This situation is similar to how Nixon treated the Shafer Commission. When the scientists did their research and came back telling Nixon marijuana was safe and shouldnt carry criminal penalties, Nixon got rid of them, threw their research in the trash can, and made further research illegal in the U.S.
Now Gordon's scientists are quitting on him because he refuses to accept their claim that marijuana is safer than alcohol and tobacco.
who to believe, the scientists or the politicians?
Gen. Mc , with all due respect, congress should not even deal with this... this is another state issue. .... and to promote maranol (a pharma drug) of a natural plant? Listen to the police officers point of view.
When will these conservative nazis finally stop playing hitler and give the people their freedom!? Marijuana is the most wonderful plant and medicine god has given to us! And people who want to use it, will do it anyway...

Legalizing -smoking- marijuana is just a fun idea, not a smart one.
There are plenty of methods, including chewing the fucking plant and swallowing it, that don't buy into the media-based hype of bringing a yellow joint, blunt, bong, or aristocratically-guised glass pipe. Smoking marijuana has immediate effects, whereas eating it takes several tens of minutes to take effect, and it lasts. Those wanting to smoke legally are impulsive, irresponsible, and dare I reiterate: lazy.
by the way - I smoke, "bro," why don't you chill the fuck out and come up with something good to say.
I think that's your way of saying "I have no argument to what you're saying, as it's true that marijuana doesn't need to be smoked for someone to still enjoy its effects and get medical use out of it." This swisher's to you, lil beeeitch
Not all who smoke are impulsive, irresponsible, or lazy. Many people get high responsibly and even function normally when high. Your last comment irritated me because you put everyone who inhales under a label. Sorry about overreacting
I smoke. Every time I've come here, I've had a blunt ready. I comment before as not to be pacified.
I have one sitting in front of me.
But - I have a close friend who tries to say she has "state-dependent learning" and needs to be high to both store or study information, and also to recall that information for exams. A complete joke imho.
True, most aren't aware that those who smoke all of the time are actually the least effected due to tolerance. No one discusses tolerance, it's vital.
But please defend the NEED to smoke it vs. the other methods of intake. Vaporization, eating, and any others that might exist: pill-form. People just like the effects of how it is when you smoke it. Shit, I do.
But for a nation-wide change? I'm not interested in tobacco's contribution to cancer - why should we legalize smoking marijuana? Given the DUI-related propaganda about it, it would be easier to legalize vaporizing (which implies patience, slow rate of hits, and home-use). try me.
too bad 75% of america thinks it should be legalized, and ITS NEVER HURT ANYONE and has been PROVEN to grow cancer-killing brain cells. wtf ar e YOU smoking midinerd?
Oh, Bob Marley and Tricky would surely tell us all to always smoke, if Marley were alive and Tricky's vocal chords were resonant enough to believably say so.
I like marijuana, and I'd be happy with it being legalized. Yall are missing the point - if we had it legalized in ways that make sense (as marinol does exist already) it would legalize vaporizing and other safe methods, which is a fucking gateway to getting smoking legalized.
You're angry that I'm actually putting thought into this.
and please remember that we were talking about -smoking- (I used dashes around it and it was my thesis that you responded to).
Those are nice statistics, without any references, making it a shot in the dark. If you want to argue with me that taking something way the fuck away from what our body likes for homeostasis, putting it in there over and over, coating lungs with a resinous, long-term irritant won't cause cancer. Denial. I smoke it but am irritated by federal requests for unhealthiness
So you're saying that because someone wants immediate effects, that makes them impulsive and lazy? Let me ask you a question. Have you ever used a microwave oven? If so, why? Most likely because it is quicker and easier. If this were true, using your own logic, you yourself are impulsive, irresponsible, and lazy. Perhaps we should outlaw microwave ovens, and only allow conventional ovens?
Knowing that you can get medical substances in pill-form, do you still seek out its plant derivative and cure it, smoke it? Knowing you can avoid the inherent carcinogenic effects assocaited solely with SMOKE (please enlighten me what 'healthy smoking' is and why I haven't heard of it yet, and vaporizing is sublimated thc vapor - not smoke).
Sitting right above my microwave, across from the stove, is a toaster oven, and that's what I use to be honest. Sorry to dispel your non-sequitar.
And by the way, choose something more difficult to argue against other than me using the word 'lazy.' The fact you selected the easiest, emotionally-related item shows you're not using the vigilance to discuss the real issue: 'big tobacco is bad' only because of smoke. So let's legalize smoking more shit, please. No, we can legalize marijuana, and let's not highlight Smoking.
Smoking isn't illegal, weed is, and people are always ready to pit health against desire, so we need a good route.
Personally: I like marijuana for me, personally, as it keeps me introverted and only makes me hungry or sleepy (good for nighttime), I smoke it which isn't healthy, but I like that it helps me sleep and induces laughter, as well as allows me to not have a rigid fix on the things about other people that disappoint me. Honestly.
Government/medically: Smoked marijuana is a joke. Marinol does exist, I have a friend who says she has "state-dependent learning" and needs to get high. BS. Marinol
fuck the laws its my body i dont need the government telling me what i can or cannot do who made them the boss of my body only GOD owns u Legalize the WEED
Barry McCaffrey couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it. From his lies about his actions in the first Gulf War, to this, lying about his actions as drug czar. The man is a staunch prohibitionist who cares nothing about liberty. Who cares if the FDA hasn't supported it? Of course they haven't. Medical Marijuana competes with the toxic swill pharmaceutical companies make and the FDA exists to protect the profits of the pharmaceutical industry.
The general says that Congress passes laws not the DOJ. True, but it is the judicial arm of government's job to decide if the laws Congress passes are Constitutional.
IMHO the Judicial Branch has failed in its mission.
McCaffrey came across like an old fool beating his senseless war drum, ignoring everything that goes on around him and clinging to the ideas he picked up in his youth. Reality has changed, clearly, since there are now more that 800 dispensaries in L.A. that operate openly But the fool McCaffrey doesn't understand this, he only looks at the inside of his own skull. Please retire already, General, we have deserved it.
that has never won any war why does the media go to him any more how much is he paid? he was a loser in vietnam and we paid for it now he is on TV every day and I am sick of him he is a loser
Aw come on, that interview was unfair. I'm a libertarian and I disagree with McCafferty, but he's at least more intelligent than most of the guys you see Cato going up against in these interviews; but though outnumbered he was cut off to give the last word to the other guy.

There are so many diseases that it helps. We need to allow this as medicine on a more widespread level. I don't have either of the big 3 but my life depends on cannabis to live.
I agree to an extent, but at least Lou put two pro-legalization people on the show and gave them each a good amount of time to state their positions. That is very rare.

The real problems you don't understand the difference between LEGAL and LAWFUL.
The issue is the language.
de·le·gal·ize - To revoke the legality of
, and everyone saying we should make Marijuana legal is ignorant and stupid, and don't know about what they are saying.
Marijuana is already legalized that's why it is illegal to use it, and that is the VERY ISSUE.
Is what people should say is that they want to DE-LEGALIZE MARIJUANA.
Its illegal to use but not unlawful
