  • Wow the japanese minister at 1:36 said 'water and food are the real essentials, and we are desperately short' in THREE WORDS!! WTF...! We say all that in 12 words and the Japanese can say it all in three....

  • @KennySherman stupid fanboy/girl anime sucks and japan is the more beautiful place in the world, sorry my english is poor ! but your comment sucks

  • 1:07 Is this woman mad? Kobe just had a massive earthquake, which tore up roads, and she wondered why the firemen were slowed down because the water supply ran out. :/

  • @lilblake90 , no mind your own business and screww off

  • @KennySherman you may not mean any harm but what you said offends people that actually have friends in japan that were affected by the quake. i expect an apology.

  • It annoys me when people dont pronounce Japanese cities correctly. She said Koe-bee. Its ko-beh.

  • now 8.9M Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan last march 11, 2011 is even worst than this 7.2M. Be brave once again JAPAN! Strengthen your FAITH and RAISE UP once AGAIN! God wants us to Honor and Glorify Him STILL, NOT ONLY in Good times, BUT ALSO in DIFFICULT TIMES, ALL THE MORE, WE MUST STAND IN FAITH IN GOD.

  • @OHADnow umm no.

  • 3-11-11

  • This was the Great Hanshin earthquake that occurred on Tuesday January 17th 1995.

This video is so deceptively calm and yet 6434 people lost their lives in that earthquake.

I like the positive disposition of the Japanese, they are so resilient.

  • @KennySherman not to be mean but that's shallow if the only reason you wanna keep it safe is for your own wants.

  • I had a penfriend who lived in Kobe City during the time of the earthquake. I have not heard from her since then and wonder if she survived or perished. How do I find out? Any suggestion?

  • @sansui77 there must be an identity and address register you could refer to. The Japanese are so organised.

  • @sansui77 I ask this question me a many times - how do I find it out? In the 1995 earthquake I´ve lost 5 dear friends of our family. Never heard again from them. But I still miss them, most on these times...

  • i hope this gets a high rated comment so i can see this comment is my geography lesson :)

thumbs up if you watch porn

  • Japan is a well developed third world country. I lived there for 5yrs. People still piss on the streets like its nothing. nothing ever really gets replaced or upgraded. And youll run into many anoying experiences. But its a nice place to live. Gotta go back. i miss it.

  • Daylin sev and Aroha were here

  • that would of hurt.

  • @KennySherman lol XDDD I need my manga!!!!

  • Mother nature 1 - Human kind 0.

  • How about someone actually think about the actual people who lost their lives from this, instead of your lack of anime.

  • @ubasnaga as an anime fan i wholeheartedly agree. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO BE ASHAMED!!

  • Kobe is not KOOBIII

    it's koube

  • @KennySherman WHAT??? find a cute chick?

  • kobe earthquake? did Kobe Bryant cause this?

  • crazy how the Kobe earthquake hit 1 year to the date of the 1994 Northridge Quake in Los Angeles

  • the japanese people handled the devastation admirably.

  • omg i never realised how bad it was........

  • @JinxWebber

    it was terrible

  • Thank God that since then January 1995, Japan's several quakes(Jiishin) of the past decade have had little to no casualities. There were quakes in 2001,2004 and 2007 and only 20 people died in 2001 quake and just 2 in the 2004 quake.

  • You cant compare it like that. No Japanese earthquake has struck in a central place with the same intensity since the Kobe quake. If a similar earthquake happend again I dont think the result would be much better. Just take a loo around you when youre out, how many of the buildings werent there 15 years ago?

  • I thought it was amazing how they accepted what happened. Earthquakes happen. That earthquake already happened and they knew there was no way they could go back in time and save their possessions. Whenever I accept something unfortunate that happens to me, I really feel much more at peace.

  • did it happen?

  • yes

  • It's embarrasing that one of the rich and advanced countries have such a poor treatment for disaster. as a Japanese, I always wonder where the whole money goes

  • Stored in bank accounts of rich adult entertainment CEO's?

  • still 935 years in misery to go

  • YEA CELTICS LOSE LAKERS WIIN!!! na jk...dis is really sad...

  • go order kobe beef!

    not so cheap!

  • Certain district in the USA are also third world in spite of progress

  • Duss46- I agree. Same in France. I was there when the Middle Eastern Ghetto Muslim uprising almost burned Paris to ruins. Why did the gov't take so long to react? 5 days of anarchy?

  • Hello, You have reason, this comes from the laxism reinforced under ptrétexte of human right In France much of evils come from the opposition between the two political parties. A socialist leader encouraged these riots.

I hope that your stay was pleasant nevertheless.

  • Also understand why we do not want of Turkey in spite of the recommendations of Mr Obama?

  • I hope now they have dogs to smell out people

  • yeah, good idea

  • wat does ITn stand for?

  • Independent Television News, Produces news for ITV and Channel 4 in the UK

  • pronunciation fail!

  • Funny at how racist your comment is when the woman speaking in the video has a British-English accent.

    -_-

  • I'm from L'aquila, Italy....I know what means earthquake!my city is destroyed now!

