Wow, a lot of people are dissing the anime adaption. But for people like me who can't read the manga or get the VN, it's a great way to enjoy Umineko no Naku Koro ni. ;_; Does the anime really suck that bad?

It's not bad but it could have been MUCH better. They barely scratched the surface of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. If you really enjoyed the anime that's all the more reason to try the actual visual novel itself. I'm sorry you can't get it and I'm not telling you to get it through illegal means but its definitely worth getting. Most of the people dissing the anime have already read it. It's a good idea to watch the anime and then read the visual novel but not the other way around. lol

Haha its best to get it over the internet. I recommend torrenting it but it all depends on your morals. =/ If you don't want to then buy off of Amazon or whatever. I don't really know much about buying stuff online. Once you have it though you can download an english patch which you can easily find using google. EP 1 - 5 are already translated with EP 6 in progress.

hehe i didn't read the visual novels and I still dissed the anime.

I didn't like how alot of characters are killed repeatedly throughout the arcs without having a backstory to them or anything. Like Nanjo and a couple of the husbands. I also thought that the mysteriousness that was supposed to be there was dampened by the witch's crazy powers.

"No, I'm not going to have you just strangely die in a closed room. I'm going to send transforming schoolgirls to kill you instead."

Nanjo and the husbands do get pushed aside a lot in favor of more popular characters. That's just the way it goes unfortunately. =/

And the appearance of all these magical beings shocked me too when I first saw them. I was expecting a normal mystery and then goat butlers started appearing? What? But I think that Virgilia managed to explain this pretty well. It's all about whether or not you actually believe what you are shown. Can you take everything that is thrown at you at face value? The 5th part of this series (EP 5) goes further with this but unless they make a sequel to the anime you won't be able to see it.

It took me forever to find out the song name itself. I don't know who sings it but the name of the song is Fantasm Paradise or -fantasm- as some call it. Hope I helped~ XD

definitely the VN. The manga is a bit slow imo, and the anime compared to the VN is at it's most, decent. DEEN cut off alot and made epic scenes less epic, VN's are amazing with story, characters, and music and everything. See the anime first to have less expectations.

It contains all four of the "When They Cry 3" arcs, and all the special features that come with them including Tea Parties, "????" scenes, TIPS, and Music Box.

If you want all of Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru, aka "When They Cry 4", you'll have to wait for future developments to confirm which game will be the last. Of course, it will have all of the arcs in "When They Cry 4", but not "When They Cry 3".

So all you'll need to get the full Umineko experience is EP4 and EPwhatever.
