keep people from throwing these beautiful little instruments away or hacking them up in the name of hipster "circuit bending," is someone who can show the dulcetness and strange beauty of the SK's in their origninal form.
Thank you for doing that, and for not hacking up that rare SK-10. Take good care of it.
Supposed to be moderately rare. However, it has less features than the common Casio SK-1, so it's diminished desirability, to some extent, cancels out some of its rarity. I love the SK-10 because it's sound is simple and clean.
that was a lovely sound actually at the end that you played. if it was recorded properly on a song no one would know it was a shitty little contrapyion.
so fun! i just bought one of these at a thrift store. 4 dollars!

I do the same sampling of the voice thing with my SK60. I bet everyone with one of these Casio SKs does.

Liz rocks the SK-10. Let me know if you ever want to jam out, girl. :)

it seemed like you were playing pretty short notes... why'd you have to loop it? just sample your voice and play no loop needed.

Beautiful how you make that thing sing. Those machines of the 1980s, an electronic soul hidden in a plastic shell.

It's not a shitty little contraption-really. Have a heart. I loooove these instruments, and have 3 of them. Not an SK-10, though; they are rare.

Did you get that keyboard to record your voice and then play it back and work out the pitch of all the other notes?
