@Flashacks Thanks, Sweet runner ever since I dropped the front end and replaced the Lead - Yep - Lead-Copper alloy rod and crank bearings, and got the oil pressure back to spec (the oil idiot light stopped flashing at idle). Leyland back in the day actually recommended that you change the bearings every 20,000 miles! Now that's what I call 1970's British engine reliability, old chap!
@Riderand The motor is an inline 4-cylinder which is rotated (or slanted) at a 45 degree angle in it's axis with the transmission. This allows for extra room for the Intake system (Manifold, Carburetors, Choke System, Air Cleaner, etc.) as well as a lower hood profile, which was a must for the TR-7's "Wedgie" styling!
I had a 77 tr7 and i found out that the front bumper is the exact size of the front wheel arch of a 1982ish cad, damn idiot ran a red light and i hit him doing 15 mi and i cracked the frame on the tr7 in 5 spots and shoved the bumper over to the side by 1.5 feet. and all he got was a dented hub cap.. nice thing was that i got 3K more out of the car then what i had paid for it.
@whitevamp Man, that suck's. Yeah, It's been parked in the barn for the winter, I'll prolly end up getting Hagerty Insurance when I decide to take it out again, they will pay you a guaranteed value if your car gets crumpled!
Sorry for the late reply - Don't know of any aftermarket sources - but you can get some pretty good deals for New old stock speedos on ebay UK for around $50 to a hundred bucks or so - WAAAY cheaper than a replacement speedo for my old '81 Honda Goldwing, for instance ($250!).
I was, unfortunately, shooting the video while cupping the camera in my hand like a baseball! I have since graduated to a suction cup mount, and plan to do some video shooting the entire cab with the convertible top down!
@Sturgeonstairway Wow! That's cool, and kinda funny :) Thanks for doing this, I appreciate it. I am the new second owner of a 1980 TR7 DHC. I'm picking up a 1963 Buick 215 V8 for her soon! I need to start posting some vids of 'er, but there's not a whole lot to see yet. Thanks for sharing!
FYI, got a new COOOOLLLLD Start video of the British beast up on my channel, oh yeah!.

Nope - think those only came on the TR8 - you can get conversion kits for the 7 though.

Might want to consider an alignment.

@Nettikturbo
Might not help--these 7s are all known to shake at around 55-60. Mine does!

Did you have the camera mounted to your head? How'd you shoot that? Nicely done.

Hey, it made you watch the video! :o) Seriously though, that guy needs to pay more attention to his driving or he'll be cruisin' for a bruisin'!
Sturgeonstairway 1 year ago
@Sturgeonstairway
by cruising for a bruisin, you mean rolling over a tr7 like it's a paper cup, while he remains mostly un-injured, yes?

OH YEAH...my little wedgie definitely wasn't known for it's safety features!

If that's a near miss then I'm a monkey's uncle! :-)
Nice car though.
