Very cool, why cant Australia have trains like this?
neildaust 1 year ago
@neildaust We could have. Ask your local MP why the Melbourne -Sydney high speed was never built.
@Rocketboy1950 hmm i bet commuter trains in Japan don't get abused by passangers like the ones in Sydney
@neildaust I bet you're right. Some even have a TV above each door running news, ads and train information.
Such a complex rail network and large variety of trains for a Nation as small as Japan! How do they keep everything running so smoothly?

@4223037 A different mindset and culture goes a very long way to maintaining high standards, safety and efficiency.
@Rocketboy1950 Good point. The mass transit system here in Washington D.C. could benefit from some higher standards. :(
...they are quite something - sound very smooth...

In 1970, when I was a soldier in Viet Nam, I went to Japan on R&R and rode the "Bullet Train" from Osaka to Tokyo.
I loved it!

@writesong In 1970 they would have actually had the bullet nosed front end. The original 0 series were withdrawn just recently. Still quite a few 100 and 200 series running with the 'bullet' nose.
