@surfinthefray How's it rude? The bad part of the whole thing is that the book has pictures where they intentionally left out the color so you can color the pictures yourself...so by getting it on an e-reader, you miss out on a big part of the experience.
Well, if a second is a "lot of time", yes, Nook is a lot slower. I think, Nook 2 (or it's international version) may match or even goes beyond Kindle 2's performance.
Take a look at CES and all new procucts and announcements.
Right now the only downside to the nook for me is that it doesn't have much content for students and the web browser...none of the textbooks or books I need are available for download via b&n...having these capabilities will help make students lives much easier and boost b&n sales...until then kindle might be my best option :( maybe I'll have to wait for the next generation of nook...b&n's upcoming hue might be better
@chazell101 you can buy kindle books from amazon and download them to your computer and then transfer them to your nook. if you do a google search for "transfer from kindle to nook" you can find out exactly how to do this.
Thanks for this video. You are probally rigth that the speed of changing the pages dont really matter that much in real life, but it did look much slower than the Sony in the last Nook video.
I thinking of getting a ebook reader just a question, does the bottom screen bothers you, if at all? I was thinking of getting this over the Kindle or Sony reader but I'm not sure if the bottom screen gets annoying after a while.
No. The touchscreen turns itself off when it's not being used. You can program it to turn off 10, 30 or 60 seconds after no use. While reading it's not on, unless you're trying to bookmark something or use some other feature.
I also have to wait till February- I cannot wait however I dont mind waiting as it gives BN time to get the fixes done right. Looking forward from the class of February 2010.
I'd add to that that they're probably pissed they blew their wads on the Kindle(ing) because they didn't want to wait for backorders. I'd be upset too, if I got a Kindle(ing) and then realized I could have waited a month and had an ebook reader with a) expandable memory b) PDF support built in c) replaceable rechargeable battery d) color/touch screen e) wifi 802.11 e) synced notes/annotations f) personalized jpg screensavers etc...
Shit, I'd blow my bitch up in a car if she got me a kindle...
wow... that now I will definitely be buying this gadget (I was only wanting to see if Barnes and noble was going to be true to there words and update the slow/ sluggish controls) and it does seem like all is well and more is on the way! no bad i have to wait until feb!
Thanks for help. I hate book reader of sony and I wasn't secure which buy.

Thank God the firmware made it faster. I think I may join the folks on Feb 1 who get their Nooks as well. Yay

People slamming the nook are probably, paper book hardliners, or kindle lovers.
Great post.
