  • Both are amazing cars... but the e9x M3 without Nav!? Urghhh... rather with it!

  • I noticed that the M3 you were testing came with what BMW calls the "speed cloth" interior. I think they look great, save you a little cash, will probably hold you better, and wear better. However everyone I've talked to about this can't see the purpose of opting for cloth interior on anything with a BMW badge, let alone one of their marque cars. What are your thoughts?

  • I love that you made this video as a unique comparison of the e46 and e90 generations, but is it entirely fair to compare the e46 coupe to the e90 sedan? I think you should have compared it to the M3 e92 coupe!

  • Is this E90 Le Mans Blue or Monte Carlo? I'm in the market for one and I want one that is the exact same color as the one in this video.

  • @Omega08082 Interlagos Blue - and it looks fantastic in person.

  • I could afford to buy a used M3 for $37,000. But, I don't think I could afford the insurance, fuel, maintenance and repair.

  • Is a used e92 m3 really worth twice the price of the e46? Is it twice the fun?

  • Excellent work!

  • Fantastic review, now a subscriber! If we are allowed to make any kind of special requests, I would love it if you guys could do a review on a 2006 GTO, they are a great buy for the money with alot of horsepower and torque for days!

  • Very good review

  • I know you guys said that the proportions on the Sedan are better, but if it was your money, which one would YOU buy?

  • @ltrebl - Paul would definitely buy the four door, Todd changes his mind a lot on this question. Watch our "FAQ #2" for a discussion of the guys favorite cars.

  • Great reviews! 4 door M3... I'd rather have a 2 door one.

  • would you be able to do a review on e39 530i or e39 m5? I'm 6'3 and think I wont fit in e46 :(

  • You guys have really nice reviews I love how every review is a sort of dual-review so you get multiple opinions. Really nice reviews, you covered everything I was looking for.

  • Absolutely amazing work, gents. Once again you deliver quality. Get your name out there! Blogs and forums are the best place to start!

  • @ElementKO1 - Thank you. Immensely. We are doing what we can to let people know about our work.

We'd appreciate your help as well - you guys can cover a lot more ground than we can! Let a friend, Forum, or favorite blog know about us - Many thanks!

  • e46 looks way better

  • @EverydayDriver Love your work, especially the Evo x/Gt-r reviews as I'm an owner. I find your reviews to be very accurate and honest, are you looking for a little variety, another host? Could you offer any pointers on moving into this line of work?

  • @JohnsonBarry - Thanks or watching and commenting! No, we aren't looking for any more hosts, but do appreciate your interest. We'll PM you with some thoughts on getting into the auto journalist world.

  • can you guys do a review of the honda prelude?

  • I wish you guys had made a review of the RS4.

  • WHAT 70 GRAND? the m3 sedan was $58k base MSRP.

  • @thedenimvault The base m3 sedan, like any base BMW, has nothing. To price one out that has all the accessories you expect this car to have you are easily getting to the high 60s. A fully loaded e90 m3 will run you 75. I have a pretty well equipped e90 m3 that came in around 67 MSRP and I negotiated down from there. I saved a bunch in that I prefer a 6MT over the DCT.

  • @nfr201 my friend has a base m3 and it's fine. people who buy an m3 for luxury and pay bmw's nickle and dime tax on everything are suckers.

  • @thedenimvault Haha - I hear you, I definitely did not get a fully loaded m3, just the options I felt I needed/wanted. But who am I to say how people should spend their money, especially if they can afford it.

I will say though, even though I drive a 6mt, the DCT transmission may be worth it... its just so damn easy to drive that sucker around a track fast.

  • @nfr201 everyone I know has a DCT in their M3. that's the only option they do buy. it's always the ricers of youtube that trash talk because they have to saw through gears on their 93 civics and think doing that makes them legit.

the DCT will easily shave a second off your quarter mile and 0-60s

  • E46 m3 for life

  • You guys honestly do the best, most comprehensive reviews! Without the pointless fluff... I would LOVE to see you guys on TV taking over the current US Top Gear show... oh man that would be a dream come true!