  • before i saw the vid i thought it had something to do with kobe bryant

  • lol

  • wow their so calm.. why cant people here be like that.. i am.. but i know people who are crazy

  • 20 % of earthquake in the world happen in Japan, and nost the mega cities like Tokyo and Osaka are just located several miles away from the earthquake zone or even lie on them, volcano like Fuji and Aso is very close to the urban area, with the effect related to earthquake, and the population density,I don't thnik California is worser.

  • You can't fault Japan. There is no man made structure that can escape the force of a mega earthquake. California is 99 % due for a mega earthquake in the next few decades and the human toll there will be even worse than Japan.

  • Your earthquakes in the future are here.

The plate tectonic NOT makes the earthquakes.

  • we're studying this in school, it seems such a waste and such traumatic time for all those hit.. 5000 people lost their lives and that really hit me, god bless all those hurt by this disaster

  • @DomRusky that was 6434 people died, Idiot.

  • @DomRusky According to a source i found, only 200 died...?

  • @TheSwoshb3ars your source must be wrong.. i've wrote 2/3 essays on this disaster and it's one of the worst earthquake's seen in recent history and the entirety of Japan's history.. have you got a link to that source..?

  • @DomRusky Yeah well i most likely assume that i talked about another earthquake :P

  • @TheSwoshb3ars Wait no, 1995? it was on the bbc.co.uk website. Can't give you an exact link as it says 'error' on the bottom of the comments box

  • Wow. The Japanese have the most comprehensive preparedness for this type of disaster, but its just not possible to account for all contingencies. Poor Kobe - they got hit so hard in 1995.

  • Your earthquake in the future are here.

See more than 800 world science earthquake prediction. The plate tectonic not makes the earthquake. The .... makes the earthquakes.

  • e ai?

  • The... moon... makes earthquakes..? Wth? :S

  • ur an idiot shut the fuck up

  • my god that was nasty! 0.0

  • ur racist

  • That Earhquake Cancelled the Pacific Grand Prix F1 race and postponded the race to the Fall.

  • shut up arsehole. this is a really serious matter, thousands of people died bitch, around 6,434 people. so YOU go fuck YOURSELF!

  • then don't come to Japan.

  • dududu292, Whilst I don't especially agree with the wording of your statements, I do believe that the Kobe earthquake revealed a nation crippled by bureaucracy. From memory, a large amount of army troops were stationed nearby, but were prevented from helping because they lacked the 'necessary paperwork'. The fellow in charge of the gas lines let gas flow and burn into Kobe for hours after the quake because it would be 'inconvenient' to have to go out and turn them all back on later.

  • japan is not backwards of anything, you moron.

  • thats not true, noob

  • This was done via HAARP

  • Northrdige Quake; January 17, 1994

  • january 1995

  • Tuesday 17th January 1995 at 5:46 a.m. Japan Standard Time.

  • I thought our comments are monitored. Can youtube do something to prevent anyone who post this kind of very insulting comments? superlemon50

  • I watched a doco about this last night. The quake was only for like 20 seconds or so, but the damage was MASSIVE. Almost the entire city was destroyed, and half of it was in flames. Pretty scary

  • When was it happened?

    Hope they rest in peace!

  • how many died?

  • almost 6000people.

  • Earthquake in Mexicali and the Imperial Valley occur about 4 days ago :S

  • wow what's with all the earthquakes? we had one here last night

  • There are dozens if not hundreds of earthquakes around the globe each week. Take a look at the USGS website.

  • we had one in Wells, NV ( nevada, pronounced nu - va [not no, as in croc] - duh) it was pretty big. we felt it in Winnemucca ( indian for one mocasin) 3 hrs away.

  • I am from Kobe. I was not there when the earthquake had happened. I went back to see my family and friends after about 1 and half month later. Most areas were still in the process of recovery and people were suffering. I can't believe some comments those people made

    lamole1984 or ricosuave31795

  • Were your family in Kobe okay?

  • God bless you and your family, RidgeBaker. Hope you found everyone well. *Peace*

  • dang, and we were tripping balls over the san francisco earthquake

  • Sieht wohl so aus, als hätten Love- und Rayleighwellen Hunger gehabt...haha..wahnsinnig lustig...

  • oh go and die

  • thanx i have a assement to :( thanks tho its great help! :)

  • this video is great, i have just finished studying this earthquake and now i have to write a massive report =[ lol ty tho it has helped alot

  • hi eddeh this has helpe me 2 :)

  • he scott do i know you?

  • would they just stop making it sound like other countries would have fared better off? comments like "such technologically advanced country" "scenes like a third world country" are just plain insults. What happended here would have been the same in any country, it's rude to use this event as a way to criticize Japan!

  • It's Channel 4, that's not a "real" tv channel.

  • That explains it ^_^

  • Looks like were all using it for geography homework!

  • i was on holiday in kobe when the earthquake struck

  • I was too. That was the worst earthquake I ever felt! Not even the 1994 Los Angeles Earthquake scare me as much as the one in Kobe did.

  • how'd you survive? What was it like?

  • yh.. am using this for my Kobe Eathquake project for Geography. its quite useful.

  • I watched this at school yesterday as we're studying earthquakes

  • Me too .. it helped..
