That one hell of a comeback ... I remember hearing about that and I kind of not surprise cause text has the offense to do and Minnesota defense never been good
It's sad nobody even recognizes this great comback ever in the past 10 years. 35-7 to start the third quarter!!? And come back and win? That's amazing.
Free energy is finaly here! But the powerfull Oil business won't alow common ppl to know this,if you want a real Free energy Magnet Motor, get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Big change is comming soon!
Minnesota lost this game cause they didn't play 4 quarters, they had texas tech down by 4 touchdowns, they allowed them to spark a comeback in the 2nd half.
I watched this game from beginning to end with my dad, grandmother and uncle. I believed they could come back even at half time. Still it amazes me to watch replays of this.
VikingsOwn18------ what goes down in the record book? that minnesota ALMOST won, or that tech DID win....... " it doesnt matter if its by an inch or a mile, winning is winning." Im not saying tech is some badass team that should win every game, but they did come out on top in this one and you should man up and admit it.
@VikingsOwn18 Says a lot from a guy hiding behind the computer. It's far from luck when you score 41 second half points off a bowl team. Jump in a hole.. Thanks.
LOL, you are welcome! This was a great memory for me. I was trying to watch the game with my family in Houston but the satellite service kept crapping out because of a horrible thunderstorm. And then it finally came back on just in time to see the tying field goal at the end of regulation.
lol, man how does that even happen??LMAO!!! U must've felt like SHIT! Thats all that program is ever going to be known for from here on out lol..what else have they done????? bbbaaahhahahahahahahaa!!!
man if this game took place after the new clock rules, TxTech would not have come back. that stupid game clock rule takes away a lot of amazing comebacks like this one
Im a LONGHORNS fan I went to a high school where we were longhorns and i love texas. But Texas Tech is a badass team even tho they beat us. Its good to know Texas is a college football state. Gotta love them texas teams. This was a great comeback!
I can't Believe i was at this game..it was an amazing xmas gift from my dad. We moved from lubbock when i was 10 and I've loved texas tech since i was 5 at least my mom went there as well..this was my first time seeing them in person since Zach Thomas played for us. This was the single greatest sporting event I have ever been too..then energy was great. I love my RED RAIDERS!!
the reason mason got fired is because he could never turn the corner. he came so close with the Michigan game in 03, Becky in 05 and this game. we had the game wrapped up and just had to hang on and we never could because he would get so conservative with 30 mins left on the clock.
sure those games hurt but now i am kind of happy that we did b/c if we would have won them we would still be here with a record of 5-3, getting our hopes up and blow another chance at making the program big time
That is right about why Glen was let go! And, one reason that Minnesota blew this lead and so many other against good teams was because Glen Mason went into a prevent defense. But, IMHO, the biggest reason was because of Glen Mason's lazy recruiting efforts. Since Minnesota wasn't a super easy sell to begin with, Glen assumed no bluechippers would want to come to Minnesota, so he waited around for the leftovers.
As a result of Glen's lazy recruiting, Glen's players often weren't as strong as many of the players on the opposing teams, and his players got tired very early. I do think, though, that Glen would be a good coach at a mid-major school where recruiting isn't as big of a deal.
Now, if Tech played like they did in the last 30 minutes of that game ALL YEAR they would make Ohio State's defense look like crap. Not like OSU needs to look any worse.
umm...Tx Tech #2, OSU isn't in the top 10 are they? Also, best of luck playing in the Big 12 Conference, you'd never have the cakewalk that you get over MSU, Michigan, or Iowa.
this was like a realy great game but todays game against uva today was a really sloppy game. until the 4th quarter. leach realy has the ability to motivate an unmotivated team. thats really wat we were in this game and the game today. but automatic alex proved he's still a valuble weapon
Love or hate Texas Tech...you gotta admit the boys always have heart. They might be down but they don't ever give up. Go Coach Leach, go team...guns up.
i was at that game and as a gophers fan it was sick but congrats to tech for having the will to come all the way back...with some traditional minnesota choke play
It just goes to show that its never over. Tech always plays with heart, and you never know what the end result is going to be. Everyone in the bar had given up, but I had faith. GO TECH! Lets kick some OU butt tonight!
that was probably 1 of the greatest comebacks in college football and you just can't argue with that. Who knows of more than five college teams that have back from 31 or more points in the fourth quarter to win?
ya because mason-the old coach always would have huge leads and then go into a prevent defense which is bad enough casue the gophers have never been good at pass d and then u throw in that mason plays all conservative and runs the rest of the game which blows it. thank god he is gone
Incredible comeback, when I saw the highlights for it, the word unbelievable came to mind. Got to love the BigXII, they always play hard. Great Video and congratulations on your win from a Texas fan.
thats unexpected...The Unplugged version of Alice in Chains - Nutshell. and then it went in to some sort of new-metal garbage... hope that answers it...
WRECK'EM TECH! Straight out of West Texas, would you expect anything else? The only reason they were behind is because they procrastinated in scoring they're points.. HAHA
I'm an Ok St. alum, but my girlfriend went to TT and that is (outside of OSU) my favorite team on earth to watch. Ya'll are so lucky to have Coach Leach, you have no idea. If, GOD FORBID, he ever gets a really solid defense, Texas Tech will rule the Big XII and probably win a MNC. Hope it doesn't happen, of course, but I LOVE your team!
I was watching this game with my family on Christmas vacation in San Antonio. We ordered room service and hilariously, the room service guy was a Gopher fan. Naturally, he was like "Tech sucks, we're up by 31." After another round of ice cream, he was back in the room to watch the game tying field goal. We let him stay to watch OT. The look on his face when Tech won was priceless. Us and the people next to us woke up the entire hall going crazy!
it was an awesome game. i watched the whole game again. after the 3rd quarter, i was still asking myself how the hell we came back. you can re-watch the game on the nfl network quarter by quarter.

