They're both emotionally invested in the song, but imo, it seems like different emotions. I thought Adam's version was chilling, very depressing - made you think about everything wrong in the world. And contrary to a prev post, I think this version is oddly hopeful, trying to bring about a change sort of. I think it might be the phrasing and simplicity of the stage setting of au idol
This one is definately more uplifting than any other version other than the original. It is the pitches in my opinion that make it more uplifting. On another note: I don't find this too great .-. This just goes to show what a great song this is. As an American woman in her 60's, I was looking for Adam's version when I ran across this. I've listened to a dozen or so versions by now. My preference is for the stripped-down, piano-and-voice-only. Always gives me goose-bumps. This kid is pretty good. I will look for other songs by him.

They're both emotionally invested in the song, but imo, it seems like different emotions. I thought Adam's version was chilling, very depressing - made you think about everything wrong in the world. And contrary to a prev post, I think this version is oddly hopeful, trying to bring about a change sort of. I think it might be the phrasing and simplicity of the stage setting of au idol

This one is definately more uplifting than any other version other than the original. It is the pitches in my opinion that make it more uplifting. On another note: I don't find this too great .-. I like every version better than this one... and the original is still my favorite ;D TEARS FOR FEARS ftw!

It was ok. He sounds out of breath all the time though. Adam has more emotion, enunciation, control, and it was hauntingly beautiful.

This just goes to show what a great song this is. As an American woman in her 60's, I was looking for Adam's version when I ran across this. I've listened to a dozen or so versions by now. My preference is for the stripped-down, piano-and-voice-only. Always gives me goose-bumps. This kid is pretty good. I will look for other songs by him.
Adam just has one of the best voices I've ever heard.

That was incoherent "kenefick". Adam Lambert from American Idol has tons of talent, obviously but, what is even more telling, is that you said they prolonged the song. Prolonged it by singing it? Both contestants did a SHORTER version of the song. People on these shows don't get the full song. Adam from AMERICAN Idol is much, much more talented than this kid though.