You guys inspired me to do a review of my new ride... the 2012 VW Jetta GLI 6-speed Manual 2.0 Turbo

  • keep tanner foust but get rid of rutlidge and adam and put todd and paul on top gear USA

  • you would buy it in a heart beat? go ahead; good luck to your pocket.

  • Team up with Brian Cooley of Cartech and us viewers have one gem with you folks and him!

Thumbs up fellas, you two know your cars

  • Wow the quality of this video, and your videos in general lately has been of another class. Bravo , this is TV quality entertainment. Thank you for making these videos.

  • your videos are very entertaining and mind-easing. just as I say "yes new top gear episode is out, time to relax", i say that about your videos as well.

  • You guys need to checkout new F30 328 as soon as you get the chance. 0-60 under 6s over 40mpg and it's the base model! In Europe they'll sell for about 30k E which is what you have to pay here for golf Gti.

  • Excellent review, loved the setting and the cars. Great job guys

  • The photography was SO good this episode. The reflection of the canyon at 2:17 blew my mind. You guys also really excel at judging the appearance of the cars you reviews. Really solid episode. Keep it up.

  • E46 is still the best looking M3 IMO.

  • Between the two of you, if you read between the lines, one can get a very objective view of the car. That's quite rare in the day and age of "manufacturer sponsored reviewers"!

  • @isurujosh - We take that as quite a compliment, thank you.

  • Another great review on cars that car guys are actually interested in. The E90 seems like an updated E39 M5 which is a great thing. It seems like the only negative is what a gas guzzler the car is.

  • I agree, this car is great, a great all-arounder! The engine sounds awesome. Great review guys.

  • I own an e92 M3, the M button does NOT change the engine power. Except this comment, I like the rest of the video.

  • Hey, nice area. Where is that?

  • yo should do a review once in the tail of the dragon

  • @spforsupergringo1980 - We would LOVE to. It's only money, right?

  • Why such a massive difference between hp and torque?

  • @LeastOfTheMajority low displacement v8's tend to have way more hp than torque, especially high revving ones like in this m3. the mercedes 6.2 v8 in the c63 coupe has more displacement and it only has 37 more hp but has 148 more lb-ft of torque

  • RS4 > M3

  • what about e92 coupe :)?

  • Seriously guys, where is this place?

P.S. You guys produce the best content on youtube :)

  • @rob11s - We work very hard on each piece, and are very thankful for that compliment.

Meanwhile... Most of our locations are in and around Southern California. Occasionally, we also shoot in Utah - this shoot was around the Salt Lake City / Park City area.

  • i have to say, out of all the car shows i watch on youtube, you guys go to the best and most beautiful locations, many props

  • Meh. Other than the first gen m3, the rest felt overrated. Too heavy, not as capable as bmw would like me to believe. The e36 was my least favourite of the lot. The e92 is way too understeery at the limit for my liking as well. The e46 has a certain something I love about it. My current pick on bmws would be the 1m coupe, and the m5 for the sedan guys.

  • E39 M5 owner here, I love both M3s! If you're more a driver (non track) I would recommend the 6 speed, it's a blast to drive!

  • still like the E46 with the classic inline 6. SMG on the E46 was never to be smooth, you want a manual.

  • I've been waiting for this video forever man!

  • E30 for life

  • I hope you do something similar with the BMW M5 series. I love to hear you take on the E39, E61, and F10.

  • Y U NO REVIEW E36?

I like that car better than its successor. And it came with 4 doors. Plus its as old as I am.

  • The biggest problem the car has is the CTS-V. You can get a <15,000 mile example for under 50k with 150 more hp, that is cheaper to fix, available in a wagon and manual. Plus it's only a pulley and tune away from 600 rwhp.

  • @luimarco weights for the vehicles are

    E30 M3 2,865lbs. E36 M3 3,219lbs.

    E46 M3 3,415lbs. E90 M3 3,726lbs.

