Actually, she originated the role of Maureen in RENT and got nominated for a Tony in 1996. Then she originated Kate in The Wild Party off-broadway,. then Aida, Then Wicked. So, she has always been a well-knowned name in the New York theatre community.

I would dissagree. I personally thing that Sherie's best role to date was in The Last Five Years. It showed off not only her voice, but really showed how strong of an actress she is. I believe that she is one of the most under-rated actresses.

I had a great seat for this show & saw that the hat has a big cat on the brim, like the one in the Metropolitan Museums permanent Egyptian collection. Cats were worshiped in Egypt ( the goddess Bast has a feline head ) & the iconic image of the cat could be a nod to the almighty 'pussy' !!

The dresses were meant to look like towels. At the opening of the scene the girls are all swimming in the royal bath/spa room. The towels may be sewn onto a flesh-toned foundation garment to avoid any 'WARDROBE MANFUNCTIONS'
It was Adam Pascal. He was the OBC lead & stayed on after Heather Headley and Sherie Rene Scott left. I saw this with Adam, Idina, & Maya Days as AIDA in Dec. 2001. Maya ALSO played Mimi in Rent & Mary Magdalene in the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. So there were 3 RENT alumni.

I actually prefer Idina's vocals to the original actress. I have the OBC soundtrack version and I just love the way Idina's voice goes with this!

I danced and sang to this song (the soundtrack) at a performing arts school in june and I fell in love with this song. Then when I found out that Idina, who is my idol and the most amazing person EVER!!!, was in this for a short time I got so excited. I really want to see this show.

I lucked out & saw AIDA w/ Idina after she took over for Sherie Rene' Scott. This scene tickled me stupid!! Loved it. The fashion show was Elton John's idea & the directors were going to cut it to shorten the running time. Miss Elton ( fashion junkie that he IS ) replied ' Oh no, it stays"..

I had a great seat for this show & saw that the hat has a big cat on the brim, like the one in the Metropolitan Museums permanent Egyptian collection. Cats were worshiped in Egypt ( the goddess Bast has a feline head ) & the iconic image of the cat could be a nod to the almighty 'pussy' !!

The dresses were meant to look like towels. At the opening of the scene the girls are all swimming in the royal bath/spa room. The towels may be sewn onto a flesh-toned foundation garment to avoid any 'WARDROBE MANFUNCTIONS'

It was Adam Pascal. He was the OBC lead & stayed on after Heather Headley and Sherie Rene Scott left. I saw this with Adam, Idina, & Maya Days as AIDA in Dec. 2001. Maya ALSO played Mimi in Rent & Mary Magdalene in the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. So there were 3 RENT alumni.

Actually, at 4:05 she was off, (flat), but at 4:10 she gets back in tune. Though it's not smooth and silky sounding, its classic Dee!

I like how she adds a bit of goofiness and sweetness to the character. Honestly, maybe not the best vocally at this part. But i like her interpretation of it.
Also, she looks so Maureen when she raised her right arm in the air before the runway show. Idina's awesome!
