This like so many cases...Hey ump! thats a $29.95 shirt not a badge... In my league we as coaches must go through yearly training and back-ground checks but not the Umpires =/
as soon as he (ump) raised his voice, he lost. Very unprofessional. He could of said everything he yelled, in a calm voice and he would of been ok, but no, he "fouled" up
Hey ILOVEUMPS, really? U ever watch MLB umpires? U ever see how they behave at times? And they are PROFESSIONAL UMPIRES???? Why are umpires set to a different level than coaches, players or fans???? Its ridiculous. that umpire was in the wrong but stop being so critical!!!
@millerforest BIG difference between what goes on in an MLB game and a youth/HS or even college game. That's his point and to be honest, he's completely correct. The manager was completely out of line, but as an umpire, you are taught how to deal with these situations diplomatically. In this case, after the ump ejected the manager, he should have walked away. If the mgr refused to leave, then you hold up play until he does leave. You NEVER scream at a coach and get in his face like that.
This umpire would bee suspended if I was his UIC. While the coach may have deserved the ejection, there is NEVER a reason for an umpire to act like this. We are paid to be professional at all times. This umpire should be suspended until he goes through more training. This was totally unprofessional.
@Critter- I did NOT say the video showed everything, are you saying this video showed everything that happen? Yes the coach should have left and if he does not the umpire should have cleared the field of all players until he did. #3 Ummm if you read my post I said "Officials (Umpires-Refs)" that covers ALL sports. In California and most states game Officials are protected by law. Not sure why you were so offended by my post. Oh yah, and coaches push buttons all the time learn to deal with it!
He looked like an assistant coach arguing a call at first. In Louisiana as an umpire, by rule, if any coach other than the head coach, argues any call - you're gone. This ump over did it after the ejection, though. I did, however, laugh when the umpire said "GO! Go AWAY!!" lmao
@Frostylyxxx i know in softball babe ruth the head coach is suppose to come out and talk to us if they don't like a certin call or didn't agree with it.
@Frostylyxxx I too am a Louisiana ump. I would have called the game if I were the chief umpire. Then notified my boss about the situation. The moment the civil gov't is involved I no longer have jurisdiction or it has at least been superceded. I've never tossed anybody, and hope to never toss a coach or player, but I can definitively understand the umps reaction. There are coaches I wanted to punch, but never did, ha
@reconciledbygrace I agree with you. There shouldn't be any cop on the field unless it is to break up a fight. If i have my authority underminded on the field, I'd end the game right there
#1 Umpire was inappropriate and should not Ump if this is how he is. #2 Did anyone ever think that maybe a threat was made and someone (fan) called the cops. BTW, Officials (Umpires-Refs) are protected by law. If you assault an umpire you get in a lot more trouble. Its not like fighting with another fan.
@TheCaliFisher 1. the umpire threw him out he should of left right there 2. the umpire did loose his control but the coach was pushing his buttons 3. umm i doubt that... you see the video did you see or hear anythign threats? NO THERE UMPIRES NOT REF. UMPIRE OFFICATES game the refs are for basketball, football and some other sports i don't know
how about you listen and stop being childish and leave the field? you people need to shut the fuck up and behave yourself the umpire ejected him he needs to leave like it or not. he shouldn't of lost is control though the same time coachs need to listen and stop being dicks. they just wasted your tax money congrats.
Obviously the ump lost his cool, which he shouldn't do. But if that were a manager getting in the umpire's face and yelling like that -- which they do all the time -- would anyone have called the cops? Of course not. So why did they in this case. Ridiculous.
WOW... that was horrible display of self control by the umpire.... He should not have acted like a lunatic.... If he was in our Association there would have been a disciplinary hearing on his actions.... I hope his partner read him the riot act after the game for the he acted!!!

@MrRico2470 We all know that when the cops deal with you, that in a trembling voice, it's "Yes Sir, yes Officer, whatever you say sir."
But here you talk all tough, like a typical little bitch.

Apparently there is so little crime in Boulder they can send three cops to respond to a bit of shouting at a baseball game.