    E92 M3 3,704lbs.

Great video guys, but you should of add the E30 and E36 M3's as well.

  • @elchicanojp the e36 is ok i use to really like that car if it came with the same engine it got it germany it would of been big here too but i have to go with the e46 m3 and e30 m3

  • Brilliant cars & a brilliant review. Great job ED.

  • Paul looks like Andres Iniesta from FC Barcelona

  • wait wait what i can hear the engine breathing :D

  • Where did you film this? It's beautiful! Great review by the way. Hope you can review the BMW 1M soon

  • they should have added the e36 and the e30 to give a little retro look-back on the M3 series. they arnt expensive, and they should have been easy to find.

  • I love the series, but why is there a lack of updates and why is there such a long gap in between? I love the reviews, but sometimes forget the show exists due to the lack of updates.

  • idk y but i dont like these presenters

  • Awesome two-parter! Love it and loved how I could actually hear the engine sounds nicely. good vids; LOVE the M3s.

  • For some reason you guys always choose to do the review in the best locations.

  • @rforracing - Thank you. We do a lot of location scouting and try to make the setting as interesting as the cars. Some times it works better than others, but we were blessed on this one!

  • I love the E90 M3 and would love to buy one. My next car will be a M3 or CTS-V wagon.

    WRX Owner

  • Where do you guys film at? nice roads and beautiful scenery

  • You guys should review the new E63 AMG and M5.

  • you guys are the only ones that make the viewers feel like they have taken the car for a test drive without driving it YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!!!

  • @TheThedragonwarrior - That is about the biggest compliment you could offer us. Many thanks!

  • I just can't wait for the next one now.

  • lol why would you need a tent if you could just live in ur m3???

  • It must be Christmas!

  • damn torque is lower than i thought it would be

  • Get into debt or get a tent and buy the m3 lol

  • @fussballkingpro I've got the tent already!

  • love it nice review

  • Great review and what a cool car! Damn I love the E90!

  • 8:08 - beautiful countryside, I want to go there!

Also, once again, I'm going to have to recommend buying american when buying older just because of the repair bills being lower. Even BMW themselves do acknowledge that their spare part can get too costly and they said they would do something about it, but that remains to be seen.

  • Todd and Paul for Top Gear USA!!!!!

  • @psumiz Although I would love for Todd and Paul to get more exposure, I'm not sure if I'd want to do that to them, b/c the American version of TG is (was?) pretty much unwatchable lol.

  • @psumiz The best statement I've seen in a very long time

  • Car reviews free of british accents! BMW did a great job turning around Rolls Royce. German-owned Rolls Royce...I like the sound of that.

  • Several Mistakes in this Video Amongst Which :

1:35 the weight difference between the E46 and the E90 M3 is NOT 400 lbs it is merely 200 lbs

5:35 the M Button will NOT Change the Engine power, it will just sharpen the Throttle response

  • @luimarco - Todd says, "About 400lbs" - though the actual stat is a bit over 300. And yes, there isn't an actual increase in power, but a change in throttle mapping. Paul did mis-speak here.

We don't claim to be perfect, and there's a lot going on for us mid-filming. ;-) Sometimes we don't get it as right as we should. We do appreciate you keeping us honest.

  • I would love to drive that car and own one... I just know the first time I had to replace the tires or change the timing belt, that premium bill would sour the whole experience for me. I really enjoy the drivers experience of a car, but not but as long as it can be done with in reason. Great episode.

  • The M3 is my dream car and this two-part series has been some of your best work. Keep it up, you two!

  • how about reviewing the Chevy cruze eco next?

  • @bear34love Oh God, please NO!

  • I think I would buy the E36 sedan. Only because I am 15 turning 16 soon and I have 4 siblings I need to haul around. Great comparison though, you guys do great reviews.

  • ofcourse you should. question is which one. no smg or dsg shit though. its just must be manual. it MUST. i say MUST.

  • yes! finally!

  • first
