I don't want to sound stupid and I really want to learn kung-fu but what are we practicing with all those movements cause some movements doesn't seem usefull when youre in a fight for protection, once again I know all those movements help but it helps me if I know the meaning of the moves and where it helpes for ???????????????

This is just like Tan Tuei, is to practice different kinds of grabbing, punching, kicking and counter attacks.

You may say that is the base of good kung fu, practice all the basic movements and you will have a nice balance and technique.
