I'm pretty sure nothing would win against a semi, how many other types of vehicles on the road come even close to 80,000 or more pounds, stand 14' tall, and 80' long?
what people don't understand about smart cars is that there is little to no crumple zone, therefore due to the very elementary laws of physics (look up impulse etc) even if the cockpit stayed intact, the amount of force on your internals would kill you anyways.
my father crashed into a chevy carpice 1988 it rolled it into a beer can and 4 peaple were killed, if that big of a car was crushed i dont think a smart car would win, and by the way do you even now how to shift
For what they are they are pretty safe....but come on...You hit a semi in one??? The Smart car will get creamed along with its occupants...but the way I see it is this....No matter what you are driving...If its your time to go, its your time...Makes no difference if you are in a smart car or a train..
@scott93257 Yep, so very true. That and pretty much any car vs. a semi will lose, which is why I laugh when someone says their F-150 is better against a speeding semi than something smaller.
Some things have good passive safety (SUVs, trains, semis) and some things have good active safety (Lotus, Corvettes, motorcyles). You just have to choose the thing that has a good mix of both, then combine it with a good driver. Then you're practically the safest car on the road.
thats not even comparable. The semi out wieghs the smart car by what 30,000 pounds at the minumum. The white kid dosnt know what he is talking about and an 18 wheeler going 40 would honestly crumple the smart car there would be no chance. that was a really dumb thing to say white dude
thats and automatic death right there lol i think the semi would when heck a priest would total a smart car> lmao :)

although i have a feeling that the smart car would go bobbling head-heals overboard like a sack of apples if hit by a semi.

a video like this was kind of cool, though i was hoping to see a crash test between a smart car and a semi.

smart car vs. a motorcycle.
me and my figured you can get splattered in the car compare to just bouncing off the road from a motorcycle.

So your dad was driving the smart car, right?
And of course I know how to shift! I put the car on D and press on the gas pedal. Then the shifting happens, right?

ummm. search Google..... semi vs smart car...... click on the graphic site. and prepare for some mature content. not for young mids.

I have, the poor semi didn't know what hit it!

Not a smart car, that is actually a Volkwagen Crossfox. The smart doesn't carry ANY of that car's features.
Especially the fact that the Crossfox has 4 seats and a rear tire rack, none of which the smart has.

read the door panel (what's left) it says Cross...
That is a VW Crossfox, not a smart. The smart does not have that rear end, 4 seats, tire rack, or those tail lights
research!
I think that the smart is very safe. smart designed a revolutionary car.
