Everybody seems to place The Number of the Beast or maybe Killers as their favorite Iron Maiden album, but for some reason I've always found Powerslave to be their best album.

@DimebagsZombie I always liken Powerslave as Maiden's Ride The Lightning, and Number of the Beast as Master of Puppets. Although most people say Beast and Puppets are the respective bands at their best and most definitive style, it's in Powerslave and Ride that they've truly refined that style and found what they can call their sound. Which is why I think the same way as you.

you know I have never bought an Maiden cd but I can remember when i started watching "Headbangers Ball" when i was 12(around 88 during the Adam Curry years).They would play Maiden videos both newer releases and ones from past years and I never heard one song that didn't just blow me away. Other than the Chilli Peppers(completely different genre i know) at least by my taste has done that. Even some of my favorite bands have singles i don't care for.

Dave plays the slow solo in the first part of the interlude at 2:49. In my opinion, its his finest solo. The phrasing, tone, and emotion he puts into it are absolutely awe-inspiring. And the ironic thing about it is that he is known first and foremost as a legato-based shredder. That solo makes the song, and the entire album, absoutely fantastic.
