  • Excellent - nothing like an Essex in full blow. Around0:17 it sounds -exactly- like the Ford Sierra primary response car we used to have at the Fire Service here - when you start to go past 200 kph.

  • @rylan76 Did the sierra come out with v6? would have been quick!

  • @mutto82 Yep. This was in South Africa. Quite a few municipalities here used it as a PRV. If you give it some stick an Essex IMO has the most beautiful sound of any engine ever made by Ford. My very first shooting incident ever I turned out along with a senior paramedic on the Sierra. It went like stink - even when it was 10 years old (much later) it still easily ran at 235 kph+. Wonderful!

  • does this run a single stage colorado hamilton jet or similar? standard/coarse prop? cheers

  • @bottomline99 No it is a 750 series unit still single stage shaft(1 cutlass)3/4' but with an extra stage added so effectivey 2 stage-front impellor is 130hp(19deg i think) and rear is a 17 deg, It had a bit of slop in the vid so it reved a bit more but when tight would only rev to about 3300,pumping too much water for the little v6!

  • had an essex in my old boat... a 74 fletcher of some kind, only 12ft long and had a p.p. jet drive if i remember ...it was good for at least 60mph but wasnt all that fast getting there, great showin new boats what it could do ..

  • what's its top speed?

  • 45 Mph the jet unit is a volume unit not hi pressure, good out of holeshot but not set up for hi speed cheers
