  • Looks more like a riot for anarchism than just a "peace protest" to me.

  • as a student at UCSF and a person that joined the occupation of a campus building on this campus i say thank you for your support...OCCUPY EVERYTHING MARCH,4 AND LET YOUR VOICE HE HERD!!...

  • Im trying to find out the political philosphy of this group. Are they anarchist , Democrats whats the ideology.

  • @Solutionstoourworld Well its anarchist once I saw the flag I was ok now I know what thay are.

  • @Solutionstoourworld

    anarchists... look at 2:32

  • "anywhere space is being stolen from the commons"

What are the chances the majority of the people in this video live in neighborhoods were the people before them were priced out because these young hipsters gentrified it?

You are not solving the problem, you are the problem. While you are living the 1%er life in this world and bitching you are making it harder on people not as privileged as you, not easier. You need to get over yourself first if you want to make any real change.

  • you may well be right, and that's definitely something the north american anarchist movement needs to face if we're going to be a serious threat. but, at least among folks i know, there's at least a serious attempt to understand and subvert their own privilidge, and there's certainly a commitment to fighting the class structures that fuel gentrification. if that's not present, you're right, there's a serious problem.

  • Solidarity from Graz / Austria! We are occupying 3 lecture halls since 6 weeks now. one world, one struggle!!

  • i just don't know if kicking trash cans is a helpful response. i think your hearts are in the right place but your efforts would be best served acting more proactively. i don't think that this approach of ever so slightly-violent disobedience really would help you occupy anything that matters, ie "police stations, military bases, factories, office buildings etc. etc."

  • The VO couldn't be more patronizing.

  • i heard about this after it happened. was there a call for this? im a cuny student working against the cuts and (suprisingly) didnt hear about this. wouldve loved to join and know quite a few others who wouldve came also.

  • We really need to show the world what the students are quite capable at a political level and im glad that we are making a stand......wish u guys all the best...black hoodie from london

    POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

  • I hope the local kids here raise signs in, "solidarity", disrupting traffic, threatening police, destroying public property, all in the name of pubescence.

  • Disrupting traffic! The horror! I agree, it would be so awful if your privileged little life were interrupted for an hour because other peoples' lives are being ruined by deceitful money grabs. I say we start suing for your reparations now.

  • Yo, this video blows. I'm down with occupation, but we didn't really do shit. As I marched on thursday, there was a sense of empowerment that seemed to numb us to the pathetic reality of the action, but afterwards I was more circumspect.

But I didn't really regret my involvement in earnest until I watched this video. The editing and music are so corny, it's almost like we're playing into negative preconceptions about the lameness of student activism.

    Stale tactics, no strategy.

    :-(

  • and these dance moves are weak!

  • Just because you graduate heavily in debt doesn't mean you aren't rich, white, and privileged. The amount of money and opportunity that it takes to even get to universities to NYU and New School are pretty significant.

  • @rasputinsghost

Well atleast they are doing something about the existing climate....and they have a point

  • There is also a difference between debt and an investment. You are investing in yourself.

  • I used to support you, but raiding someone else's party just makes you assholes. If you want to be taken seriously by the New School community, why not consider taking action in ways that don't alienate so many of us?

  • 1. crashing the yuppy party was fun, even for them.

    2. you're already alienated

  • it's like crashing a party of your future selves

  • Did you guys occupy New York when the united states invaded iraq? when obama said that he supported indefinite detention. when bankers were given taxpayer money? if so, then this isn't too bad. if its just protesting firstworld problems like this then this isn't too cool

  • were there protests when those things happened? yes?

  • Yeah, people shouldn't try to change their daily lives, to try to improve their material conditions - they should only work on things that are more abstract or not as tangible.

  • The point is not merely making our voices heard, but giving ourselves full control over our destinies.

  • Hell yeah!

  • the vortex opened and it was 1936 and 2012... MAYAN BRIGADE. OCCUPY EVERYTHING.