Of course, Minnesota Coach Glen Mason was fired the next day. Had Minnesota not lost this way, he would still be their coach right now. Minnesota blew a lot of leads like this and lost while Mason was their coach. However, you have to give Mason credit. Before he got to Minnesota, their program was in the pits. He made them a solid program, took them to bowl games, and they pulled upsets.
What was so impressive about what coach Mason did was that he got good players to go to Minnesota and made them a good program despite the fact that they play their home games at the Metrodome. How many players would want to call the Metrodome home? It is off-campus, not owned by the school, is an indoor venue, and is old and glum. That makes for a lousy gameday atmosphere!
Minnesota is going to get their own beautiful outdoor stadium in a couple of years. Had Mason been around, he definitely would have gotten better players, had better teams, and been to better bowls. However, with his coaching style, he probably would have still blown several leads. I guess it was time for a coaching change. Now, here is the question. Will Minnesota be able to take it to another level with Tim Brewster as coach?
When it was 38-14 I promised I'd buy everyone in the bar a shot if tech won. Best $145 I ever spent. Best football game I have ever seen followed closely by:
Tech - Texas 2002 (classic whoever has the ball last)
Tech - OU 2005 (yes, it was a td....Amendola didn't get the 1st down though)
Tech - Texas 2006 (Tech lost this game but it was one of, if not the best game I have ever been to)
Yup, Chris Hatcher from Valdosta St. is our new Head Coach! We dropped the option last year with a new coach, he was fired and now we've gone to the air raid!
I wish they would had showed how bad we played to get down this much. That was the amazing part to me, the way they just turned it form playing like shit( I think temple could have beat us in teat first half) to like a bowl quality team.
i was there!!! on the Minny side too!!! you wont belive how cocky they where...when we won i told them to have a safe trip home lol...i got to go for my b-day...what a gift it was.. Wreck'em Tech!
I was listening to the fourth quarter of this game, cheering my head off for Tech (Big XII pride and all that). It's a damn shame NFL Network carried the game, because it was one of the best bowl games last year. Minnesota just appeared gassed in the fourth quarter trying to chase the Tech offense around the field.
I was at this game. After all it is a nice vacation but anyway I just want to say the Raiders got luckey in playing MN in this situation. What other program blows 2 31 pt. leads in the second half in 3 years? And who loses to their biggest rival by dropping a punt in their own end zone with 30 sec. left? I was at all these game and because of these blown finishes, I have sat on the dge of my seat until the end.
That is true. They lost some memorable games after having a big lead. However, you have to give him credit for making Minnesota a respectable program and taking them to several bowl games. Do you think Brewster can do better?
I was never prouder to be a Red Raider. If Tech can play like it did the second half of this game all the time, its hard to beat us. The amount of heart that I saw at this game was incredible. Go Tech!
Point well taken. All little fast guys except for Peters. This year we had all big guys except for Amendola and some of the new guys. I would still make an argument for this years squad but either way it was one of the best.
You know the thing that surprises me the most is not the offense. The offense is designed to put points on the board in a short time like that. Its that their defense completely shutdown Minnisota at the end. That was the thing that impressed me most.

