@dognechew Rolling Stone sucks, the only good thing on the list is Hendrix as first, they fucked up everyone else and where the hell is Joe Bonamassa? best damn guitar player of 21st century!
@dognechew You have great taste and opinion in music - the IPman taught Bruce Lee though. True but jk. Not bagging on you sir. Tastes in music are like ice cream its just a matter of taste they all are so great.
The guitar starting at 2:00 is fucking sick. So is the riff just before that. Man Jimmy Page is such an amazing guitarist...Robert Plant obviously is on point with his singing too.
Honestly I think this is one of their greatest songs. Definitly underrated...sick ass tune. Love it. That's all I can say.
Heck, even if you did, I'd put Mick Box (Heep) ahead of Richards and Page, along with Robin Trower, who could easily be #3 behind BB and Duane. Never mind Mark Knopfler, who can play circles around any one of those cats. Don't even get me started on Richie Blackmore. Jeez, you need to get out and hear some more music...
Why is it that when most people think of great guitar players they only think of the rock and heavy metal players? There are some many great players from those genres, but how about the great jazz players like George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, John Mclaughlin, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, and especially Django Reinhardt who did it with just 2 fingers on the neck?
Wes and Django all the fucking way man!!!!! I am 21 and these people on here don't realize that there is more outside the box than what they see. What about Randy Rhoads too you know? But these people shoot for the most general thing possible. Its sad.
@dognechew i know who all those people are and i'm only 11. bb kings amazing. but robert plants an incredible singer. duane allman, really talented. and jimi hendix is just so freaking awesome.
rolling stone is stupid, just as stupid as the idea of making a best blues guitarist list. this is what im getting at.
people who would have to be on such a list (in no particular order):
robert johnson, jimmy page, clapton, bb king, blind lemon jefferson, blind willie johnson, son house, howling wolf, leadbelly, jimi hendrix, tony illiomi (excuse spelling errors), ... and thats all i thought of off the top of my head in less than 10 min, and i bet i still pissed people off. ranking is dumb
@brennosvsrome1 finally someone talking some sense. Most people can agree on a the best guitarists (in no particular order). Once you put order in it its easy to let your own personal preferences get in the way. Because there is so much to be done with the guitar there is no way to rank someone as just a "guitarist." there is so much more to it than that.
@dognechew Is influence or popularity a factor in making that list? Or is it just about skill? If it is then they should of put Clapton at # 2 where he belongs!
@SlayerInBlood It's all down to popularity as in who inspired how many. Which explains why mediocre guitarists like Kirk Hammet and Cobain are in the top 20 and Jimmy Page is number 9 instead of in the top three, Where he belongs.
@dognechew Rolling Stone magazine sucks, all their lists and album reviews suck. Everyone should know this. Duane Allman at # 2? No way in hell. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen are also above him. Where is Jeff Beck on that list? I don't pay attention to Rolling Stone magazine anymore.
@SlayerInBlood rating guitarist is rediculous. music is all about how it makes you feel so its different for everyone. Nobody could argue that Jimmy Page is the most technically talented or original guitarist but hes still my favorite, behind hendrix of course but he wasnt really a guitarist he was more like a god

What, did you stop listening to music in 1973?
Heck, even if you did, I'd put Mick Box (Heep) ahead of Richards and Page, along with Robin Trower, who could easily be #3 behind BB and Duane. Never mind Mark Knopfler, who can play circles around any one of those cats. Don't even get me started on Richie Blackmore. Jeez, you need to get out and hear some more music...