Tech - Texas 2006 (Tech lost this game but it was one of, if not the best game I have ever been to)

Air Raid! I hope GSU can pull similar feats with their new Air Raid attack!

Georgia Southern has an Air Raid attack now?
AftermathSpectre 4 years ago
Yup, Chris Hatcher from Valdosta St. is our new Head Coach! We dropped the option last year with a new coach, he was fired and now we've gone to the air raid!

I wish they would had showed how bad we played to get down this much. That was the amazing part to me, the way they just turned it form playing like shit( I think temple could have beat us in teat first half) to like a bowl quality team.
TexasTechFan 4 years ago
the first half was awfull. I almost turned it off.

to come back down from 38-7 to win a game is unheard of this will go down as an instant classic along with the fiesta bowl

i was there!!! on the Minny side too!!! you wont belive how cocky they where...when we won i told them to have a safe trip home lol...i got to go for my b-day...what a gift it was.. Wreck'em Tech!

congrats on playing a pretty good big ten team and beating them... very nice comeback

I was listening to the fourth quarter of this game, cheering my head off for Tech (Big XII pride and all that). It's a damn shame NFL Network carried the game, because it was one of the best bowl games last year. Minnesota just appeared gassed in the fourth quarter trying to chase the Tech offense around the field.

that was the perfect time for Alex Trilica to kick his career long

Talk about running a 4.53 i run a 4.63 and i never saw woods run that good i got his autograph at the spring game this year!!!

I was at this game. After all it is a nice vacation but anyway I just want to say the Raiders got luckey in playing MN in this situation. What other program blows 2 31 pt. leads in the second half in 3 years? And who loses to their biggest rival by dropping a punt in their own end zone with 30 sec. left? I was at all these game and because of these blown finishes, I have sat on the dge of my seat until the end.

whos song is that?

It is Chris Dauntry. He is the idiot from american idol who turned down Fuel's offer to be their new lead vocalist

Great job by the comcast by screwing me out of seeing this game.

This is a perfect example of the Gophers under coach Glen Mason. They could never hold a lead.
sidmer 4 years ago
nah man dont blame them Texas Tech can come back on ANYBODY
DSNCB919 4 years ago
That is true. They lost some memorable games after having a big lead. However, you have to give him credit for making Minnesota a respectable program and taking them to several bowl games. Do you think Brewster can do better?
gymman1031 4 years ago
I was never prouder to be a Red Raider. If Tech can play like it did the second half of this game all the time, its hard to beat us. The amount of heart that I saw at this game was incredible. Go Tech!

Unreal game and comeback. Was very proud to be a fan of the Big XII that night. Great video and congrats from your Husker brother.

Husker fans are so nice. What the hell, Go Big Red...unless of course you're playing tech

I'm gonna miss ROJO, Filinai, and Hicks
TexasTechFan 4 years ago
I know, best recieving core we have ever had at tech. Filani ran a 4.52 at the combine though so im sure we will be seeing him play on sundays.
rync 4 years ago
Best receiving core was Nehemiah Glover, Wes Welker, Carlos Francis, and Mickey Peters but ROJO, Filani, and Hicks certainly weren't bad.
mfredraider 4 years ago
Point well taken. All little fast guys except for Peters. This year we had all big guys except for Amendola and some of the new guys. I would still make an argument for this years squad but either way it was one of the best.
rync 4 years ago
i ran a 4.53 end junior season highschool but i sure as hell don got hands like that
DSNCB919 4 years ago
The new core is going to be even better!
navylca 4 years ago
Really?
DSNCB919 4 years ago
You know the thing that surprises me the most is not the offense. The offense is designed to put points on the board in a short time like that. Its that their defense completely shutdown Minnisota at the end. That was the thing that impressed me most.
rmlonghornofelk 5 years ago
rmlonghornofelk, I agree. If in every game, our offense could play with that accuracy and our defense with that tenacity, we'd be dangerous.
